Description
Zoom on the WEN DF360iX
To sum up, the WEN DF360iX is a compact and lightweight portable inverter generator tailored for:
- Handcrafting enthusiasts who wish to work on-the-go
- Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
- Tailgating and campground aficionados with the desire of enjoying power anywhere they go
- RV travellers who wish to upgrade their experience to another level
The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the extra features it benefits from.
Power & Run Time
Thanks to its dual-fuel technology, the WEN DF360iX delivers 120V and offers power and versatility. When gasoline-powered, it benefits from a running wattage of 2,900W and a peak wattage of 3,600W. When propane-powered, it has 2,600 rated watts and 3,500 peak watts. Moreover, the parallel capability (parallel kit (opens in a new tab) not included) enables doubling of power output when paired with another similar or compatible unit, providing increased energy capacity and versatility for a wide range of needs.
WEN’s Auto Fuel Selection technology automatically selects the fuel source (LPG or gasoline) depending on availability and prioritizes LPG. Thus, if a propane tank with enough LPG is connected, the generator will automatically use LPG. If no propane tank is connected, or if there is not enough LPG remaining in the tank, the generator will use gasoline.
Operating with a noise level of 65 dBA (just slightly more noisy than background music), the inverter generator starts up via a classic hand-operated recoil starting mechanism.
In terms of its run time capability, the DF360iX, furnished with a 1.53 gallon fuel tank, can maintain operations for around 5 hours at 50% load on a full tank of gasoline (with fuel consumption averaging 0.31 gallons per hour). It also provides around 14 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.34 GPH) of operation with propane.
The DF360iX generates a clean sine wave: providing <1.2% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), delicate electronics can be plugged in its AC outlets safely.
Outlets
The control panel features the following 3 AC outlets:
Moreover, it presents 3 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) with which you may charge electronics, for example mobile phones or tablets, conveniently and a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle with which charging your batteries is made easy.
Featuring a TT-30R receptacle (TT for 'Travel Trailer'), this WEN generator is RV Ready, designed specifically for use with recreational vehicles.
Portability
The WEN DF360iX's characteristic encased inverter generator design (L17.9 x W11.7 x H19.7 in) provides an aesthetic advantage and contributes to quieter operation compared to any ordinary, open frame product. The design follows the contemporary trends and is perfect for recreationally generating power.
Considered a lightweight portable generator, the DF360iX weighs just 49.6 lbs. Thanks to its lightweight design, one person can easily move it around, ensuring power availability wherever you travel. It can also be carried without effort with a featured handle (molded in the case), further improving its convenience.
Features
One of the many DF360iX's features is the digital data center, included in its control panel, which conveniently provides information on the frequency, fuel level, power output, lifetime run hours and voltage and thus, helps you monitor its activity and status.
In addition to this info, light indicators on the device will notify you if the generator is overloaded, the generator is ready and the oil level is too low.
The fuel shutoff feature turns off the flow of fuel, allowing for the DF360iX to use up the remaining fuel from the carburetor before automatically shutting down. This helps fight the build-up and blockages caused by stagnant fuel inside the carburetor, minimizing maintenance while prolonging the unit’s lifespan.
Regarding security, the generator comes with an overload protection (circuit breaker), an automatic low oil shut-off and a low fuel automatic shutdown, providing peace of mind during operation.
The unit also benefits from WEN's CO Watchdog carbon monoxide detection. This system measures the accumulation of poisonous CO gas while the generator is running. If the level of CO gas gets too high, the CO Watchdog system will automatically shut down the generator.
While the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), helpful for starting the device promptly, come with the WEN DF360iX, the following accessories are also included: tool kit, propane hose, oil and funnel. An official storage cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The WEN DF360iX versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the WEN DF360iX compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- As far as its dry weight is concerned, the WEN DF360iX weighs just 49.6 pounds and thus, it is one of the lighter 2500 to 3500 rated wattage inverter generators. if you wish to prioritize weight, the Pulsar PGD40iSCO is one of the top contenders in its power category, weighing only 46 pounds.
- When compared to devices able to produce a similar running wattage, this inverter generator and its lowest emitted noise of 65 dBA is on the noisier side. If you are concerned with noise, check out the Honda EU3000iS, which is one of the least noisy generators in its power range, with a noise rating of just 50 dBA.
- Regarding its autonomy, the autonomy of the DF360iX, reaching around 5 hours at a 50% load, can be considered as low end, compared to other inverters of a roughly equal output. If concerned with autonomy, one of the products of a comparable power output, which offers the highest run time, is the Ryobi RYi4022X, boasting with around 12 hours.
- While the run time is an important parameter, it is dependent on the fuel tank's capacity and thus, doesn't say much on its own unless we consider fuel consumption as well. As this inverter generator uses an estimated 0.31 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 50% load, it finds itself in the average gasoline consumption range of similar products. If you wish to get a unit of similar power, but with one of the best fuel efficiency, you could consider the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, which has an impressively low fuel consumption of 0.22 GPH.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 2500-3500W dual fuel inverter generators, the WEN DF360iX is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.
