Zoom on the Pulsar PG2200BiS
In a nutshell, the Pulsar PG2200BiS is a compact and lightweight portable inverter generator mostly geared towards:
- Camping and tailgating hobbyists looking for a portable power source
- DIYers who wish to improve their efficiency with tools
In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
Featuring dual-fuel technology, the Pulsar PG2200BiS provides 120V, as well as versatility and power. Running on gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 1,800W and a peak wattage of 2,200W. Alternatively, when fueled by propane, it offers 1,600 running watts and 2,000 peak watts. Furthermore, its parallel capability (PGiPAIRB2 parallel kit (opens in a new tab) not included) allows power output to double when connected to another similar or compatible unit, ensuring expanded energy capacity and reliability for various applications.
Featuring a noise rating of 60 dBA (just as noisy as a normal conversation), the inverter generator utilizes a simple traditional pull-start mechanism for ignition.
Regarding its running time, the PG2200BiS, with a 1.2 gallon fuel tank, can operate for around 8 hours at 50% load with a full gasoline tank (with fuel consumption estimated at around 0.15 gallons per hour). It also offers around 20 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.24 GPH) of operation when using propane.
Delicate electronics can be plugged in the AC outlets safely, as the PG2200BiS generates a clean sine wave, reaching a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD).
Outlets
The control panel is equipped with the following 2 AC outlets:
Furthermore, it showcases 1 DC outlet: there's a 5V USB port ensuring convenient charging of devices like mobile phones and tablets, for connectivity on the go.
Portability
With its enclosed inverter generator design (L18 x W12 x H20 in), the Pulsar PG2200BiS offers superior aesthetics and operates with minimized noise levels, distinguishing itself from standard, open frame generators. This modern design aims to provide an ideal power solution to recreational users.
With a dry weight of 54 lbs, the PG2200BiS is manageable, ensuring it can accompany you wherever you need power. Moreover, shifting the PG2200BiS is an easy task, as it features a nifty handle (molded in the case) that greatly improves grip.
Features
When the generator is on overload, the oil level is too low and the generator is ready, you will be informed by the featured light indicators.
From a security point of view, the generator is equipped with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), giving you a peace of mind during use.
Besides the classic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to get you promptly started, the Pulsar PG2200BiS also comes with some accessories: oil, propane hose, tool kit and funnel are included.

The Pulsar PG2200BiS versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Pulsar PG2200BiS compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).
- With its weight of 54 lbs, the Pulsar PG2200BiS is one of the heavier inverter generators in the 1500-2500 rated wattage category. Weight-conscious users may find the Genmax GM2000i appealing, as it is one of the top contenders in this power range, weighing just 34.2 pounds.
- This inverter generator, with its lowest noise level at 60 dBA, is noisier than most generators of comparable running wattage. If you wish to prioritize minimal noise, the Honda EU2200i stands out as one of the quietest options among generators of similar power, with a rating of 48 dBA.
- Compared to inverters of similar power, the PG2200BiS stands out with one of the higher run times, lasting around 8 hours at 50% load. If runtime is a priority for you, the Westinghouse iGen2200 stands out as one of the generators with the longest run time in its power range, providing around 10 hours of continuous use.
- Even though run times are undoubtedly important, they are dependent on the fuel capacity to a large extent. For a more wholesome picture, we must take into consideration the fuel consumption of the generator. This inverter generator provides better fuel efficiency than most others in its wattage range, consuming approximately 0.15 GPH (gallon per hour) at 50% load. If you are concerned with gasoline efficiency, having a fuel consumption of just 0.11 GPH, the Westinghouse iGen2200 is a device you could look out for.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 1500-2500W dual fuel inverter generators, the Pulsar PG2200BiS is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.

User Reviews
Great little generator if the output is all you need. Relatively quiet, seems reliable enough, and very cheap if you can find it on sale. If I paid full price, I would get a nicer/larger unit from a different manufacturer, but at under $350, it’s awesome. Being able to run on propane is a huge selling point for reliability. Really wish it came with a runtime meter, but it’s hard to complain.
Overload light came on first time we started it up and nothing was plugged into it at all.
