- RV travellers wishing to enhance their freedom and nomad lifestyle
In the sections ahead, the power characteristics, availability of various outlets, the portability, and any additional features of the device shall be discussed.
Power & Run Time
The Westinghouse iGen8200TFc delivers 120/240V and benefits from a tri-fuel technology that allows it to run on gasoline, propane, or natural gas. When gasoline-powered, it enjoys a running wattage of 6,600W and a peak wattage of 8,200W. When propane-powered, it benefits from 5,940 rated watts and 7,380 peak watts. Its natural gas operation offers 5,280W of rated wattage and 6,560W of starting wattage. Moreover, the parallel capability (parallel kit not included) enables increasing of power output when paired with another similar or compatible unit, providing increased energy capacity and versatility for a wide range of needs.
With a noise rating of 60 dBA (just as noisy as a normal conversation), the inverter generator features a traditional recoil pull-start mechanism, but also an easy-to-use and reliable electric starter (battery included). Furthermore, the iGen8200TFc can be remotely started, providing users with added ease of use (key fob included).
As for its running time, the iGen8200TFc, along with its 3.96 gallons fuel capacity, can run for up to 17 hours with a full tank filled with gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.23 GPH). If propane is used, it can operate for up to 9.8 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.48 GPH).
Sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets, as the iGen8200TFc produces a clean sine wave, with a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD).
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 4 AC outlets:
Furthermore, it has 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) perfect for conveniently charging mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices.
The inclusion of a TT-30R receptacle (TT for 'Travel Trailer') makes this Westinghouse generator RV Ready, ideal for providing power to recreational vehicles.
Portability
Since the Westinghouse iGen8200TFc is an inverter generator, its closed design (L27 x W20.9 x H21.7 in) not only provides an aesthetic advantage but also contributes to reduced noise levels compared to conventional, open frame devices. This modern design aims to provide an ideal power solution to recreational users.
While weighing 134.5 lbs, the generator is classified as 'portable,' indicating its mobility, albeit its heftiness may limit portability in specific situations. Despite the restricted maneuverability, its set of 2 wheels and its telescopic handle provides a solution, allowing for convenient shifting once the generator is positioned on the ground.
Features
Included in the control panel of the iGen8200TFc, a digital data center assists in tracking its status and activity by providing details on the fuel level, power output, voltage, frequency, remaining run time and lifetime run hours. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.
In addition to this info, when its oil levels are insufficient and the generator is ready, you will be informed by the featured light indicators.
In terms of security, the generator features an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), ensuring peace of mind during its use.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
While the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), helpful for starting the device promptly, come with the Westinghouse iGen8200TFc, the following accessories are also included: oil, battery charger, propane hose, key fob, funnel and tool kit.

The Westinghouse iGen8200TFc versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Westinghouse iGen8200TFc compare to generators of similar power (between 6500 and 7500 W).
- As for its weight, the Westinghouse iGen8200TFc weighs only 134.5 pounds, making it one of the lighter generators in the 6500-7500 rated wattage category. If you are concerned by weight, one of the champions in the above-mentioned power range is the Sportsman GEN85KIDF, with a dry weight of just 133 pounds.
- Delivering a rated noise output as low as 60 dBA, this inverter generator places itself as one of the most quiet among the units of similar power.
- With up to 17 hours of runtime at 25% load, the iGen8200TFc provides a higher run time when compared to similarly powerful products. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the DuroMax XP9500iHT, reaching up to 21 hours.
- Run time is a key metric, but it's dependent on the generator's fuel tank capacity. Therefore, discussing fuel efficiency is necessary for a complete understanding. This inverter generator can be considered as one of the most fuel-efficient, due to its low estimated fuel consumption of only 0.23 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load, within the aforementioned wattage range.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 6500-7500W multi-fuel generators, the Westinghouse iGen8200TFc is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

About Westinghouse
The US based Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment is a legacy subsidiary of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, founded in 1886. While the company has been acquired and merged into the American CBS, the Westinghouse name remains as the brand name for many of their electrical solutions, which stretch across the scale from power plants to portable generators. Portable generators – the main product of the Outdoor Power Equipment branch of Westinghouse – used to be manufactured by Westpro Power Systems, which was bought in 2016 by Midwest Equipment. Lawn equipment, such as trimmers and blowers, is also sold under the Westinghouse brand name. All of their products are designed in the US. However, they are in many cases manufactured in China and Vietnam.
Warranty Information
The Westinghouse iGen8200TFc is covered under a warranty for up to 3 years. This warranty may be limited and may not cover all parts of the generator.

User Reviews
Westinghouse has a systemic issue starting out of the box on vapor fuels. Do not recommend as it doesn’t run well on gasoline either at peak watts.
