Thanks to its dual-fuel technology, the Westinghouse WGen3600DFc delivers 120V and offers power and versatility. When gasoline-powered, it benefits from a running wattage of 3,600W and a peak wattage of 4,650W. When propane-powered, it has 3,240 rated watts and 4,180 peak watts.
The generator, rated for a noise of 68 dBA (less noisy than a normal conversation), provides flexibility in starting, offering both a classic hand-operated recoil starting mechanism and an easy-to-use and reliable electric starter (battery included). I use 20 lb propane tanks and get 16 hours per tank when I’m using it to run my entire cabin (including inverter style window AC unit, but not the hot water heater). When I’m using it as a backup generator to run my cabin I’m running TWO inverter style (midea U shaped) window AC units, one full size refrigerator, one medium size chest freezer, lights, 2 ceiling fans, 800 watt microwave, stove vent and electronics. If I want it to run my 120 volt water heater for a shower and/or washing machine (which I run on cold water) then I turn off my AC’s. *** NOTE for electronics below.
*** electronics *** I bought an “Line conditioning” battery backup to run my electronics like router and television, because the power of of this inverter is dirty and for my installation there are sometimes surges when a big appliance comes on where the lights dim for a second.
I have it installed outside in an enclosure I built and wired into my breaker box (it runs half because it’s 120 volt). I control what it runs by turning breakers on or off. I bought mine for $449 with the wheel kit (dual fuel) when it was on a discount on Amazon in May of 2023.
I have done a full test that lasted 26 hours of continuous running and I have used it for some odd jobs, but I don’t use it every day like a construction contractor might.
