Power & Run Time
Thanks to its dual-fuel technology, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc provides a 120V output and offers both versatility and power. When utilizing gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 3,300W and a starting wattage of 4,000W. Alternatively, when operating on propane, it provides 2,970 running watts and 3,600 starting watts. Furthermore, its parallel capability (parallel kit included) allows for increasing of power output when connected to another similar or compatible unit, ensuring expanded energy capacity and reliability for various applications.
Enjoying a low noise rating of 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than rainfall) which earned this unit its place in our list of the 10 quietest portable generators, it can be started thanks to a traditional recoil pull-start mechanism, but also to a straightforward and intuitive electric starter (battery included). Moreover, to offer you even more convenience, the iGen4000DFc can also be remotely started (key fob included).
With a fuel capacity of 1.66 gallon, the iGen4000DFc can operate for up to 7 hours using gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.24 GPH), or for up to 17 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.28 GPH) using propane.
The iGen4000DFc generates a clean sine wave: providing <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), delicate electronics can be plugged in its AC outlets safely.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 3 AC outlets:
Additionally, it features 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) designed for hassle-free charging of various electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets, ensuring uninterrupted usage.
The inclusion of a TT-30R receptacle (TT for 'Travel Trailer') makes this Westinghouse generator RV Ready, ideal for providing power to recreational vehicles.
Portability
With its enclosed inverter generator design (L21.3 x W12.6 x H19.3 in), the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc offers superior aesthetics and operates with minimized noise levels, distinguishing itself from standard, open frame generators. The design follows the contemporary trends and is perfect for recreationally generating power.
With a dry weight of 62.8 lbs, the iGen4000DFc can easily follow you wherever your power needs are. Furthermore, thanks to its set of 2 wheels and its telescopic handle, shifting the generator once it's placed is a breeze.
Features
To help you monitor the iGen4000DFc's status and activity, its control panel is equipped with a digital data center, giving you information on the voltage, lifetime run hours, power output and fuel level. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.
In addition to this info, light indicators on the device will notify you if the generator is ready, the generator is on overload and its oil levels are insufficient.
As for its security measures, the device features an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), letting you use it with a peace of mind.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
While the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), helpful for starting the device promptly, come with the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc, the following accessories are also included: tool kit, oil, battery charger, funnel, propane hose and key fob.
The Westinghouse iGen4000DFc versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- Regarding weight, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc comes in at only 62.8 pounds, positioning itself as one of the lighter options among inverter generators spanning from 2500 to 3500 in rated wattage. If weight is a key factor for your needs, the Pulsar PGD40iSCO is noteworthy for being one of the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 46 pounds.
- Rated at a lowest possible noise level of 52 dBA, this inverter generator positions itself amongst the more quiet of the products of similar type and power. If you’d prefer a less noisy device, one of the most quiet devices, which share the same power range with this one, is the Honda EU3000iS, whose lowest noise levels reach just 50 dBA.
- Concerning its runtime, the iGen4000DFc provides up to 7 hours at a 25% load, indicating that it falls on the lower side compared to other generators of its type and power range. If you consider autonomy on a single full tank as one of the deciding factors, one of the generators in the same power range that offers the highest run time is the Champion 200977, with up to 22 hours.
- Even though run times are undoubtedly important, they are dependent on the fuel capacity to a large extent. For a more wholesome picture, we must take into consideration the fuel consumption of the generator. This inverter generator is rather wasteful, compared to other devices within the aforementioned output range, when it comes to gasoline consumption, as it reaches roughly 0.24 GPH at a 25% load. If not satisfied with the afore-mentioned fuel consumption, you may wish to check out the Energizer eZV3500P. With a fuel consumption of as little as 0.13 GPH, it is one of the most efficient generators currently on the market.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 2500-3500W dual fuel inverter generators, the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

About Westinghouse
The US based Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment is a legacy subsidiary of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, founded in 1886. While the company has been acquired and merged into the American CBS, the Westinghouse name remains as the brand name for many of their electrical solutions, which stretch across the scale from power plants to portable generators. Portable generators – the main product of the Outdoor Power Equipment branch of Westinghouse – used to be manufactured by Westpro Power Systems, which was bought in 2016 by Midwest Equipment. Lawn equipment, such as trimmers and blowers, is also sold under the Westinghouse brand name. All of their products are designed in the US. However, they are in many cases manufactured in China and Vietnam.

User Reviews
Westinghouse’s DBA noise rating is false, I have this generator and it’s at best 61 DBA from 25 feet in the grass. I spoke to a Westinghouse customer service person and asked them why they list almost all of their Inverter Generations at 52 DBA. They said that just what they do.. WHAT?? I have also looked at many YouTube reviews for Igen4500,4000,2200,2500,2550 done by reputable YouTubers and NONE of them have rated any of these models below 60 DBA from 25 feet. I’m not saying they are not good generators because they are good. It would expect Westinghouse to list accurate rating and not deceive the consumers with false ratings !!
