The subsequent sections will explore in detail its power characteristics, the diverse outlets it provides, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it offers.
Power & Run Time
Featuring dual-fuel technology, the Genmax GM6000iED provides 120/240V, as well as versatility and power. Running on gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 5,250W and a peak wattage of 6,000W. Alternatively, when fueled by propane, it offers 4,750 running watts and 5,500 peak watts.
Featuring a noise rating of 63 dBA (just slightly more noisy than background music), the inverter generator is equipped with both a conventional pull-start mechanism and a user-friendly and efficient electric starter (battery included) for starting. Furthermore, the GM6000iED can be remotely started, providing users with added ease of use (key fob included).
With a fuel capacity of 3.8 gallons, the GM6000iED can operate for around 8.5 hours at 50% load using gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.45 GPH), or for around 7.9 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.59 GPH) using propane.
The GM6000iED ensures a clean sine wave output, boasting <5% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) to protect your sensitive electronics when connected to its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 3 AC outlets:
Additionally, it offers 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) perfect for conveniently charging mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices.
Since it boasts a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the GM6000iED is engineered to be transfer switch ready, ensuring easy integration with your breaker box to provide backup power to your home during outages.
Portability
Thanks to its closed inverter generator design (L24 x W18.5 x H21.1 in), the Genmax GM6000iED not only offers superior aesthetics but also operates with reduced noise levels compared to a typical, open frame generator. The design follows the contemporary trends and is perfect for recreationally generating power.
Though weighing 117.9 lbs, the generator remains classified as 'portable,' indicating its capability to be moved, though its weight could pose transport challenges. Nevertheless, it can still be moved quite conveniently with the help of its set of 2 wheels (⌀5.5") and its telescopic handle, once it is placed on the ground.
Features
Designed with a digital data center, the control panel of the GM6000iED grants you access to crucial data on the frequency, lifetime run hours, voltage, power output and fuel level, ensuring practical monitoring of its status and activity.
In addition to this info, when the generator is ready, the generator is overloaded and the oil level is too low, you will be informed by the featured light indicators.
Considering security aspects, the generator boasts an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, offering peace of mind throughout operation.
It also benefits from Genmax's CO DETECT technology, which is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Alongside the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) for quick setup, the Genmax GM6000iED is bundled with additional accessories: propane hose, funnel, key fob and tool kit.

The Genmax GM6000iED versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Genmax GM6000iED compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 4500 and 5500 W).
- Regarding its weight, the Genmax GM6000iED only weighs in at 117.9 pounds, which means it's one of the lighter inverter generators in the 4500-5500 rated wattage range. If weight is an important consideration for you, the Pulsar PGX60BiSRCO stands out as one of the top contenders in this power category, with a dry weight of 93.5 pounds.
- With noise emissions rated as low as 63 dBA, this inverter generator falls within the typical noise range expected for devices of similar type and power. If noise is a concern for you, you could consider the Honda EU7000iS, which is one of the least noisy generators in its power range, rated at 52 dBA.
- Thanks to an impressive running time of around 8.5 hours at 50% load, the GM6000iED benefits from a higher run time than many inverter generators of a similar output. Furthermore, considering the run times, one of the generators which have a roughly same power output, with the highest autonomy, is the Briggs & Stratton Q6500 QuietPower, as it provides around 10 hours.
- Run time is a key metric, but it's dependent on the generator's fuel tank capacity. Therefore, discussing fuel efficiency is necessary for a complete understanding. This inverter generator has an average fuel consumption among comparably powerful devices, as it reaches 0.45 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 50% load. If you wish to acquire one of the most gasoline efficient products of this power range, the DuroMax XP7000iH, with a fuel consumption of 0.38 GPH could be in your good books.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 4500-5500W inverter generators, the Genmax GM6000iED is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

User Reviews
I’ve done quite a few generator reviews and I am a certified professional mechanic. This generator had several quality control issues right out of the box. There were also several design flaws including very bad engine vibrations at idle, poor wire routings, a load pannel that wasn’t accurate, side pannels that had stripped out hardware. Parts and customer service is non existent. Literally. I honestly would stay far away from this line of generators.
