The subsequent sections will explore in detail its power characteristics, the diverse outlets it provides, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it offers.
Power & Run Time
Featuring dual-fuel technology, the Genmax GM6000iED provides 120/240V, as well as versatility and power. Running on gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 5,250W and a peak wattage of 6,000W. Alternatively, when fueled by propane, it offers 4,750 running watts and 5,500 peak watts.
Featuring a noise rating of 63 dBA (just slightly more noisy than background music), the inverter generator is equipped with both a conventional pull-start mechanism and a user-friendly and efficient electric starter (battery included) for starting. Furthermore, the GM6000iED can be remotely started, providing users with added ease of use (key fob included).
With a fuel capacity of 3.8 gallons, the GM6000iED can operate for around 8.5 hours at 50% load using gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.45 GPH), or for around 7.9 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.59 GPH) using propane.
The GM6000iED ensures a clean sine wave output, boasting <5% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) to protect your sensitive electronics when connected to its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 3 AC outlets:
Additionally, it offers 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) perfect for conveniently charging mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices.
Since it boasts a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the GM6000iED is engineered to be transfer switch ready, ensuring easy integration with your breaker box to provide backup power to your home during outages.
Portability
Thanks to its closed inverter generator design (L24 x W18.5 x H21.1 in), the Genmax GM6000iED not only offers superior aesthetics but also operates with reduced noise levels compared to a typical, open frame generator. The design follows the contemporary trends and is perfect for recreationally generating power.
Though weighing 117.9 lbs, the generator remains classified as 'portable,' indicating its capability to be moved, though its weight could pose transport challenges. Nevertheless, it can still be moved quite conveniently with the help of its set of 2 wheels (⌀5.5") and its telecospic handle, once it is placed on the ground.
Features
Designed with a digital data center, the control panel of the GM6000iED grants you access to crucial data on the frequency, lifetime run hours, voltage, power output and fuel level, ensuring practical monitoring of its status and activity.
In addition to this info, when the generator is ready, the generator is overloaded and the oil level is too low, you will be informed by the featured light indicators.
Considering security aspects, the generator boasts an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, offering peace of mind throughout operation.
It also benefits from Genmax's CO DETECT technology, which is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Alongside the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) for quick setup, the Genmax GM6000iED is bundled with additional accessories: propane hose, funnel, key fob and tool kit.

The Genmax GM6000iED versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Genmax GM6000iED compare to dual fuel generators of similar power (between 4500 and 5500 W).
- Weight-wise, the Genmax GM6000iED has only 117.9 lbs, which renders it one of the lighter dual fuel generators which produce 4500 to 5500 rated watts. If you are concerned by weight, one of the champions in the above-mentioned power range is the WEN DF5600X, with a dry weight of just 113 pounds.
- Since this inverter generator is rated for a lowest possible noise of 63 dBA, it can be considered as one of the more quiet of the products generating similar power. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may want to take a look at the DuroMax XP7000iH. It's one of the quietest options among generators of similar power, rated at 62 dBA.
- Regarding its runtime, the GM6000iED operates for around 8.5 hours at a 50% load, positioning it at the lower spectrum among comparable dual fuel products. Concerning the run times, one of the several devices with a comparable output, offering the highest autonomy, is the WEN DF5600X, which is able to run for around 12.5 hours.
- While run time is vital, it hinges on the fuel capacity. To grasp the full picture, we must also factor in fuel efficiency. This inverter generator is one of the more fuel-efficient models of the aforementioned output range, as its estimated fuel consumption reaches just 0.45 GPH (gallon per hour) at 50% load. If fuel consumption is your top priority, we suggest to check out the WEN DF5600X, which has a fuel consumption of only 0.35 GPH and thus, is one of the most efficient devices in our database.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 4500-5500W inverter generators, the Genmax GM6000iED is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

User Reviews
I’ve done quite a few generator reviews and I am a certified professional mechanic. This generator had several quality control issues right out of the box. There were also several design flaws including very bad engine vibrations at idle, poor wire routings, a load pannel that wasn’t accurate, side pannels that had stripped out hardware. Parts and customer service is non existent. Literally. I honestly would stay far away from this line of generators.
