The subsequent sections will explore in detail its power characteristics, the diverse outlets it provides, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it offers.
Power & Run Time
The dual-fuel technology of the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc allows for an output of 120V and provides superb power and versatility. If gasoline-powered, the device provides a running wattage of 3,300W and a starting wattage of 4,000W. If propane-powered, it gives 2,970 rated watts and 3,600 starting watts. In addition, as it is parallel capable (parallel kit included), this power can be increased when linked to another similar or compatible unit.
Enjoying a really low noise rating of 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than rainfall), securing it a place in our list of 10 quietest portable generators, the inverter generator can be started via a classic hand-operated recoil starting mechanism, or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). Moreover, the iGen4000DFc boasts remote starting functionality, adding another layer of convenience (key fob included).
As for its running time, the iGen4000DFc, along with its 1.66 gallon fuel capacity, can run for up to 7 hours with a full tank filled with gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.24 GPH). If propane is used, it can operate for up to 17 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.28 GPH).
The iGen4000DFc produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 3 AC outlets:
It also sports 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) enabling convenient charging of devices like mobile phones and tablets.
Thanks to its TT-30R receptacle (TT stands for 'Travel Trailer'), this Westinghouse generator is RV Ready, making it ideal for powering recreational vehicles.
Portability
As an inverter generator, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc showcases a closed design (L21.3 x W12.6 x H19.3 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring quieter operation compared to conventional, open frame models. This modern design aims to provide an ideal power solution to recreational users.
Weighing 62.8 lbs, the iGen4000DFc is easily handled, ensuring it can go wherever your power needs are. Moreover, once it’s on the ground, its set of 2 wheels and its telescopic handle will allow you to shift it without effort.
Features
To help you monitor the iGen4000DFc's status and activity, its control panel is equipped with a digital data center, giving you information on the fuel level, voltage, lifetime run hours and power output. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.
In addition to this info, the device's light indicators will illuminate to indicate if the generator is ready, the generator is overloaded and its oil levels are insufficient.
Security-wise, this product benefits from an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, which gives you a complete peace of mind when using it.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Beyond the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to assist with setup, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc ships with supplementary accessories: propane hose, battery charger, key fob, funnel, oil and tool kit.

The Westinghouse iGen4000DFc versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- Weight-wise, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc has only 62.8 lbs, which renders it one of the lighter inverter generators which produce 2500 to 3500 rated watts. If you are mindful of weight, the Pulsar PGD40iSCO is among the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 46 pounds.
- At a lowest noise rating of 52 dBA, this inverter generator is one of the quieter devices of similar type and power. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may be interested in the Honda EU3000iS, one of the least noisy generators similarly powerful as this one, rated for 50 dBA.
- Regarding its runtime, the iGen4000DFc operates for up to 7 hours at a 25% load, positioning it at the lower spectrum among comparable inverters. Furthermore, considering the run times, one of the generators which have a roughly same power output, with the highest autonomy, is the Champion 200977, as it provides up to 22 hours.
- Run time is a key metric, but it's dependent on the generator's fuel tank capacity. Therefore, discussing fuel efficiency is necessary for a complete understanding. In fact, this inverter generator is not one of the most fuel-efficient options in the aforementioned wattage range: its estimated gasoline consumption at 25% load is around 0.24 GPH. If gasoline efficiency is at the top of your list, you may want to have a look at the Honda EU3200i, which has great fuel efficiency, with a gas consumption of only 0.14 gallons per hour.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 2500-3500W dual fuel inverter generators, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

About Westinghouse
The US based Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment is a legacy subsidiary of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, founded in 1886. While the company has been acquired and merged into the American CBS, the Westinghouse name remains as the brand name for many of their electrical solutions, which stretch across the scale from power plants to portable generators. Portable generators – the main product of the Outdoor Power Equipment branch of Westinghouse – used to be manufactured by Westpro Power Systems, which was bought in 2016 by Midwest Equipment. Lawn equipment, such as trimmers and blowers, is also sold under the Westinghouse brand name. All of their products are designed in the US. However, they are in many cases manufactured in China and Vietnam.
Warranty Information
The Westinghouse iGen4000DFc is covered under a warranty for up to 3 years. This warranty may be limited and may not cover all parts of the generator.

does it need a high altitude kit for operation up to 10,000 feet (Asked May 14, 2025)
A high altitude kit is required for operation at altitudes over 5,000 ft. Operation without the altitude kit will cause decreased performance, increased fuel consumption, and increased emissions.

User Reviews
Westinghouse’s DBA noise rating is false, I have this generator and it’s at best 61 DBA from 25 feet in the grass. I spoke to a Westinghouse customer service person and asked them why they list almost all of their Inverter Generations at 52 DBA. They said that just what they do.. WHAT?? I have also looked at many YouTube reviews for Igen4500,4000,2200,2500,2550 done by reputable YouTubers and NONE of them have rated any of these models below 60 DBA from 25 feet. I’m not saying they are not good generators because they are good. It would expect Westinghouse to list accurate rating and not deceive the consumers with false ratings !!
