Description

Zoom on the Genmax GM9000iE

In short, the Genmax GM9000iE is a powerful portable inverter generator adequately designed for:

  • Food truck owners who want to ensure that their business is fully self-contained and does not rely on potentially unreliable external power
  • Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
  • Camping and tailgating buffs looking to enhance their experience
  • Professionals who want to ensure that a power failure will not prevent them from working

In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability, and any additional features of the device.

Power & Run Time

The Genmax GM9000iE in use

The Genmax GM9000iE

The Genmax GM9000iE is powered by a 458 cc Dinking OHV 4-stroke engine. It delivers 120/240V, runs on gasoline and offers a running wattage of 7,600W as well as a peak wattage of 9,000W. Additionally, the parallel capability (GM9000PK (opens in a new tab) not included) facilitates increasing of power output when linked to another similar or compatible unit, offering enhanced energy capacity and reliability for diverse requirements.

With a noise rating of 62 dBA (just slightly more noisy than an office), the inverter generator features a manual recoil starter system, but also a convenient and efficient electric starter (battery included). For added user convenience, the GM9000iE is equipped with remote starting capabilities (key fob included).

Thanks to a fuel capacity of 6.9 gallons, the GM9000iE can operate for up to 14.5 hours with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.48 GPH).

Featuring a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), the GM9000iE delivers a clean sine wave, guaranteeing the safety of your sensitive electronics plugged into its AC outlets.

Outlets

The control panel features the following 6 AC outlets:

Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle
120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle

Furthermore, it has 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) providing convenient charging capabilities for mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices.

With its twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the GM9000iE is configured to be transfer switch ready, allowing straightforward connection to your breaker box to supply backup power to your home during outages.

Portability

The Genmax GM9000iE is an inverter generator and features an encased design with the following dimensions: L30.9 x W22.6 x H29.3 in. This design enhances aesthetics and helps minimize noise levels, distinguishing it from conventional, open frame products. The featured design follows the latest trends and is ideal for easy and recreational use.

As the generator's weight is 233.7 pounds, manually moving it or transporting it may be challenging, despite the fact that it is technically considered 'portable' (movable). Despite the restricted maneuverability, its set of 2 wheels (⌀7") and its folding handle provides a solution, allowing for convenient shifting once the generator is positioned on the ground.

Features

The GM9000iE's control panel

With a digital data center integrated into its control panel, the GM9000iE provides real-time insights into the lifetime run hours, power output, frequency and voltage, enabling easy monitoring of its status and activity.

In addition to this info, several light indicators serve to show you when its oil levels are insufficient, the generator is on overload and the generator is ready.

The inverter generator includes a built-in fuel gauge, a quick, easy and convenient method of checking the device’s gas level.

From a security standpoint, the product offers an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, allowing you to use it with a peace of mind.

It also benefits from Genmax's CO DETECT technology, which is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.

Apart from the typical documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), which lets you start it right away, the Genmax GM9000iE also is packed along with the following accessories: key fob, funnel and tool kit.

The Genmax GM9000iE versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Genmax GM9000iE compare to generators of similar power (between 7500 and 8500 W).

  • With its weight of 233.7 lbs, the Genmax GM9000iE is one of the heavier generators in the 7500-8500 rated wattage category. If weight is your top priority, one of the champions in this power category is the Westinghouse ecoGen10000, weighing just 147.7 pounds.
  • With a noise rating as low as 62 dBA, this inverter generator is among the quieter options available in its power range. If you value reduced noise levels, the DuroMax XP9500iH could be worth considering. It's one of the quietest generators in its power range, rated at 61 dBA.
  • In terms of autonomy, the GM9000iE offers up to 14.5 hours at a 25% load, placing it at the lower range within its power range. Furthermore, considering the run times, one of the generators which have a roughly same power output, with the highest autonomy, is the DuroMax XP10000DX, as it provides up to 22 hours.
  • While run time matters, it's heavily influenced by the fuel tank's capacity. Hence, it's important to consider fuel efficiency alongside. Among generators of similar output, this inverter generator ranks somewhat poorly in fuel efficiency, with an estimated consumption of 0.48 GPH at a 25% load. If you wish to acquire one of the most gasoline efficient products of this power range, the DuroMax XP9500iH, with a fuel consumption of 0.34 GPH could be in your good books.
According to our stats, the following comparison is pretty popular: Genmax GM9000iE vs Predator 9500.

Price comparison

As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 7500-8500W generators, the Genmax GM9000iE is on the average side of the price range.

Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
