Power & Run Time
Thanks to its dual-fuel technology, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc delivers 120V and offers power and versatility. When gasoline-powered, it benefits from a running wattage of 3,300W and a peak wattage of 4,000W. When propane-powered, it has 2,970 rated watts and 3,600 peak watts. Additionally, the parallel capability (parallel kit included) facilitates increasing of power output when linked to another similar or compatible unit, offering enhanced energy capacity and reliability for diverse requirements.
The inverter generator features a simple traditional pull-start mechanism and also a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). It is rated for a low noise of 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a refrigerator) which places it in our list of the 10 quietest portable generators. Additionally, the iGen4000DFc features remote starting, offering users increased convenience (key fob included).
Regarding its running time, the iGen4000DFc, with a 1.66 gallon fuel capacity, can operate for up to 7 hours with a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.24 GPH). When using propane, it can run for up to 17 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.28 GPH).
The iGen4000DFc generates a clean sine wave with <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), ensuring minimal electrical noise and fluctuations. This feature makes it ideal for powering sensitive electronics, providing stable and reliable AC power through the outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 3 AC outlets:
Furthermore, it showcases 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) ideal for charging various electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets.
Featuring a TT-30R receptacle (TT for 'Travel Trailer'), this Westinghouse generator is RV Ready, designed specifically for use with recreational vehicles.
Portability
The Westinghouse iGen4000DFc's characteristic encased inverter generator design (L21.3 x W12.6 x H19.3 in) provides an aesthetic advantage and contributes to quieter operation compared to any ordinary, open frame product. This modern design aims to provide an ideal power solution to recreational users.
With a dry weight of 62.8 lbs, the iGen4000DFc is manageable, ensuring it can accompany you wherever you need power. Additionally, its set of 2 wheels and its telecospic handle enable easy movement of the generator once it's in place.
Features
For easy status and activity monitoring of the iGen4000DFc, its control panel integrates a digital data center, offering insights into the voltage, fuel level, lifetime run hours and power output. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.
In addition to this info, when the oil level is too low, the generator is ready and the generator is on overload, you will be informed by the featured light indicators.
From a security point of view, the generator is equipped with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), giving you a peace of mind during use.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
In addition to the traditional documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to help you get started promptly, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc also includes several accessories: battery charger, tool kit, funnel, propane hose, oil and key fob.
The Westinghouse iGen4000DFc versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- When it comes to weight, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc tips the scales at just 62.8 pounds, making it one of the lighter inverter generators in the 2500 to 3500 rated wattage range. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Pulsar PGD40iSCO with only 46 pounds.
- With a lowest possible noise of 52 dBA, this inverter generator places itself amongst the more quiet of the products delivering similar power. If you'd like a less noisy alternative, the Honda EU3000iS is a strong contender. It boasts a noise rating of 50 dBA, placing it among the quietest generators in its power category.
- Regarding its autonomy, the iGen4000DFc can run for up to 7 hours at a 25% load, aligning it with the lower performers in its type and power range. If runtime is a priority for you, the Champion 200977 stands out as one of the generators with the longest run time in its power range, providing up to 22 hours of continuous use.
- Run time is a key metric, but it's dependent on the generator's fuel tank capacity. Therefore, discussing fuel efficiency is necessary for a complete understanding. Compared to its peers, this inverter generator is not exactly fuel-efficient, compared to similarly powerful devices, with an estimated fuel consumption of 0.24 GPH at a 25% load. If minimizing fuel usage is one of your key priorities, the Energizer eZV3500P is one of the most efficient devices with similar power output, with a gasoline consumption of only 0.13 gallons per hour.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 2500-3500W dual fuel inverter generators, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

About Westinghouse
The US based Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment is a legacy subsidiary of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, founded in 1886. While the company has been acquired and merged into the American CBS, the Westinghouse name remains as the brand name for many of their electrical solutions, which stretch across the scale from power plants to portable generators. Portable generators – the main product of the Outdoor Power Equipment branch of Westinghouse – used to be manufactured by Westpro Power Systems, which was bought in 2016 by Midwest Equipment. Lawn equipment, such as trimmers and blowers, is also sold under the Westinghouse brand name. All of their products are designed in the US. However, they are in many cases manufactured in China.

User Reviews
Westinghouse’s DBA noise rating is false, I have this generator and it’s at best 61 DBA from 25 feet in the grass. I spoke to a Westinghouse customer service person and asked them why they list almost all of their Inverter Generations at 52 DBA. They said that just what they do.. WHAT?? I have also looked at many YouTube reviews for Igen4500,4000,2200,2500,2550 done by reputable YouTubers and NONE of them have rated any of these models below 60 DBA from 25 feet. I’m not saying they are not good generators because they are good. It would expect Westinghouse to list accurate rating and not deceive the consumers with false ratings !!
