Zoom on the Predator 4375

In short, the Predator 4375 is a compact portable generator adequately designed for:

  • RV travellers wishing to enhance their freedom and nomad lifestyle
  • People occasionally participating in outdoor fairs, festivals or events
  • Handcrafting enthusiasts who wish to work on-the-go
  • Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
  • Professionals who want to ensure that a power failure will not prevent them from working

In the upcoming sections, you'll discover its power characteristics, the array of outlets it presents, its overall portability, and the additional features it possesses.

Power & Run Time

The Predator 4375 in use

The Predator 4375

The Predator 4375 houses a 212 cc (6.5 hp) OHV 4-stroke engine, which provides 120/240V, consumes gasoline and delivers a running wattage of 3,500W along with a peak wattage of 4,375W.

With a noise rating of 72 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a dishwasher), the generator's ignition is facilitated by a classic hand-operated recoil starting mechanism.

Thanks to a fuel capacity of 4.8 gallons, the 4375 can operate for around 16 hours at 50% load with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.3 GPH).

Outlets

The control panel features the upcoming 5 AC outlets:

Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle

It also sports 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle with which charging your batteries is made easy.

With its twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the 4375 is designed to be transfer switch ready, allowing easy connection to your breaker box for powering your home during a blackout.

Portability

Measuring L23.3 x W18.7 x H19.3 in, the classic open frame build of the Predator 4375 delivers stability and easy maintenance access to components, facilitating air circulation. The device has been designed for tough environments and demanding outdoor use.

Since the generator weighs 105 lbs, it will be incredibly difficult to manually lift it and transport it, even though it is technically considered to 'be portable' (in the sense that it is movable). Nevertheless, thanks to a wheel kit (separate purchase), the generator can be easily moved, once placed on the ground.

Features

Panel of the Predator 4375

The 4375's control panel

A light indicator on the device will signal if the oil level is too low.

The generator allows for a quick, easy and convenient assessment of its gas level, as it is equipped with a built-in fuel gauge.

In terms of security, the generator features an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, ensuring peace of mind during its use.

The unit also benefits from the Predator's CO SECURE™ carbon monoxide detection. This system monitors the accumulation of CO gas while the generator is running and will shut off the engine if the levels become dangerously high.

Beyond the regular documentation and owner's manual (opens in a new tab) for quick start, Predator has included a tool kit in the packaging of the 4375.

Product Video

The Predator 4375 versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Predator 4375 compare to generators of similar power (between 3000 and 4000 W).

  • With a dry weight of 105 pounds, the Predator 4375 finds itself in the expected weight range for generators able to produce between 3000 and 4000 rated watts. Regarding dry weight, one of the champions in the same power range is the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, with a dry weight of only 46 lbs.
  • As this generator has its lowest possible noise of 72 dBA, it should be considered noisier compared to its peers of a comparable running wattage. If you’d prefer a less noisy device, one of the most quiet devices, which share the same power range with this one, is the Westinghouse iGen5000DF, whose lowest noise levels reach just 52 dBA.
  • At 50% load, the 4375 achieves one of the longest run times compared to devices of similar power, sustaining operations for around 16 hours.
  • Though run time is a significant parameter, it's closely tied to the generator's fuel tank size. To get a comprehensive understanding, fuel efficiency must also be taken into account. At an estimated fuel consumption of 0.3 GPH (gallon per hour) at 50% load, this generator is a rather fuel-efficient one within its wattage category. If you are concerned with gasoline efficiency, having a fuel consumption of just 0.22 GPH, the Pulsar PGD40iSCO is a device you could look out for.

Price comparison

As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3000-4000W generators, the Predator 4375 is on the cheap side of the price range.

It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.

Can the generator be ran in snowy conditions (Asked February 15, 2021)

Please refer to our article on operating a generator in bad weather.

My question concerns the 240 volt outlet total amperage output. It lists here at (1x 120/240V 30A (L14-30R). So I take this to mean 30 amps even though the label painted on the side says 15 amps maximum. 30 amps would make sense as its combining both of the 15 amp 120 volt circuits. The 4375, the 6500, and the Predator 9000 all list identical outputs in the descriptions but on the unit they differ. So just trying to confirm total amp output as I plan on hooking up to the house panel. (Asked February 17, 2021)

It means that the outlet is 30 amps, as per its NEMA nomenclature (L14-30R). For the Predator 4375, this outlet won't output more than 15 amp. 15A x 240V = 3600W.

What are the valve gaps set at (Asked March 09, 2021)

Intake 0.004" – 0.006", Exhaust 0.006" – 0.008"

Only the two 5-20R duplexes are GFCI protected.

Does this unit require a battery? (Asked October 01, 2021)

The unit does not require a battery.

What is gas mix oil ratio for predator generator (Asked October 30, 2021)

The engine is 4-cycle, so do not mix gasoline with oil.

4375 a real power house in Disguise

    + PROS:
    • We have tasked the predator 4375 to the max and it is still powering our camp and has over 4500 hours on it! The fuel consumption was on point right on 14-16hr in the beginning, but after a issue with the carburetor coming loose and engine leaning out and screaming wide open the fuel consumption has been amazing! I don't know how the engine didn't blow up but we now use about half the fuel and at full load! We run the refrigerator, air conditioner(never shuts off) all the camps lights plus 6 500w halogen work lamps all night to illuminate the yard. Plus skillsaws chop saws and aircompressors! You would think it was the 8750 not the 4375!
    - CONS:
    • A little noisy

Ran our home during a 4~ day outage. Used the HF 50’ generator cable with it. Ran our fridge, all lights, 10k BTU AC, multiple fans and more with ease. Very good on gas. Noise isn’t bad at all. Sounds like every other generator I’ve ever heard.

I live in a neighborhood, if my neighbors are bothered by the noise, they can chip in. Can’t even hear this generator on my back deck while inside with the doors shut.

Really should come with the wheel kit as the photos advertise it with it.

    + PROS:
    • Great value.
    • Long runtime.
    • Easy to start.
    • Not louder than any other generator I’ve ever heard.
    - CONS:
    • Really needs wheel kit. Oil fill in poor location.

Gfi outlets trip continuously while running only 7 amps!! Cannot replace existing 110 ac gfi outlets on the control panel. I have an 1800 Ironton generator that will run the same 7 amp equipment all day long!! I would not recommend purchasing a predator 4375 Generator!!

    • Gfi trips

Bought the generator as a backup power source for our home. Had to buy a wheel kit, but it was easy to install. Wished it had a data center, but I bought one via AMAZON. Hooked the generator to the house panel after having the panel fitted for it. The generator works perfectly in powering everything except the central air, it would power the central heat though. Overall…very happy with the purchase!

    • Easy setup
    • Easy start

I bought the generator wheel kit. I watched a video about the generator. In the video, the man said he’d originally put the wheel mounts on backwards. I looked at the instructions. I tried to determine how to attach the wheel mounts. The kit didn’t come with the correct washers. I couldn’t attach the mounts with the provided washers. I wanted to put washers on both sides of the wheels. That’s what the directions show. I have lots of spare nuts, washers, etc. Unfortunately, didn’t have what was necessary. I had to make a run to the hardware store.
I agree that the oil fill is in a poor location. The generator seems well built. Hopefully, I’ll get many years of use out of it.

    + PROS:
    • Will power a reasonable load.
    - CONS:
    • Doesn't come with a wheel package included. Oil fill is rather inconvenient. Could be a little quieter.

    + PROS:
    • compact, with wheel cart easily movable, price was good.
    - CONS:
