Description
Zoom on the Westinghouse iGen2200c
The Westinghouse iGen2200c is the newer version of the popular iGen2200. It's a quiet, compact and lightweight portable inverter generator mostly geared towards:
- Camping and tailgating buffs looking to enhance their experience
- DIYers who wish to improve their efficiency with tools
In the sections ahead, the power characteristics, availability of various outlets, the portability, and any additional features of the device shall be discussed.
Power & Run Time
The Westinghouse iGen2200c's engine, 80 cc Westinghouse OHV 4-stroke, fueled by gasoline, can deliver 120V. It provides a running wattage of 1,800W and reaches a peak wattage of 2,200W. Moreover, the parallel capability (Westinghouse WHPC Parallel Cord (opens in a new tab) not included) enables doubling of power output when paired with another similar or compatible unit, providing increased energy capacity and versatility for a wide range of needs.
The inverter generator features a manual recoil starter system. It is rated for a noise of 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a quiet suburb).
Featuring a 1.14 gallon fuel tank, the iGen2200c can provide power for up to 12 hours on a full tank (with fuel consumption averaging 0.09 gallons per hour).
The iGen2200c ensures a clean sine wave output, boasting <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) to protect your sensitive electronics when connected to its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 2 AC outlets:
It also sports 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) designed for hassle-free charging of various electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets, ensuring uninterrupted usage.
Portability
With an inverter generator design, the Westinghouse iGen2200c features a closed construction (L19.8 x W11.4 x H17.9 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring reduced noise levels, offering a distinct advantage over standard, open frame generators. The featured design follows the latest trends and is ideal for easy and recreational use.
The iGen2200c boasts a weight of merely 47.4 lbs, solidifying its reputation as a lightweight, easily transportable generator. The product’s power can be enjoyed on-the-go, as it can be moved by a single person without trouble. The inclusion of a handle (molded in the case) makes carrying it a breeze, adding to its convenience.
Features
The light indicators show you if the generator is on overload, the oil level is too low and the generator is ready.
As far as security is concerned, the generator can be used with a peace of mind, as it features an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker).
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Along the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), useful for starting the generator right away, the Westinghouse iGen2200c's package also includes these accessories: funnel, tool kit and oil.

The Westinghouse iGen2200c versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Westinghouse iGen2200c compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).
- As its weight is 47.4 pounds, the Westinghouse iGen2200c falls in the expected weight range of the inverters in the 1500-2500 rated wattage category. If you are concerned by weight, one of the champions in the above-mentioned power range is the Genmax GM2000i, with a dry weight of just 34.2 pounds.
- With a lowest noise rating of 52 dBA, the inverter generator is one of the more quiet of the generators of similar type and power. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may be interested in the Honda EU2200i, one of the least noisy generators similarly powerful as this one, rated for 48 dBA.
- At 25% load, the iGen2200c achieves one of the longer run times compared to inverters of similar power, sustaining operations for up to 12 hours. For those prioritizing autonomy, the DuroMax XP2300iH could be considered, as it offers one of the longest run times among generators with similar power output, reaching up to 13 hours.
- Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. With a fuel consumption rate around 0.09 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load, this inverter generator is one of the more fuel-efficient models within the aforementioned wattage range. If not satisfied with the afore-mentioned fuel consumption, you may wish to check out the DuroMax XP2300iH. With a fuel consumption of as little as 0.08 GPH, it is one of the most efficient generators currently on the market.
The bottom line
- CO sensor
- Parallel capable
- Inverter
- Quiet for its power (52 dBA)
- High run time
- Fuel efficient
- Decent weight (47.4 lbs)
- No data center

About Westinghouse
The US based Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment is a legacy subsidiary of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, founded in 1886. While the company has been acquired and merged into the American CBS, the Westinghouse name remains as the brand name for many of their electrical solutions, which stretch across the scale from power plants to portable generators. Portable generators – the main product of the Outdoor Power Equipment branch of Westinghouse – used to be manufactured by Westpro Power Systems, which was bought in 2016 by Midwest Equipment. Lawn equipment, such as trimmers and blowers, is also sold under the Westinghouse brand name. All of their products are designed in the US. However, they are in many cases manufactured in China and Vietnam.
Warranty Information
The Westinghouse iGen2200c is covered under a warranty for up to 3 years. This warranty may be limited and may not cover all parts of the generator.
