Description
Zoom on the Predator 8750
In short, the Predator 8750 is a powerful portable inverter generator adequately designed for:
- Food van owners who know that just a short power outage could lose them hundreds of dollars
- Homeowners who want to be sure of their ability to power their fridges, cooking tools, heating and lighting equipment during power failures
- Camping and tailgating buffs looking to enhance their experience
- Professionals who want to ensure that a power failure will not prevent them from working
In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability, and any additional features of the device.
Power & Run Time
The Predator 8750's engine, 420 cc (12 hp) OHV 4-stroke, fueled by gasoline, can deliver 120/240V. It provides a running wattage of 7,000W and reaches a peak wattage of 8,750W.
The inverter generator, rated for a noise of 75 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a vacuum cleaner), provides flexibility in starting, offering both a simple traditional pull-start mechanism and a convenient and easy-to-use electric starter (battery included).
The fuel capacity of 5.9 gallons allows the 8750 to operate for up to 15 hours with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.39 GPH).
The 8750 generates a clean sine wave with <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), ensuring minimal electrical noise and fluctuations. This feature makes it ideal for powering sensitive electronics, providing stable and reliable AC power through the outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 5 AC outlets:
Furthermore, it showcases 3 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) enabling convenient charging of devices like mobile phones and tablets and a 12V 10A receptacle offering a convenient battery charging option.
As the 8750 holds a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: you'll easily be able to connect it to your breaker box to power your home during a power outage.
Portability
The standard open frame design of the Predator 8750 provides stability and easy maintenance access to components, as well as good air circulation. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.
Even though this device may be technically portable (as in movable), manipulation and transportation without special equipment can be a challenge, as it weighs 151 pounds. Nonetheless, the limited maneuverability is compensated for by utilizing its set of wheels (⌀10") and its folding handle, which facilitates shifting once the generator is set on the ground.
Features
To help you monitor the 8750's status and activity, its control panel is equipped with a convenient meter showing you voltage, frequency and lifetime hours.
In addition to this info, the device's light indicators will illuminate to indicate if the oil level is too low, the generator is on overload and the generator is ready.
The built-in fuel gauge of the inverter generator ensures simple and quick gas level assessments.
As far as security is concerned, the generator comes with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during use.
The unit also benefits from the Predator's CO SECURE™ carbon monoxide detection. This system monitors the accumulation of CO gas while the generator is running and will shut off the engine if the levels become dangerously high.
Along the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), useful for starting the generator right away, the Predator 8750's package also includes these accessories: tool kit, funnel and battery charging cables.

The Predator 8750 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Predator 8750 compare to generators of similar power (between 6500 and 7500 W).
- Considering its weight, the Predator 8750 registers at a modest 151 pounds, placing it among the lighter generators in the 6500 to 7500 rated wattage selection. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Sportsman GEN85KIDF with only 133 pounds.
- With noise emissions reaching as low as 75 dBA, this inverter generator has a noise level typical for devices of its power category. If noise level is one your key decisive factors, you may find the Powerhorse 7500i appealing. It's rated at 55 dBA, making it one of the quietest generators in its power range.
- At a 25% load, the 8750's up to 15 hours of runtime on a full tank fall within the average autonomy range for similarly powerful generators. If extended autonomy is what matters most to you, the DuroMax XP8500EH could be an excellent choice, offering one of the longest run times among units in its power category, reaching up to 25 hours.
- Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. Standing at an estimated 0.39 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 25% load, this inverter generator is somewhat average in this area compared to other devices, within the aforementioned wattage range. If fuel consumption is your top priority, we suggest to check out the DuroMax XP7500DX, which has a fuel consumption of only 0.29 GPH and thus, is one of the most efficient devices in our database.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 6500-7500W inverter generators, the Predator 8750 is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.
The bottom line
- Inexpensive
- CO SECURE™ technology
- Several accessories included
- GFCI Outlets
- Electric start
- Inverter
- Lightweight for its kind (151 lbs)
- Acceptable noise (75 dBA)
- Decent run time
- Decent fuel efficiency
- No 50-amp output

User Reviews
Not a good product the Module Assembly went out 2 years into the purchase. The part alone is $350 and that’s is I install it.
Had the Predator 8750 now for 3 years. On day 4 of this power outtage and its still running strong. Keep the oil changed. Add fuel stabilizer if gas is going to set in it for awile, Start it regularly. I run mine about 1/2 hour every 2 months.
there are no ERROR codes listed anywhere, not in the owners manual not online. What is the big secret. Need this generator to charge up me solar batteries but not gonna happen tonight, Very dismal.
Bought this generator and only used it maybe 15 days. The generator has stopped putting out enough voltage. Harbor Freight is a HORRIBLE company to buy generators from. I am sitting here with this generator and HARBOR FREIGHT cannot tell you how to fix it. DO NOT BUY FROM HARBOR FREIGHT AND DO NOT BUY THIS GENERATOR .
Need a schematic. Price point is excellent as all harbor freight tools are. BUT get what you pay for.mine will not start by Battery.
This is an inverter generator and for the price that is a big selling point, however I don’t understand why they recommend using a surge protector with it. I am using one, but don’t see why it is necessary for an inverter.
Like anything if you take care of it,it will take care of you.Did a lot of research on generators the 8750 was a no brainer if you want to add natural gas, propane it can be done easily.Other predator older model 9000 is still going strong for 551 bucks try to beat that.
good generator if only had support from Predator when info. neded.
Just bought one today. Had a problem with a bad vendor on the champion version 100520. Have a Honda eu2000 with 550 hours, zero problems, regular maintenance. Needed to power well pump, fridge, freezer, etc. Not for hvac or water heater. Started up great. Nice idle control, about as loud as a riding mower when running close to 7000 watts. Running a 30 amp transfer to main.
