Description
Zoom on the WEN DF360iX
In a few words, the WEN DF360iX is a compact and lightweight portable inverter generator perfectly suited for:
- DIYers who wish to improve their efficiency with tools
- Homeowners who want to be able to use the most necessary devices in their household, even during a blackout
- Tailgating and campground aficionados with the desire of enjoying power anywhere they go
- RV travellers who wish to upgrade their experience to another level
In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
The dual-fuel technology of the WEN DF360iX allows for an output of 120V and provides superb power and versatility. If gasoline-powered, the device provides a running wattage of 2,900W and a starting wattage of 3,600W. If propane-powered, it gives 2,600 rated watts and 3,500 starting watts. Furthermore, its parallel capability (parallel kit (opens in a new tab) not included) allows for doubling of power output when connected to another similar or compatible unit, ensuring expanded energy capacity and reliability for various applications.
WEN’s Auto Fuel Selection technology automatically selects the fuel source (LPG or gasoline) depending on availability and prioritizes LPG. Thus, if a propane tank with enough LPG is connected, the generator will automatically use LPG. If no propane tank is connected, or if there is not enough LPG remaining in the tank, the generator will use gasoline.
With a noise rating of 65 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a normal conversation), the inverter generator's starting mechanism is centered around a simple traditional pull-start mechanism.
In terms of its run time capability, the DF360iX, furnished with a 1.53 gallon fuel tank, can maintain operations for around 5 hours at 50% load on a full tank of gasoline (with fuel consumption averaging 0.31 gallons per hour). It also provides around 14 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.34 GPH) of operation with propane.
The DF360iX produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <1.2% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features 3 AC outlets as follows:
Additionally, it features 3 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) enabling convenient charging of devices like mobile phones and tablets and a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle with which you may charge your batteries with ease.
With its TT-30R receptacle (TT standing for 'Travel Trailer'), this WEN generator is RV Ready, perfectly suited for powering recreational vehicles.
Portability
With an inverter generator design, the WEN DF360iX features a closed construction (L17.9 x W11.7 x H19.7 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring reduced noise levels, offering a distinct advantage over standard, open frame generators. This modern design aims to provide an ideal power solution to recreational users.
Considered a lightweight portable generator, the DF360iX weighs just 49.6 lbs. The generator can be moved with ease by only one person and so it can be enjoyed on-the-go. Its handle (molded in the case) adds to the convenience, making it easy to carry.
Features
The control panel of the DF360iX includes a digital data center, which assists you in monitoring its status and activity, as it provides information on the fuel level, power output, frequency, lifetime run hours and voltage.
In addition to this info, light indicators on the device will signal if the generator is ready, the generator is on overload and the oil level is too low.
The fuel shutoff feature turns off the flow of fuel, allowing for the DF360iX to use up the remaining fuel from the carburetor before automatically shutting down. This helps fight the build-up and blockages caused by stagnant fuel inside the carburetor, minimizing maintenance while prolonging the unit’s lifespan.
As for its security measures, the device features an automatic low oil shut-off, an overload protection (circuit breaker) and a low fuel automatic shutdown, letting you use it with a peace of mind.
The unit also benefits from WEN's CO Watchdog carbon monoxide detection. This system measures the accumulation of poisonous CO gas while the generator is running. If the level of CO gas gets too high, the CO Watchdog system will automatically shut down the generator.
Besides the classic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to get you promptly started, the WEN DF360iX also comes with some accessories: tool kit, oil, funnel and propane hose are included. An official storage cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The WEN DF360iX versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the WEN DF360iX compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- Regarding its weight, the WEN DF360iX only weighs in at 49.6 pounds, which means it's one of the lighter inverter generators in the 2500-3500 rated wattage range. In terms of weight, one of the champions in their power range is the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, standing at just 46 lbs.
- When stacked up against other devices of similar running wattage, this inverter generator's lowest possible noise rating of 65 dBA places it in the louder category. If you'd like a less noisy alternative, the Honda EU3000iS is a strong contender. It boasts a noise rating of 50 dBA, placing it among the quietest generators in its power category.
- Regarding its autonomy, the autonomy of the DF360iX, reaching around 5 hours at a 50% load, can be considered as low end, compared to other inverters of a roughly equal output. For those prioritizing autonomy, the Generac iQ3600DF could be considered, as it offers one of the longest run times among generators with similar power output, reaching around 13 hours.
- While run time matters, it's heavily influenced by the fuel tank's capacity. Hence, it's important to consider fuel efficiency alongside. In fact, this inverter generator is not one of the most fuel-efficient options in the aforementioned wattage range: its estimated gasoline consumption at 50% load is around 0.31 GPH. If you're placing a high priority on fuel consumption, the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, with a low fuel consumption rate of 0.22 GPH, could be an option to consider.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 2500-3500W dual fuel inverter generators, the WEN DF360iX is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.

User Reviews
This is a great generator that’s reasonably light weight. It starts easily on gas or propane and runs quietly. The sound level is acceptable as a backup generator in a neighborhood. It’s much quieter than a traditional generator such as the Colman Powermate or a lawn mower. The sound is of a low frequency making it much more acceptable. Inside it appears to be well assembled, all the wires and flex lines are neatly routed. I did not see any oil leaks after the break in. There is one panel for volts, frequency, runtime (per session and total) as well as a % utilization of watts in 25% increments and well as an electronic fuel gauge. I would recommend this generator.
