Power & Run Time

The Pulsar PG3500MR in use

The Pulsar PG3500MR

Running on gasoline, the Pulsar PG3500MR operates with a 208 cc (7 hp) Ducar OHV 4-stroke engine, delivering 120V, with a running wattage of 3,000W and a peak wattage of 3,500W.

With a noise rating of 69 dBA (less noisy than an office), the generator's starting mechanism is centered around a manual recoil starter system.

The PG3500MR boasts a fuel tank capable of holding 4 gallons, allowing it to run continuously for around 12 hours at 50% load (with fuel usage averaging around 0.33 gallons per hour).

Outlets

The control panel includes the following 2 AC outlets:

Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R)

Furthermore, it has 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A output making battery charging a breeze.

Portability

With its L23.6 x W17.5 x H17.9 in dimensions, the open frame structure of the Pulsar PG3500MR guarantees stability, simplified maintenance access to components, and better air cooling than enclosed units. The generator is designed for ideal use outdoors and in rough environments.

With a dry weight of 92 lbs, the PG3500MR can easily follow you wherever your power needs are. Furthermore, once placed on the floor, simple displacement is possible thanks to its wheel kit and its folding handle.

The Pulsar PG3500MR versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Pulsar PG3500MR compare to generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).

  • With a dry weight of 92 lbs, the Pulsar PG3500MR falls within the expected weight range for generators in the 2500 to 3500 rated wattage. If weight is your top priority, one of the champions in this power category is the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, weighing just 46 pounds.
  • This generator, with its lowest noise level at 69 dBA, is noisier than most generators of comparable running wattage. If you wish to prioritize minimal noise, the Honda EU3000iS stands out as one of the quietest options among generators of similar power, with a rating of 50 dBA.
  • The PG3500MR provides a higher run time than similarly powerful devices, reaching around 12 hours at 50% load. Concerning the run times, one of the several devices with a comparable output, offering the highest autonomy, is the Predator 4375, which is able to run for around 16 hours.
  • Though run time is a significant parameter, it's closely tied to the generator's fuel tank size. To get a comprehensive understanding, fuel efficiency must also be taken into account. As this generator uses an estimated 0.33 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 50% load, it finds itself in the average gasoline consumption range of similar products. If minimizing fuel usage is one of your key priorities, the Pulsar PGD40iSCO is one of the most efficient devices with similar power output, with a gasoline consumption of only 0.22 gallons per hour.

Price comparison

As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 2500-3500W generators, the Pulsar PG3500MR is on the cheap side of the price range.

It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.

Emailed Rick at corporate and he was a problem out the gate. Pulsar won’t stand behind their product and that’s with a three year warranty, my generator is less than a day ol
