Power & Run Time
Delivering 120V, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc is enhanced by dual-fuel technology, providing power and versatility. Running on gasoline, it boasts a running wattage of 3,300W and a starting wattage of 4,000W. Alternatively, when propane-powered, it delivers 2,970 running watts and 3,600 starting watts. In addition, as it is parallel capable (parallel kit included), this power can be increased when linked to another similar or compatible unit.
The inverter generator has a low noise rating of 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a conversation at home), which earned it a place in our 10 quietest portable generators. Its starting mechanisms include a conventional pull-start mechanism and a convenient and easy-to-use electric starter (battery included). To add further convenience, the iGen4000DFc can be remotely started (key fob included).
The iGen4000DFc, with a fuel capacity of 1.66 gallon, reaches a run time of up to 7 hours utilizing gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.24 GPH). Alternatively, it can reach a run time of up to 17 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.28 GPH) with propane.
Delicate electronics can be plugged in the AC outlets safely, as the iGen4000DFc generates a clean sine wave, reaching a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD).
Outlets
The control panel is equipped with the following 3 AC outlets:
It also sports 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) ideal for charging various electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets.
This Westinghouse generator is RV Ready, thanks to its TT-30R receptacle (TT stands for 'Travel Trailer').
Portability
The Westinghouse iGen4000DFc's characteristic encased inverter generator design (L21.3 x W12.6 x H19.3 in) provides an aesthetic advantage and contributes to quieter operation compared to any ordinary, open frame product. The design follows the contemporary trends and is perfect for recreationally generating power.
Weighing 62.8 lbs, the iGen4000DFc is practical, ensuring it can follow you wherever power is required. In addition, with its set of 2 wheels and its telescopic handle, it may be shifted with ease, once placed on the floor.
Features
Monitoring of the iGen4000DFc's status and activity is made possible by a digital data center, which provides information on the lifetime run hours, voltage, power output and fuel level and is one of the features of its control panel. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.
In addition to this info, when the generator is overloaded, the generator is ready and the oil level is too low, you will be informed by the featured light indicators.
From a security standpoint, the generator is furnished with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), ensuring peace of mind during operation.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
With the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), letting you start the generator quickly, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc also comes with several accessories, including: tool kit, propane hose, key fob, oil, battery charger and funnel.

The Westinghouse iGen4000DFc versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- As far as its dry weight is concerned, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc weighs just 62.8 pounds and thus, it is one of the lighter 2500 to 3500 rated wattage inverter generators. if you wish to prioritize weight, the Pulsar PGD40iSCO is one of the top contenders in its power category, weighing only 46 pounds.
- Delivering a rated noise output as low as 52 dBA, this inverter generator is has a quieter operation that most units of similar type and power. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may be interested in the Honda EU3000iS, one of the least noisy generators similarly powerful as this one, rated for 50 dBA.
- Regarding its autonomy, the iGen4000DFc can run for up to 7 hours at a 25% load, aligning it with the lower performers in its type and power range. Concerning the run times, one of the several devices with a comparable output, offering the highest autonomy, is the Champion 200977, which is able to run for up to 22 hours.
- Though run time is a significant parameter, it's closely tied to the generator's fuel tank size. To get a comprehensive understanding, fuel efficiency must also be taken into account. This inverter generator doesn't excel in fuel efficiency when compared to others of its kind: it consumes approximately 0.24 GPH at a 25% load. If you wish to acquire one of the most gasoline efficient products of this power range, the Honda EU3200i, with a fuel consumption of 0.14 GPH could be in your good books.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 2500-3500W dual fuel inverter generators, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

About Westinghouse
The US based Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment is a legacy subsidiary of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, founded in 1886. While the company has been acquired and merged into the American CBS, the Westinghouse name remains as the brand name for many of their electrical solutions, which stretch across the scale from power plants to portable generators. Portable generators – the main product of the Outdoor Power Equipment branch of Westinghouse – used to be manufactured by Westpro Power Systems, which was bought in 2016 by Midwest Equipment. Lawn equipment, such as trimmers and blowers, is also sold under the Westinghouse brand name. All of their products are designed in the US. However, they are in many cases manufactured in China and Vietnam.

does it need a high altitude kit for operation up to 10,000 feet (Asked May 14, 2025)
A high altitude kit is required for operation at altitudes over 5,000 ft. Operation without the altitude kit will cause decreased performance, increased fuel consumption, and increased emissions.

User Reviews
Westinghouse’s DBA noise rating is false, I have this generator and it’s at best 61 DBA from 25 feet in the grass. I spoke to a Westinghouse customer service person and asked them why they list almost all of their Inverter Generations at 52 DBA. They said that just what they do.. WHAT?? I have also looked at many YouTube reviews for Igen4500,4000,2200,2500,2550 done by reputable YouTubers and NONE of them have rated any of these models below 60 DBA from 25 feet. I’m not saying they are not good generators because they are good. It would expect Westinghouse to list accurate rating and not deceive the consumers with false ratings !!
