Description
Zoom on the Westinghouse iGen2200
In a nutshell, the Westinghouse iGen2200 is a quiet, compact and lightweight portable inverter generator mostly geared towards:
- Tailgating and campground aficionados with the desire of enjoying power anywhere they go
- Amateur DIY lovers
In the sections ahead, the power characteristics, availability of various outlets, the portability, and any additional features of the device shall be discussed.
Power & Run Time
With a 80 cc (3 hp) Westinghouse OHV 4-stroke engine, the Westinghouse iGen2200 operates on gasoline, providing 120V, with a running wattage of 1,800W and a starting wattage of 2,200W. Moreover, the parallel capability (Westinghouse WHPC Parallel Cord (opens in a new tab) not included) enables doubling of power output when paired with another similar or compatible unit, providing increased energy capacity and versatility for a wide range of needs.
Rated for 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a refrigerator), the inverter generator's starting mechanism relies on a simple traditional pull-start mechanism.
Featuring a 1.14 gallon fuel tank, the iGen2200 can provide power for up to 12 hours on a full tank (with fuel consumption averaging 0.09 gallons per hour).
The iGen2200 generates a clean sine wave with <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), ensuring minimal electrical noise and fluctuations. This feature makes it ideal for powering sensitive electronics, providing stable and reliable AC power through the outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the following 2 AC outlets:
Furthermore, it showcases 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports allowing you to conveniently charge electronics such as mobile phones and tablets.
Portability
As an inverter generator, the Westinghouse iGen2200 showcases a closed design (L19.8 x W11.4 x H17.9 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring quieter operation compared to conventional, open frame models. The generator has a contemporary design, convenient for recreationally generating power.
Since the iGen2200 weighs only 46.3 lbs, it can be labeled as a portable lightweight generator. The device can be easily moved by just one person and thus, its power may be enjoyed on-the-go. Its handle (molded in the case) adds to the convenience, making it easy to carry.
Features
When the oil level is too low, the generator is ready and the generator is overloaded, you will be informed by the featured light indicators.
As far as security is concerned, the generator comes with an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, providing peace of mind during use.
Apart from the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to facilitate setup, the Westinghouse iGen2200 features extra accessories: oil, funnel and tool kit.

The Westinghouse iGen2200 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Westinghouse iGen2200 compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).
- At a weight of 46.3 pounds, the Westinghouse iGen2200 places in the expected weight range of the inverter generators in the 1500-2500 rated wattage range. If weight is a key factor for your needs, the Genmax GM2000i is noteworthy for being one of the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 34.2 pounds.
- With a lowest noise rating of 52 dBA, the inverter generator is one of the more quiet of the generators of similar type and power. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may want to take a look at the Honda EU2200i. It's one of the quietest options among generators of similar power, rated at 48 dBA.
- With up to 12 hours of runtime at 25% load, the iGen2200 provides a higher run time when compared to similarly powerful inverters. If concerned with autonomy, one of the products of a comparable power output, which offers the highest run time, is the DuroMax XP2300iH, boasting with up to 13 hours.
- While run time matters, it's heavily influenced by the fuel tank's capacity. Hence, it's important to consider fuel efficiency alongside. Among devices of similar power, this inverter generator has one of the better fuel efficiency, with consumption rates of around 0.09 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load. If gasoline efficiency is at the top of your list, you may want to have a look at the Westinghouse iGen2800c, which has great fuel efficiency, with a gas consumption of only 0.08 gallons per hour.

About Westinghouse
The US based Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment is a legacy subsidiary of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, founded in 1886. While the company has been acquired and merged into the American CBS, the Westinghouse name remains as the brand name for many of their electrical solutions, which stretch across the scale from power plants to portable generators. Portable generators – the main product of the Outdoor Power Equipment branch of Westinghouse – used to be manufactured by Westpro Power Systems, which was bought in 2016 by Midwest Equipment. Lawn equipment, such as trimmers and blowers, is also sold under the Westinghouse brand name. All of their products are designed in the US. However, they are in many cases manufactured in China and Vietnam.
Warranty Information
The Westinghouse iGen2200 is covered under a warranty for up to 3 years. This warranty may be limited and may not cover all parts of the generator.
