Description
Zoom on the WEN 56360iX
In a nutshell, the WEN 56360iX is a compact and lightweight portable inverter generator mostly geared towards:
- Handcrafting enthusiasts who wish to work on-the-go
- Homeowners who want to be able to use the most necessary devices in their household, even during a blackout
- Camping and tailgating hobbyists looking for a portable power source
- RV travellers looking for even more independence
In the sections ahead, the power characteristics, availability of various outlets, the portability, and any additional features of the device shall be discussed.
Power & Run Time
The WEN 56360iX's core is the 149 cc OHV 4-stroke engine, which runs on gasoline. With an output of 120V, it provides a running wattage of 2,900W and a peak wattage of 3,600W. Moreover, the parallel capability (parallel kit not included) allows for doubling of power output when paired with another similar or compatible unit, providing increased energy capacity and reliability for diverse needs.
With a noise rating of 65 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a normal conversation), the inverter generator's ignition is facilitated by a conventional pull-start mechanism.
With a fuel capacity of 1.6 gallon, the 56360iX can run for around 5 hours at 50% load when the tank is full (fuel consumption is approximately 0.32 gallons per hour).
Thanks to its low <1.2% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), the 56360iX produces a clean sine wave output, making it safe for your sensitive electronics when utilizing the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel is equipped with the following 3 AC outlets:
Furthermore, it has 3 DC outlets: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle making battery charging a breeze and two 5V USB ports (USB-A) with which charging of electronics like mobile phones and tablets is made convenient.
Thanks to its TT-30R receptacle (TT meaning 'Travel Trailer'), this WEN generator is RV Ready, ready to power your recreational vehicle with ease.
Portability
Since the WEN 56360iX is an inverter generator, its closed design (L17.4 x W11.6 x H19.4 in) not only provides an aesthetic advantage but also contributes to reduced noise levels compared to conventional, open frame devices. The featured design follows the latest trends and is ideal for easy and recreational use.
With its weight totaling only 46.3 lbs, the 56360iX stands out as a lightweight generator. A single person should have no trouble moving it around, ensuring power availability on the go. Adding to its convenience, the handle (molded in the case) enables easy carrying.
Features
A digital data center, one of the features of the 56360iX's control panel, gives you information on the voltage, fuel level, frequency, power output and lifetime run hours, and thus, is helpful for the monitoring of its activity and status.
In addition to this info, the generator's light indicators provide visual feedback when the generator is ready, the generator is overloaded and its oil levels are insufficient.
The fuel shutoff feature turns off the flow of fuel, allowing for the 56360iX to use up the remaining fuel from the carburetor before automatically shutting down. This helps fight the build-up and blockages caused by stagnant fuel inside the carburetor, minimizing maintenance while prolonging the unit’s lifespan.
As for its security measures, the device features an overload protection (circuit breaker), an automatic low oil shut-off and a low fuel automatic shutdown, letting you use it with a peace of mind.
The unit also benefits from WEN's CO Watchdog carbon monoxide detection. This system measures the accumulation of poisonous CO gas while the generator is running. If the level of CO gas gets too high, the CO Watchdog system will automatically shut down the generator.
With the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), letting you start the generator quickly, the WEN 56360iX also comes with several accessories, including: oil, funnel and tool kit.

The WEN 56360iX versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the WEN 56360iX compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- Regarding its weight, the WEN 56360iX only weighs in at 46.3 pounds, which means it's one of the lighter inverter generators in the 2500-3500 rated wattage range. If weight is your top priority, one of the champions in this power category is the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, weighing just 46 pounds.
- When compared to devices able to produce a similar running wattage, this inverter generator and its lowest emitted noise of 65 dBA is on the noisier side. For those who are looking for a less noisy device, we suggest the Honda EU3000iS. With just 50 dBA, it is one of the most quiet devices in this power range.
- As for its runtime, the 56360iX runs for around 5 hours at a 50% load, placing it towards the low end among comparable inverters. If prolonged run time is essential to your needs, you could consider the Ryobi RYi4022X, which offers one of the highest autonomy among devices with similar power output, lasting around 12 hours.
- Though run time is a significant parameter, it's closely tied to the generator's fuel tank size. To get a comprehensive understanding, fuel efficiency must also be taken into account. This inverter generator has an estimated fuel consumption of roughly 0.32 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 50% load, rendering it somewhat average compared to devices of a similar output. To prioritize fuel savings, we advise considering the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, which stands out for its gasoline efficiency, consuming just 0.22 gallons per hour.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 2500-3500W inverter generators, the WEN 56360iX is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.
The bottom line
- Inexpensive
- CO Watchdog
- Several accessories included
- RV Ready
- Parallel capable
- Inverter
- Lightweight (46.3 lbs)
- Decent fuel efficiency
- On the noisy side (65 dBA)
- Relatively low run time

User Reviews
Just purchased a 56360ix generator. 2/1/2024 runs great and is well made. I was holding off on purchasing it because of the posted 65db sound level. Other comparable generators have lower sound levels listed as a bit lower. It is advertised as a “quiet” generator so I decided to give it a try. Glad I did.I am in construction and have had several generators over the years so I have heard how loud a few of them are. I decided to do a comparison with a Honda a EB3000C that I have. The Wen is definitely quieter in non eco mode and much quieter in eco mode.
The Honda is listed as 65db (Generator Bible). I positioned my db meter far enough away from it to have it read 65db. I then shut it off and started the Wen. My results came back as 55db in eco mode and 60db with eco mode off which is more inline with comparable generators. As expected it is definitely not as quiet as a smaller Honda EU220i.
Fuel consumption does appear to be about .32 gal/hr@50% and .16 gal/hr@25%
