Description
Pulsar’s 2,300 Watt Portable Inverter Generator is a prime choice for clean power and safe to use for most sensitive electronics.
Zoom on the Pulsar PG2300iSCO
In short, the Pulsar PG2300iSCO is a compact and lightweight portable inverter generator adequately designed for:
- Tailgating and campground aficionados with the desire of enjoying power anywhere they go
- DIYers who wish to improve their efficiency with tools
In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
Running on gasoline, the Pulsar PG2300iSCO operates with a 80 cc (3 hp) Ducar OHV 4-stroke engine, delivering 120V, with a running wattage of 1,800W and a peak wattage of 2,300W. In addition, the device is parallel capable (PGiPAIRB2 parallel kit (opens in a new tab) not included) and thus, can be linked to a similar or compatible unit for added power.
Rated for 64 dBA (just slightly more noisy than background music), the inverter generator's starting mechanism relies on a classic hand-operated recoil starting mechanism.
Featuring a 1.2 gallon fuel tank, the PG2300iSCO provides continuous power for around 6 hours at 50% load on a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.2 GPH).
The PG2300iSCO produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel provides the upcoming 2 AC outlets:
In addition, it provides 2 DC outlets: there's a 5V USB port (USB-A) perfect for conveniently charging mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices and a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle making battery charging a breeze.
Portability
With an inverter generator design, the Pulsar PG2300iSCO features a closed construction (L19.6 x W11.2 x H17.9 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring reduced noise levels, offering a distinct advantage over standard, open frame generators. This modern design aims to provide an ideal power solution to recreational users.
With a weight of only 47.1 lbs, the PG2300iSCO is deisgned to be a lightweight and easily portable generator. As it can be moved by a single person without much effort, the generator and its power can be enjoyed on-the-go. In addition, a handle (molded in the case) lets you carry it easily and further increases its convenience.
Features
When the generator is ready, the generator is overloaded and the oil level is too low, you will be informed by the featured light indicators.
From a security standpoint, the product offers an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, allowing you to use it with a peace of mind.
The unit also benefits from Pulsar's CO Sentry carbon monoxide detection. The sensor monitors for the accumulation of poisonous carbon monoxide gas around the generator, and shuts down the engine is increasing levels of CO gas are detected.
Alongside the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) for quick setup, the Pulsar PG2300iSCO is bundled with additional accessories: tool kit, funnel and oil.

The Pulsar PG2300iSCO versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Pulsar PG2300iSCO compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).
- At a weight of 47.1 pounds, the Pulsar PG2300iSCO places in the expected weight range of the inverter generators in the 1500-2500 rated wattage range. If you are mindful of weight, the Genmax GM2000i is among the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 34.2 pounds.
- This inverter generator, with its lowest possible noise rated at 64 dBA falls into the more noisy category, compared to other devices of a similar running wattage. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may be interested in the Honda EU2200i, one of the least noisy generators similarly powerful as this one, rated for 48 dBA.
- In terms of autonomy, the PG2300iSCO offers around 6 hours at a 50% load, placing it at the lower range within its type and power range. Furthermore, considering the run times, one of the generators which have a roughly same power output, with the highest autonomy, is the Westinghouse iGen2200, as it provides around 10 hours.
- Run time is a key metric, but it's dependent on the generator's fuel capacity. Therefore, discussing fuel efficiency is necessary to get the full picture. Among generators of similar output, this inverter generator ranks somewhat poorly in fuel efficiency, with an estimated consumption of 0.2 GPH at a 50% load. If not satisfied with the afore-mentioned fuel consumption, you may wish to check out the Westinghouse iGen2200. With a fuel consumption of as little as 0.11 GPH, it is one of the most efficient generators currently on the market.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 1500-2500W inverter generators, the Pulsar PG2300iSCO is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.
The bottom line
- Inexpensive
- CO Sentry technology
- Parallel capable
- Inverter
- Decent weight (47.1 lbs)
- No data center
- On the noisy side (64 dBA)
- Relatively low run time
- Low fuel efficiency
