In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
Thanks to its dual-fuel technology, the Westinghouse iGen5000DF provides a 120V output and offers both versatility and power. When utilizing gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 3,900W and a starting wattage of 5,000W. Alternatively, when operating on propane, it provides 3,500 running watts and 4,500 starting watts. Furthermore, the parallel capability (parallel cord (opens in a new tab) not included) offers the advantage of increasing power output when connected to another similar or compatible unit, delivering expanded energy capacity and flexibility for various applications.
The inverter generator has a low noise rating of 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than rainfall), which earned it a place in our 10 quietest portable generators. Its starting mechanisms include a conventional pull-start mechanism and a no-fuss and convenient electric starter (battery included). For additional convenience, the iGen5000DF may also be remotely started (key fob included).
The iGen5000DF, with a fuel capacity of 3.4 gallons, reaches a run time of up to 18 hours utilizing gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.19 GPH). Alternatively, it can reach a run time of up to 22 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.21 GPH) with propane.
The <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the iGen5000DF ensures a clean sine wave output, providing a secure power source for your sensitive electronics through its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features 3 AC outlets as follows:
Additionally, it features 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) ensuring convenient charging of devices like mobile phones and tablets, for connectivity on the go.
With its TT-30R receptacle (TT standing for 'Travel Trailer'), this Westinghouse generator is RV Ready, perfectly suited for powering recreational vehicles.
Portability
As the Westinghouse iGen5000DF is an inverter generator, its encased design (L24.5 x W17.5 x H20 in) offers more aesthetics than a conventional, open frame product. The featured design follows the latest trends and is ideal for easy and recreational use.
With a dry weight of 104.7 lbs, the iGen5000DF can easily follow you wherever your power needs are. Moreover, its set of 2 wheels (⌀5.5") and its telescopic handle make it easy to shift the generator once it's on the ground.
Features
One of the many iGen5000DF's features is the digital data center, included in its control panel, which conveniently provides information on the remaining run time, power output, voltage, fuel level and lifetime run hours and thus, helps you monitor its activity and status.
In addition to this info, the light indicators show you if the generator is overloaded, the generator is ready and the oil level is too low.
From a security standpoint, the product offers an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, allowing you to use it with a peace of mind.
Beyond the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to assist with setup, the Westinghouse iGen5000DF ships with supplementary accessories: battery charger, oil, propane hose, funnel, tool kit and key fob. An official running cover and a suitable storage cover are also available, as separate purchases.

The Westinghouse iGen5000DF versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Westinghouse iGen5000DF compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 3500 and 4500 W).
- With a dry weight of 104.7 lbs, the Westinghouse iGen5000DF falls within the expected weight range for inverter generators in the 3500 to 4500 rated wattage. In terms of weight, one of the champions in their power range is the WEN 56432iX, standing at just 52.9 lbs.
- At just 52 dBA rated noise level, this inverter generator is positioned as one of the quietest choices among devices delivering similar type and power.
- Thanks to an impressive running time of up to 18 hours at 25% load, the iGen5000DF benefits from a higher run time than many inverter generators of a similar output. If you wish to prioritize autonomy, the Champion 200977 shines as one of the top contenders, offering one of the highest run times among generators with similar power output, totaling up to 22 hours.
- Run times are important, yet thanks to their dependence on the fuel capacity, they should be judged along with the fuel consumption of the device. Among generators of similar power, this inverter generator stands out with a better fuel efficiency than most, with consumption rates around 0.19 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load. If you wish to acquire one of the most gasoline efficient products of this power range, the Champion 201319, with a fuel consumption of 0.16 GPH could be in your good books.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3500-4500W dual fuel inverter generators, the Westinghouse iGen5000DF is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

About Westinghouse
The US based Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment is a legacy subsidiary of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, founded in 1886. While the company has been acquired and merged into the American CBS, the Westinghouse name remains as the brand name for many of their electrical solutions, which stretch across the scale from power plants to portable generators. Portable generators – the main product of the Outdoor Power Equipment branch of Westinghouse – used to be manufactured by Westpro Power Systems, which was bought in 2016 by Midwest Equipment. Lawn equipment, such as trimmers and blowers, is also sold under the Westinghouse brand name. All of their products are designed in the US. However, they are in many cases manufactured in China and Vietnam.
Warranty Information
The Westinghouse iGen5000DF is covered under a warranty for up to 3 years. This warranty may be limited and may not cover all parts of the generator.

Can you operate this inside of a RV generator compartment? (Asked March 13, 2021)
You probably can, as long as you are mindful of all safety aspects, and keep at least 3 feet of clearance on all sides of the generator, including overhead.
can you hook up an exhaust pipe to vent to the outside? (Asked April 23, 2021)
Absolutely not! You must always operate your generator outside, where there is enough airflow and ventilation. NEVER run a generator indoors. Carbon monoxide can kill you in minutes.
I live at 5000 feet elevation and sometimes camp above 8000 feet. Do I need to purchase a high altitude jet for this device? (Asked May 06, 2021)
It's absolutely recommended. Note that in addition to the high altitude carburetor kit, you'll also need to purchase a high altitude dual fuel regulator.
With propane as the fuel source, if you turn off the generator via the panel or using the remote fob does the propane continue to flow at some rate and cause an explosion hazard? Or does the generator have a propane control valve that stops the flow when the generator is not running? Having a remote start capability for a generator running on propane would seem pointless if the generator cannot stop the gas flow when necessary. (Asked August 14, 2021)
You would have to manually open/close your propane tank valve.
what is the advantage of the parallel ports. can this offer 240 volt operation with a 2nd generator? thank you (Asked November 22, 2021)
Paralleling 2 units will increase the maximum available current, but will have no effect on voltage.
Can this unit be installed with an automatic transfer switch that starts unit when available solar or batterie power is not available ? (Asked February 05, 2026)
The unit will not auto start with automatic transfer switches.
