In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
The Westinghouse iGen11000DFc, equipped with dual-fuel technology and delivering 120/240V, ensures both power and versatility. Running on gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 9,000W and a starting wattage of 11,000W. On propane, it provides 8,100 running watts and 10,000 starting watts. Furthermore, its parallel capability (parallel cables (opens in a new tab) not included) allows for increasing of power output when connected to another similar or compatible unit, ensuring expanded energy capacity and reliability for various applications.
Enjoying a noise rating of 64 dBA (just slightly more noisy than background music), this inverter generator offers the versatility of starting with either a simple traditional pull-start mechanism or an easy-to-use and reliable electric starter (battery included). Furthermore, for added convenience, the iGen11000DFc offers remote starting capabilities (key fob included).
The running time of the iGen11000DFc, with its 7.9 gallons fuel capacity, can reach up to 17 hours on a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.46 GPH). With propane, it can reach up to 9.8 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.48 GPH).
The iGen11000DFc produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 4 AC outlets:
With its 14-50R outlet, this Westinghouse unit is RV-ready for owners with a 50-amp service in their RVs. In addition, since it boasts a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the iGen11000DFc is engineered to be transfer switch ready, ensuring easy integration with your breaker box to provide backup power to your home during outages.
Westinghouse's ST Switch Outlet

The ST Switch outlet
The iGen11000DFc is what Westinghouse calls Smart Switch Ready. This means that it features a special outlet that allows for an automatic transfer of power in case of a power outage.
To benefit from this feature, you'll need the Westinghouse ST Switch (opens in a new tab), which is not included with the generator.
Simply put, the ST Switch is a cost-effective and versatile portable automatic transfer switch, which can be installed quickly and easily, without an electrician.
Plug the ST Switch into one of your household 120V outlets, plug your appliances to the ST Switch, and connect the iGen11000DFc to the ST Switch via the special outlet and a 120V cord. The generator will automatically turn on when the power goes out, and automatically turn off when the power returns.
Portability
The Westinghouse iGen11000DFc's characteristic encased inverter generator design (L30.2 x W25.2 x H26.6 in) provides an aesthetic advantage and contributes to quieter operation compared to any ordinary, open frame product. The design follows the contemporary trends and is perfect for recreationally generating power.
While technically classified as 'portable' due to its ability to be moved, the 187.4 lbs of this generator may make manual lifting and transportation somewhat difficult. However, the constrained maneuverability is addressed with the assistance of its set of 2 wheels and its folding handle, allowing for easy shifting once the generator is placed on the ground.
Features
Included in the control panel of the iGen11000DFc, a digital data center assists in tracking its status and activity by providing details on the lifetime run hours, fuel level, power output, voltage and frequency.
In addition to this info, several light indicators serve to show you when the oil level is too low, the generator is ready and the generator is on overload.
From a security standpoint, the generator is furnished with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), ensuring peace of mind during operation.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Alongside the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) for quick setup, the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc is bundled with additional accessories: propane hose, battery charger, tool kit, oil, funnel and key fob.

The Westinghouse iGen11000DFc versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc compare to generators of similar power (between 8500 and 9500 W).
- In terms of its dry weight, the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc stands at only 187.4 lbs, meaning that is one of the lightest devices of the 8500-9500 rated wattage category
- With a lowest noise rating of 64 dBA, the inverter generator is one of the more quiet of the generators of similar power. If you’d prefer a less noisy device, one of the most quiet devices, which share the same power range with this one, is the DuroMax XP11000iH, whose lowest noise levels reach just 61 dBA.
- At 25% load, the iGen11000DFc achieves one of the longer run times compared to devices of similar power, sustaining operations for up to 17 hours. If extended autonomy is what matters most to you, the Westinghouse iGen12000TFc could be an excellent choice, offering one of the longest run times among units in its power category, reaching up to 19 hours.
- Run time is crucial, but it heavily relies on the fuel tank's capacity. Thus, considering fuel efficiency alongside is essential. This inverter generator has an average fuel consumption among comparably powerful devices, as it reaches 0.46 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 25% load. If you're placing a high priority on fuel consumption, the DuroMax XP11000iH, with a low fuel consumption rate of 0.39 GPH, could be an option to consider.

About Westinghouse
The US based Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment is a legacy subsidiary of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, founded in 1886. While the company has been acquired and merged into the American CBS, the Westinghouse name remains as the brand name for many of their electrical solutions, which stretch across the scale from power plants to portable generators. Portable generators – the main product of the Outdoor Power Equipment branch of Westinghouse – used to be manufactured by Westpro Power Systems, which was bought in 2016 by Midwest Equipment. Lawn equipment, such as trimmers and blowers, is also sold under the Westinghouse brand name. All of their products are designed in the US. However, they are in many cases manufactured in China and Vietnam.
