Zoom on the Predator 8750
In a nutshell, the Predator 8750 is a powerful portable inverter generator mostly geared towards:
- Food truck owners who do not wish to see their business interrupted under any circumstances
- Homeowners who want to be able to use the most necessary devices in their household, even during a blackout
- Camping and tailgating hobbyists looking for a portable power source
- Professionals who want to be able to deliver results, even during a power failure
In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability, and any additional features of the device, along with its emission compliance information.
Power & Run Time
The Predator 8750's core is the 420 cc (12 hp) OHV 4-stroke engine, which runs on gasoline. With an output of 120/240V, it provides a running wattage of 7,000W and a peak wattage of 8,750W.
At a noise rating of 75 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a vacuum cleaner), this inverter generator can be started via a conventional pull-start mechanism, or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included).
The 8750 can operate for up to 15 hours with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.39 GPH), due to its fuel capacity of 5.9 gallons.
Delicate electronics can be plugged in an AC outlets safely, as the 8750 generates a clean sine wave, reaching a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD).
Outlets
The control panel features the following 5 AC outlets:
Furthermore, it has 3 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) with which you may charge electronics, for example mobile phones or tablets, conveniently and a 12V 10A receptacle with which you may charge your batteries with ease.
Because the 8750 is equipped with a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: it can power your home during a power outage, as it can be easily connected to your breaker box to power your household.
Portability
The design of the Predator 8750 is a typical, open frame, offering support and stability and enabling the possibility of raising it above ground level. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.
Although this generator is technically considered 'portable' (in the sense that it can be moved), its 151 lbs make it incredibly difficult to manually lift and transport. Nevertheless, it can still be moved quite conveniently with the help of its set of wheels (⌀10") and its folding handle, once it is placed on the ground.
Features
The 8750's status and activity may be monitored conveniently via the control panel, as it features a convenient meter, which displays voltage, frequency and lifetime hours.
In addition to this info, some light indicators allow you to instantly see if the oil level is too low, the generator is on overload and the generator is ready.
The fuel level of the inverter generator can be determined quickly, easily, and conveniently with the help of its built-in fuel gauge.
From a security standpoint, the product offers an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), allowing you to use it with a peace of mind.
The unit also benefits from the Predator's CO SECURE™ carbon monoxide detection. This system monitors the accumulation of CO gas while the generator is running and will shut off the engine if the levels become dangerously high.
Apart from the typical documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), which lets you start it right away, the Predator 8750 also is packed along with the following accessories: tool kit, funnel and battery charging cables.
Emissions
The Predator 8750 is EPA-approved and CARB-compliant. Therefore, its sale and purchase are permitted in all of the 50 states, including California.
Moreover, it features a spark arrestor, making it usable in forested areas.
The unit also meets the ANSI/PGMA G300-2018 safety and performance requirements.

The Predator 8750 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Predator 8750 compare to generators of similar power (between 6500 and 7500 W).
- In terms of its dry weight, the Predator 8750 stands at only 151 lbs, meaning that is one of the lighter devices of the 6500-7500 rated wattage category If weight is your top priority, one of the champions in this power category is the Sportsman GEN85KIDF, weighing just 133 pounds.
- Among the generators of a comparable running wattage, this inverter generator with a lowest noise of 75 dBA can be judged as noisy. For those who are looking for a less noisy device, we suggest the Powerhorse 7500i. With just 55 dBA, it is one of the most quiet devices in this power range.
- The 8750, offering a run time of up to 15 hours with a full tank at a 25% load, falls within the average autonomy range when compared to its peers. If concerned with autonomy, one of the products of a comparable power output, which offers the highest run time, is the DuroMax XP8500EH, boasting with up to 25 hours.
- While the run time is an important parameter, it is dependent on the fuel tank’s capacity and thus, doesn’t say much on its own unless we consider fuel consumption as well. As this inverter generator uses an estimated 0.39 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 25% load, it finds itself in the average gasoline consumption range of similar products. If you wish to acquire one of the most gasoline efficient products of this power range, the DuroMax XP7500DX, with a fuel consumption of 0.29 GPH could be in your good books.
Price comparison
As you can see from this interactive chart, when compared to other 6500-7500W inverter generators, the Predator 8750 is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.
The bottom line
- Inexpensive
- CO SECURE™ technology
- Several accessories included
- GFCI Outlets

User Reviews
Bought this generator and only used it maybe 15 days. The generator has stopped putting out enough voltage. Harbor Freight is a HORRIBLE company to buy generators from. I am sitting here with this generator and HARBOR FREIGHT cannot tell you how to fix it. DO NOT BUY FROM HARBOR FREIGHT AND DO NOT BUY THIS GENERATOR .
Need a schematic. Price point is excellent as all harbor freight tools are. BUT get what you pay for.mine will not start by Battery.
This is an inverter generator and for the price that is a big selling point, however I don’t understand why they recommend using a surge protector with it. I am using one, but don’t see why it is necessary for an inverter.
Like anything if you take care of it,it will take care of you.Did a lot of research on generators the 8750 was a no brainer if you want to add natural gas, propane it can be done easily.Other predator older model 9000 is still going strong for 551 bucks try to beat that.
good generator if only had support from Predator when info. neded.
Just bought one today. Had a problem with a bad vendor on the champion version 100520. Have a Honda eu2000 with 550 hours, zero problems, regular maintenance. Needed to power well pump, fridge, freezer, etc. Not for hvac or water heater. Started up great. Nice idle control, about as loud as a riding mower when running close to 7000 watts. Running a 30 amp transfer to main.
