Description
Zoom on the Genmax GM9000iE
In summary, the Genmax GM9000iE is a powerful portable inverter generator especially useful for:
- Food truck owners who do not wish to see their business interrupted under any circumstances
- Homeowners who want to be sure of their ability to power their fridges, cooking tools, heating and lighting equipment during power failures
- Professionals who want to be able to deliver results, even during a power failure
In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
Genmax GM9000iE is equipped with a 458 cc Dinking OHV 4-stroke engine, running on gasoline and providing 120/240V, boasting a running wattage of 7,600W alongside a starting wattage of 9,000W. In addition, as it is parallel capable (GM9000PK (opens in a new tab) not included), this power can be increased when linked to another similar or compatible unit.
The inverter generator features a classic hand-operated recoil starting mechanism and also a user-friendly and efficient electric starter (battery included). It is rated for a noise of 62 dBA (just slightly more noisy than background music). Furthermore, the GM9000iE can be remotely started, providing users with added ease of use (key fob included).
The GM9000iE can operate for up to 14.5 hours with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.48 GPH), due to its fuel capacity of 6.9 gallons.
The GM9000iE produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features 6 AC outlets as follows:
Moreover, it presents 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) enabling convenient charging of devices like mobile phones and tablets.
Because the GM9000iE is equipped with a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: it can power your home during a power outage, as it can be easily connected to your breaker box to power your household.
Portability
The Genmax GM9000iE's characteristic encased inverter generator design (L30.9 x W22.6 x H29.3 in) provides an aesthetic advantage and contributes to quieter operation compared to any ordinary, open frame product. This type of design is the most modern and convenient way to recreationally generate power.
Although this generator is technically considered 'portable' (in the sense that it can be moved), its 233.7 lbs make may make it challenging to manually lift and transport. Nevertheless, the restricted maneuverability is counteracted by its set of 2 wheels (⌀7") and its folding handle, enabling easy shifting once the generator is set in place.
Features
Featuring a digital data center on its control panel, the GM9000iE offers you convenient access to essential information about the frequency, voltage, power output and lifetime run hours, facilitating effective monitoring of its activity and status.
In addition to this info, some light indicators allow you to instantly see if the generator is ready, its oil levels are insufficient and the generator is on overload.
The built-in fuel gauge of the inverter generator ensures simple and quick gas level assessments.
From a security point of view, the generator is equipped with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), giving you a peace of mind during use.
It also benefits from Genmax's CO DETECT technology, which is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Beyond the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to assist with setup, the Genmax GM9000iE ships with supplementary accessories: key fob, tool kit and funnel.

The Genmax GM9000iE versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Genmax GM9000iE compare to generators of similar power (between 7500 and 8500 W).
- Weighing in at 233.7 lbs, the Genmax GM9000iE is one of the heavier generators available in the 7500-8500 rated wattage segment. if you wish to prioritize weight, the Genmax GM10500XiT is one of the top contenders in its power category, weighing only 123.5 pounds.
- With a lowest possible noise of 62 dBA, this inverter generator places itself amongst the more quiet of the products delivering similar power. If you'd like a less noisy alternative, the DuroMax XP9500iH is a strong contender. It boasts a noise rating of 61 dBA, placing it among the quietest generators in its power category.
- As for its autonomy, the GM9000iE, with an autonomy of up to 14.5 hours at a 25% load, is placed on the low end among the generators of its kind. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the DuroMax XP10000EH, reaching up to 22 hours.
- Run time is a key metric, but it's dependent on the generator's fuel capacity. Therefore, discussing fuel efficiency is necessary to get the full picture. This inverter generator doesn't excel in fuel efficiency when compared to others of its kind: it consumes approximately 0.48 GPH at a 25% load. If you're placing a high priority on fuel consumption, the DuroMax XP9500iH, with a low fuel consumption rate of 0.34 GPH, could be an option to consider.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 7500-8500W inverter generators, the Genmax GM9000iE is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

User Reviews
I love everything about this generator but….it keeps shutting down when the load on the indicator gets up to 4k watts. It’s advertised to be 9000 peak 7600 running, but that’s not happening for me….Would appreciate any help here…
