- Professionals in need of safely powering high-intensity work or lighting equipment
In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability, and any additional features of the device.
Power & Run Time
The Genmax GM8000iETC delivers 120/240V and boasts with a tri-fuel technology enabling it to utilize gasoline, propane, or natural gas. When powered by gasoline, it achieves a running wattage of 6,000W and a peak wattage of 8,000W. Upon using propane, it gains 5,500 rated watts and 7,200 peak watts. Its operation with natural gas provides 4,800W of rated wattage and 6,500W of starting wattage. Moreover, since it is parallel capable (parallel kit not included), its power may be increased if linked to a second compatible unit.
The inverter generator, rated for a noise of 62 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a normal conversation), provides flexibility in starting, offering both a classic hand-operated recoil starting mechanism and a user-friendly and hassle-free electric starter (battery included). To increase convenience, the GM8000iETC offers remote starting functionality, allowing for easy operation from a distance (key fob included).
The generator also supports 2-wire start, enabling integration with compatible automatic transfer switches (ATS), solar battery systems, or hybrid inverter setups via a low-voltage contact-closure control circuit.
The running time of the GM8000iETC, with its 3.6 gallons fuel capacity, can reach up to 10 hours on a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.36 GPH). With propane, it can reach up to 9.5 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.49 GPH).
The GM8000iETC generates a clean sine wave with <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), ensuring minimal electrical noise and fluctuations. This feature makes it ideal for powering sensitive electronics, providing stable and reliable AC power through the outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the following 4 AC outlets:
Additionally, it offers 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (1 x USB-A and 1 x USB-C) enabling convenient charging of devices like mobile phones and tablets.
If your RV requires a 50-amp service, consider this Genmax unit RV-ready, as it includes a 14-50R outlet.
Portability
As the Genmax GM8000iETC is an inverter generator, its encased design (L24 x W18.5 x H21.1 in) offers more aesthetics than a conventional, open frame product. This type of design is the most modern and convenient way to recreationally generate power.
While weighing 144.6 lbs, the generator is classified as 'portable,' indicating its mobility, albeit its heftiness may limit portability in specific situations. Nevertheless, the restricted maneuverability is counteracted by its set of 2 wheels and its telescopic handle, enabling easy shifting once the generator is set in place.
Features
Included in the control panel of the GM8000iETC, a digital data center assists in tracking its status and activity by providing details on the frequency, fuel level, voltage, power output and lifetime run hours.
In addition to this info, the generator's light indicators provide visual feedback when the generator is on overload, the oil level is too low and the generator is ready.
As for its security measures, the device features an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), letting you use it with a peace of mind.
It also benefits from Genmax's CO DETECT technology, which is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Along the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), useful for starting the generator right away, the Genmax GM8000iETC's package also includes these accessories: tool kit, funnel and key fob.
Genmax App
Genmax’s app lets you pair your smartphone with your GM8000iETC inverter generator. It allows you to always know exactly what is going on.
Using Bluetooth technology, the generator communicates with the app (available on iOS (opens in a new tab) and Android (opens in a new tab) devices) to conveniently monitor power consumption, fuel level, remaining runtime, and even remotely shut off your generator directly from your smartphone.
The information displayed within the app is identical to the information displayed on the LCD screen of the GM8000iETC.

The Genmax GM8000iETC versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Genmax GM8000iETC compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 5500 and 6500 W).
- With a dry weight of 144.6 lbs, the Genmax GM8000iETC falls within the expected weight range for inverter generators in the 5500 to 6500 rated wattage. In terms of weight, one of the champions in their power range is the Genmax GM6250iET, standing at just 102.6 lbs.
- At 62 dBA, this inverter generator's noise rating is in line with the expected average for devices within its type and power category. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may want to take a look at the Honda EU7000iS. It's one of the quietest options among generators of similar power, rated at 52 dBA.
- In terms of its autonomy, the GM8000iETC can operate for up to 10 hours at a 25% load, placing it within the lower bracket among generators of similar type and power range. If runtime is a priority for you, the Honda EU7000iS stands out as one of the generators with the longest run time in its power range, providing up to 16 hours of continuous use.
- Though run time is a significant parameter, it's closely tied to the generator's fuel tank size. To get a comprehensive understanding, fuel efficiency must also be taken into account. This inverter generator is somewhat less fuel-efficient than devices of comparable output: its estimated fuel consumption reaches 0.36 GPH at a 25% load. If fuel consumption is your top priority, we suggest to check out the DuroMax XP7000iHT, which has a fuel consumption of only 0.19 GPH and thus, is one of the most efficient devices in our database.
