Zoom on the Honda EU3000i Handi
To sum up, the Honda EU3000i Handi is a quiet and compact portable inverter generator tailored for:
- Handcrafting enthusiasts who wish to work on-the-go
- Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
- Camping and tailgating buffs looking to enhance their experience
- RV travellers wishing to enhance their freedom and nomad lifestyle
Over the following sections, you'll uncover its power characteristics, the selection of outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it includes.
Power & Run Time
Running on gasoline, the Honda EU3000i Handi utilizes a 163 cc Honda GX160 OHV 4-stroke engine to deliver 120V, offering a running wattage of 2,600W and a starting wattage of 3,000W. Furthermore, the parallel capability (Honda parallel cables (opens in a new tab) not included) offers the advantage of doubling power output when connected to another similar or compatible unit, delivering expanded energy capacity and flexibility for various applications.
Operating with a noise level of 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than rainfall), the inverter generator starts up via a conventional pull-start mechanism.
With a full tank, the EU3000i Handi can operate for up to 7.7 hours (fuel consumption around 0.21 GPH), thanks to its fuel capacity of 1.6 gallon.
Delicate electronics can be plugged in the AC outlets safely, as the EU3000i Handi generates a clean sine wave, reaching a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD).
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 3 AC outlets:
Furthermore, it showcases 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A receptacle making battery charging a breeze.
While not classified as 'RV Ready,' this Honda generator can still provides the advantage of RV connection via its L5-30R receptacle, ensuring power supply to your RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor.
Portability
With an inverter generator design, the Honda EU3000i Handi features a closed construction (L24.5 x W14.9 x H19.3 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring reduced noise levels, offering a distinct advantage over standard, open frame generators. This type of design is the most modern and convenient way to recreationally generate power.
The EU3000i Handi can be taken anywhere with you, thanks to its weight of 78 lbs. Additionally, it can be easily moved with the help of its set of 2 wheels and its folding handle, once it is on the ground.
Features
From a security point of view, the generator is equipped with an automatic low oil shut-off (Oil Alert®) and an overload protection (circuit breaker), giving you a peace of mind during use.
Along with the aforementioned features, from an accessory standpoint, the Honda EU3000i Handi's box includes the typical documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), which will help you start your generator promptly. An official storage cover is available, as a separate purchase.

The Honda EU3000i Handi versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Honda EU3000i Handi compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- At 78 lbs dry, the Honda EU3000i Handi is consistent with the standard weight profile for inverters ranging from 2500 to 3500 rated watts. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Pulsar PGD40iSCO with only 46 pounds.
- With a lowest possible noise of 52 dBA, this inverter generator places itself amongst the more quiet of the products delivering similar power. If you are concerned with noise, check out the Honda EU3000iS, which is one of the least noisy generators in its power range, with a noise rating of just 50 dBA.
- Concerning its runtime, the EU3000i Handi provides up to 7.7 hours at a 25% load, indicating that it falls on the lower side compared to other generators of its type and power range. If concerned with autonomy, one of the products of a comparable power output, which offers the highest run time, is the Champion 200977, boasting with up to 22 hours.
- While run time is vital, it hinges on the fuel capacity. To grasp the full picture, we must also factor in fuel efficiency. Among generators of similar output, this inverter generator ranks somewhat poorly in fuel efficiency, with an estimated consumption of 0.21 GPH at a 25% load. If not satisfied with the afore-mentioned fuel consumption, you may wish to check out the Energizer eZV3500P. With a fuel consumption of as little as 0.13 GPH, it is one of the most efficient generators currently on the market.
The bottom line
- Parallel capable
- Inverter
- Quiet for its power (52 dBA)
- Decent weight (78 lbs)
- No data center
- No electric start
- Relatively low run time
- Low fuel efficiency

will this generator power a 15000 RV ac unit? (Asked March 04, 2021)
The approximate wattage required for starting a 15K BTU RV air conditioner is 3500 watts and the approximate wattage for running it is 1500. If your AC unit matches these wattages, the 3000i Handi will not be able to start it. You should determine the actual running and starting wattages of your appliance.
