Description
Zoom on the Westinghouse WGen3600DFcv
The Westinghouse WGen3600DFcv replaced the WGen3600DFv. It's a compact portable generator especially useful for:
- RV travellers looking for even more independence
- Occasional participants of outdoor events, competitions, concerts and festivals
- Homeowners who want to be able to use the most necessary devices in their household, even during a blackout
Over the following sections, you'll uncover its power characteristics, the selection of outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it includes.
Power & Run Time
With its dual-fuel technology, the powerful and versatile Westinghouse WGen3600DFcv provides an output of 120V. While gasoline-powered, it gives a running wattage of 3,600W along with a peak wattage of 4,650W. While propane-powered, it provides 3,240 rated watts and 4,180 starting watts.
The generator is rated for a noise of 68 dBA (less noisy than a normal conversation). Its starting mechanism is based on a standard recoil pull-rope starting mechanism.
With a fuel capacity of 4 gallons, the WGen3600DFcv can operate for up to 14 hours using gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.29 GPH), or for up to 16.5 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.28 GPH) using propane.
Considering its high Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 23%, it is not recommended to rely on the WGen3600DFcv for powering sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 4 AC outlets:
Thanks to its TT-30R receptacle (TT stands for 'Travel Trailer'), this Westinghouse generator is RV Ready.
Portability
At L23.5 x W18.5 x H18.9 in, the standard open frame design of the Westinghouse WGen3600DFcv delivers stability alongside easy maintenance access to components and good air cooling. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.
Though weighing 104.7 lbs, the generator remains classified as 'portable,' indicating its capability to be moved, though its weight could pose transport challenges. The additional purchase of an official wheel kit (opens in a new tab) can therefore be a good idea, if you wish to improve the generator's mobility.
Features
The control panel of the WGen3600DFcv is equipped with a convenient meter showing you voltage, frequency and lifetime hours, aiding in monitoring its status and activity.
The generator includes a built-in fuel gauge, a quick, easy and convenient method of checking the device’s gas level.
Considering security aspects, the generator boasts an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, offering peace of mind throughout operation.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Besides the classic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to get you promptly started, the Westinghouse WGen3600DFcv also comes with some accessories: propane hose, oil, tool kit and funnel are included. The official storage cover and running cover are also available, as separate purchases.

The Westinghouse WGen3600DFcv versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Westinghouse WGen3600DFcv compare to dual fuel generators of similar power (between 3500 and 4500 W).
- As its weight is 104.7 pounds, the Westinghouse WGen3600DFcv falls in the expected weight range of the dual fuel devices in the 3500-4500 rated wattage category. If weight is an important consideration for you, the Pulsar PGX5250BiXCO stands out as one of the top contenders in this power category, with a dry weight of 64 pounds.
- With noise emissions rated as low as 68 dBA, this generator falls within the typical noise range expected for devices of similar type and power. If noise emissions are important to you, one of the least noisy generators of this power range is the Westinghouse iGen5000DF with only 52 dBA.
- As for its runtime, the WGen3600DFcv runs for up to 14 hours at a 25% load, placing it towards the low end among comparable dual fuel products. If you consider autonomy on a single full tank as one of the deciding factors, one of the generators in the same power range that offers the highest run time is the Firman WH03662OF, with up to 25 hours.
- Run time is crucial, but it heavily relies on the fuel tank's capacity. Thus, considering fuel efficiency alongside is essential. This generator is not fuel-efficient compared to devices of similar output: its estimated fuel consumption stands at 0.29 GPH at a 25% load. To prioritize fuel savings, we advise considering the Champion 201319, which stands out for its gasoline efficiency, consuming just 0.16 gallons per hour.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3500-4500W dual fuel generators, the Westinghouse WGen3600DFcv is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.

About Westinghouse
The US based Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment is a legacy subsidiary of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, founded in 1886. While the company has been acquired and merged into the American CBS, the Westinghouse name remains as the brand name for many of their electrical solutions, which stretch across the scale from power plants to portable generators. Portable generators – the main product of the Outdoor Power Equipment branch of Westinghouse – used to be manufactured by Westpro Power Systems, which was bought in 2016 by Midwest Equipment. Lawn equipment, such as trimmers and blowers, is also sold under the Westinghouse brand name. All of their products are designed in the US. However, they are in many cases manufactured in China and Vietnam.
Warranty Information
The Westinghouse WGen3600DFcv is covered under a warranty for up to 3 years. This warranty may be limited and may not cover all parts of the generator.
