Power & Run Time
Featuring a 163 cc Honda GX160 OHV 4-stroke engine with cast iron sleeve, the Honda EU3000i Handi operates using gasoline, providing 120V, with a running wattage of 2,600W and a starting wattage of 3,000W. Moreover, the parallel capability (Honda parallel cables (opens in a new tab) not included) enables doubling of power output when paired with another similar or compatible unit, providing increased energy capacity and versatility for a wide range of needs.
Enjoying a noise rating of 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a conversation at home), this inverter generator gets running thanks to a traditional recoil pull-start mechanism.
The EU3000i Handi's fuel tank holds 1.6 gallon, ensuring uninterrupted operation for up to 7.7 hours with a full tank (fuel consumption approximately 0.21 GPH).
The EU3000i Handi generates a clean sine wave: providing <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), delicate electronics can be plugged in its AC outlets safely.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 3 AC outlets:
Additionally, it offers 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A receptacle allowing you to easily charge your batteries.
This Honda generator isn't quite RV Ready, but it features an L5-30R receptacle, allowing a simple RV connection through an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor.
Portability
With its enclosed inverter generator design (L24.5 x W14.9 x H19.3 in), the Honda EU3000i Handi offers superior aesthetics and operates with minimized noise levels, distinguishing itself from standard, open frame generators. The generator has a contemporary design, convenient for recreationally generating power.
Weighing 78 lbs, the EU3000i Handi is practical, ensuring it can follow you wherever power is required. Additionally, it can be easily moved with the help of its set of 2 wheels and its folding handle, once it is on the ground.
Features
Regarding security, the generator comes with an automatic low oil shut-off (Oil Alert®) and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during operation.
Regarding its accessories, besides the aforementioned features, the Honda EU3000i Handi's box includes the typical documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), letting you start it right off the bat. An official storage cover is available, as a separate purchase.

The Honda EU3000i Handi versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Honda EU3000i Handi compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- As its weight is 78 pounds, the Honda EU3000i Handi falls in the expected weight range of the inverters in the 2500-3500 rated wattage category. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Pulsar PGD40iSCO with only 46 pounds.
- With a lowest noise rating of 52 dBA, the inverter generator is one of the more quiet of the generators of similar type and power. If noise level is one your key decisive factors, you may find the Honda EU3000iS appealing. It's rated at 50 dBA, making it one of the quietest generators in its power range.
- Regarding its autonomy, the EU3000i Handi can run for up to 7.7 hours at a 25% load, aligning it with the lower performers in its type and power range. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the Champion 200977, reaching up to 22 hours.
- Run time is a key metric, but it's dependent on the generator's fuel capacity. Therefore, discussing fuel efficiency is necessary to get the full picture. When it comes to fuel efficiency among generators with similar wattage, this inverter generator lags behind, with a consumption rate of 0.21 GPH at a 25% load. To prioritize fuel savings, we advise considering the Energizer eZV3500P, which stands out for its gasoline efficiency, consuming just 0.13 gallons per hour.
The bottom line
- Parallel capable
- Inverter
- Quiet for its power (52 dBA)
- Decent weight (78 lbs)
- No data center
- No electric start
- Relatively low run time
- Low fuel efficiency

These model numbers refer to the same unit, but simply include more or less information regarding its specs, production batch, etc. Read how Honda name their generators.
will this generator power a 15000 RV ac unit? (Asked March 04, 2021)
The approximate wattage required for starting a 15K BTU RV air conditioner is 3500 watts and the approximate wattage for running it is 1500. If your AC unit matches these wattages, the 3000i Handi will not be able to start it. You should determine the actual running and starting wattages of your appliance.
