Power & Run Time
With its dual-fuel technology, the WEN DF452iX delivers 120V, and offers power and flexibility. Running on gasoline, it boasts a running wattage of 3,500W and a peak wattage of 4,500W. When powered by propane, it delivers 3,150 running watts and 4,500 peak watts. Moreover, the parallel capability (parallel kit not included) enables increasing of power output when paired with another similar or compatible unit, providing increased energy capacity and versatility for a wide range of needs.
WEN’s Auto Fuel Selection technology automatically selects the fuel source (LPG or gasoline) depending on availability and prioritizes LPG. Thus, if a propane tank with enough LPG is connected, the generator will automatically use LPG. If no propane tank is connected, or if there is not enough LPG remaining in the tank, the generator will use gasoline.
Operating with a noise rating of 58 dBA (less noisy than rainfall), this inverter generator offers two starting options: a classic hand-operated recoil starting mechanism and a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). To increase convenience, the DF452iX offers remote starting functionality, allowing for easy operation from a distance (key fob included).
In terms of its run time capability, the DF452iX, furnished with a 2.2 gallons fuel tank, can maintain operations for around 8.5 hours at 50% load on a full tank of gasoline (with fuel consumption averaging 0.26 gallons per hour). It also provides around 9 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.52 GPH) of operation with propane.
The <1.2% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the DF452iX ensures a clean sine wave output, providing a secure power source for your sensitive electronics through its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the following 3 AC outlets:
Moreover, it boasts 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle enabling simple battery charging for added ease. Since a dual port USB adapter is also included with the unit, you will be able to use the DC receptacle to conveniently charge electronics such as mobile phones and tablets.
The inclusion of a TT-30R receptacle (TT for 'Travel Trailer') makes this WEN generator RV Ready, ideal for providing power to recreational vehicles.
Portability
As an inverter generator, the WEN DF452iX showcases a closed design (L23.2 x W18 x H20.1 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring quieter operation compared to conventional, open frame models. The featured design follows the latest trends and is ideal for easy and recreational use.
With a dry weight of 100 lbs, the DF452iX is manageable, ensuring it can accompany you wherever you need power. Furthermore, with its set of 2 wheels and its folding handle, you can easily relocate the generator once it's set up.
Features
The DF452iX's control panel is equipped with a digital data center, furnishing detailed information on the voltage, fuel level, lifetime run hours, power output and frequency for you to easily track its activity and status.
In addition to this info, when the generator is overloaded, the oil level is too low and the generator is ready, you will be informed by the featured light indicators.
The fuel shutoff feature turns off the flow of fuel, allowing for the DF452iX to use up the remaining fuel from the carburetor before automatically shutting down. This helps fight the build-up and blockages caused by stagnant fuel inside the carburetor, minimizing maintenance while prolonging the unit’s lifespan.
Regarding security, the generator comes with a low fuel automatic shutdown, an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during operation.
The unit also benefits from WEN's CO Watchdog carbon monoxide detection. This system measures the accumulation of poisonous CO gas while the generator is running. If the level of CO gas gets too high, the CO Watchdog system will automatically shut down the generator.
Alongside the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) for quick setup, the WEN DF452iX is bundled with additional accessories: dual port USB adapter, tool kit, funnel, natural gas hose with NPT adapter and key fob. An official storage cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The WEN DF452iX versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the WEN DF452iX compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 3000 and 4000 W).
- As its weight is 100 pounds, the WEN DF452iX falls in the expected weight range of the inverters in the 3000-4000 rated wattage category. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Pulsar PGD40iSCO with only 46 pounds.
- Delivering a rated noise output as low as 58 dBA, this inverter generator is has a quieter operation that most units of similar type and power. For those who are looking for a less noisy device, we suggest the Westinghouse iGen5000DF. With just 52 dBA, it is one of the most quiet devices in this power range.
- Offering around 8.5 hours of running time on a full tank at 50% load, the DF452iX is within the average autonomy range of similarly powerful inverter generators. Concerning the run times, one of the several devices with a comparable output, offering the highest autonomy, is the Firman W03663OF, which is able to run for around 18 hours.
- While run time is vital, it hinges on the fuel capacity. To grasp the full picture, we must also factor in fuel efficiency. At an estimated fuel consumption of 0.26 GPH (gallon per hour) at 50% load, this inverter generator is a rather fuel-efficient one within its wattage category. If gasoline efficiency is at the top of your list, you may want to have a look at the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, which has great fuel efficiency, with a gas consumption of only 0.22 gallons per hour.
Here's a list of the most popular specific comparisons:

User Reviews
IT JUST GETS BETTER!! I bought the next generation DF452ix. I am going to say ( though l am incorrect) the x is for extra. This improved model is the same as the DF452i but has electric start, remote electric start,Co2 monitoring as well as it is Gasoline & Propane powered. The fuel system is completely automatic as can intelligently switch fuel sources. If it senses Propane pressure it will use Propane first. Starting is either pull rope, push button electric or remote key fob. Both models are 4500W. The control panels (DF452i & DF452ix) have noticeable differences.
