Over the following sections, you'll uncover its power characteristics, the selection of outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it includes.
Power & Run Time
Delivering 120/240V, the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc is enhanced by dual-fuel technology, providing power and versatility. Running on gasoline, it boasts a running wattage of 9,000W and a starting wattage of 11,000W. Alternatively, when propane-powered, it delivers 8,000 running watts and 10,000 starting watts. The impressive running wattage makes this unit one of the biggest inverter generators currently on the market. Furthermore, the parallel capability (parallel kit included) offers the advantage of increasing power output when connected to another similar or compatible unit, delivering expanded energy capacity and flexibility for various applications.
With a noise rating of 64 dBA (just slightly more noisy than background music), the inverter generator features a classic hand-operated recoil starting mechanism, but also an easy-to-use and reliable electric starter (battery included). For additional convenience, the iGen11000DFc may also be remotely started (key fob included).
The running time of the iGen11000DFc, with its 7.9 gallons fuel capacity, can reach up to 17 hours on a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.46 GPH). With propane, it can reach up to 9.8 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.48 GPH).
The <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the iGen11000DFc ensures a clean sine wave output, providing a secure power source for your sensitive electronics through its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 4 AC outlets:
With its 14-50R outlet, this Westinghouse unit is RV-ready for owners with a 50-amp service in their RVs. In addition, equipped with a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the iGen11000DFc is engineered to be transfer switch ready, enabling simple hookup to your breaker box to provide backup power for your home during blackouts.
Westinghouse's ST Switch Outlet
The iGen11000DFc is what Westinghouse calls Smart Switch Ready. This means that it features a special outlet that allows for an automatic transfer of power in case of a power outage.
To benefit from this feature, you'll need the Westinghouse ST Switch (opens in a new tab), which is not included with the generator.
Simply put, the ST Switch is a cost-effective and versatile portable automatic transfer switch, which can be installed quickly and easily, without an electrician.
Plug the ST Switch into one of your household 120V outlets, plug your appliances to the ST Switch, and connect the iGen11000DFc to the ST Switch via the special outlet and a 120V cord. The generator will automatically turn on when the power goes out, and automatically turn off when the power returns.
Portability
With an inverter generator design, the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc features a closed construction (L30.2 x W25.2 x H26.6 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring reduced noise levels, offering a distinct advantage over standard, open frame generators. This type of design is the most modern and convenient way to recreationally generate power.
With a weight of 187.4 lbs, the generator is still labeled as 'portable,' denoting its ability to be moved, although its heaviness might restrict easy portability. Nonetheless, the limited maneuverability is compensated for by utilizing its set of 2 wheels and its folding handle, which facilitates shifting once the generator is set on the ground.
Features
The control panel of the iGen11000DFc includes a digital data center, which assists you in monitoring its status and activity, as it provides information on the frequency, voltage, power output, fuel level and lifetime run hours.
In addition to this info, when the oil level is too low, the generator is ready and the generator is on overload, you will be informed by the featured light indicators.
From a security standpoint, the generator is furnished with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), ensuring peace of mind during operation.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
While the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), helpful for starting the device promptly, come with the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc, the following accessories are also included: propane hose, key fob, oil, tool kit, funnel and battery charger.

The Westinghouse iGen11000DFc versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc compare to dual fuel generators of similar power (between 8500 and 9500 W).
- In terms of its weight, the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc weighs merely 187.4 pounds, earning it a spot among the lightest dual fuel generators within the 8500 to 9500 rated wattage category.
- Since this inverter generator is rated for a lowest possible noise of 64 dBA, it can be considered as one of the more quiet of the products generating similar power. If you’d prefer a less noisy device, one of the most quiet devices, which share the same power range with this one, is the DuroMax XP11000iH, whose lowest noise levels reach just 61 dBA.
- At a 25% load, the iGen11000DFc offers up to 17 hours of runtime on a full tank, placing it within the average autonomy range among dual fuel generators of similar power level. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the DuroMax XP10000DX, reaching up to 22 hours.
- The run time is important, but also hugely depends on the capacity of the fuel tank and doesn't mean much if we don't talk about fuel consumption as well. This inverter generator has an estimated fuel consumption of roughly 0.46 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 25% load, rendering it somewhat average compared to devices of a similar output. If minimizing fuel usage is one of your key priorities, the DuroMax XP10000DX is one of the most efficient devices with similar power output, with a gasoline consumption of only 0.38 gallons per hour.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 8500-9500W generators, the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc is on the average side of the price range.

About Westinghouse
The US based Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment is a legacy subsidiary of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, founded in 1886. While the company has been acquired and merged into the American CBS, the Westinghouse name remains as the brand name for many of their electrical solutions, which stretch across the scale from power plants to portable generators. Portable generators – the main product of the Outdoor Power Equipment branch of Westinghouse – used to be manufactured by Westpro Power Systems, which was bought in 2016 by Midwest Equipment. Lawn equipment, such as trimmers and blowers, is also sold under the Westinghouse brand name. All of their products are designed in the US. However, they are in many cases manufactured in China.
