Over the following sections, you'll uncover its power characteristics, the selection of outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it includes.
Power & Run Time
Featuring a 145 cc (5.2 hp) Dinking OHV 4-stroke engine, the Genmax GM3500Xi operates using gasoline, providing 120V, with a running wattage of 3,200W and a starting wattage of 3,500W. Moreover, the parallel capability (parallel kit not included) enables power output to increase when paired with another similar or compatible unit, providing increased energy capacity and versatility for a wide range of needs.
Rated for 66 dBA (less noisy than a normal conversation), the inverter generator's starting mechanism relies on a conventional pull-start mechanism.
With a full tank, the GM3500Xi can operate for around 8.5 hours at 50% load (fuel consumption around 0.26 GPH), thanks to its fuel capacity of 2.24 gallons.
The GM3500Xi produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <5% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel is equipped with the following 3 AC outlets:
In addition, it provides 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) with which charging of electronics like mobile phones and tablets is made convenient.
Even if this Genmax generator isn't quite RV Ready, it still allows for an easy RV connection via an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor, thanks to its L5-30R receptacle.
Portability
At L18.9 x W13.6 x H17.7 in, the standard open frame design of the Genmax GM3500Xi delivers stability alongside easy maintenance access to components and good air cooling. The design is ideal for rough environments and demanding outdoor use.
With a dry weight of 57.3 lbs, the GM3500Xi is convenient, ensuring it can be taken wherever power is needed. Additionally, the open frame design of the generator ensures easy grabbing and shifting for relocation.
Features
Included in the control panel of the GM3500Xi, a digital data center assists in tracking its status and activity by providing details on the lifetime run hours.
In addition to this info, the device’s light indicators will display if the generator is on overload, the generator is ready and its oil levels are insufficient.
In terms of security, the generator features an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, ensuring peace of mind during its use.
It also benefits from Genmax's CO DETECT technology, which is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Apart from the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to facilitate setup, the Genmax GM3500Xi features extra accessories: tool kit and funnel.

The Genmax GM3500Xi versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Genmax GM3500Xi compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- Considering its weight, the Genmax GM3500Xi registers at a modest 57.3 pounds, placing it among the lighter inverter generators in the 2500 to 3500 rated wattage selection. Regarding dry weight, one of the champions in the same power range is the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, with a dry weight of only 46 lbs.
- This inverter generator, with its lowest noise level at 66 dBA, is noisier than most generators of comparable running wattage. If noise emissions are important to you, one of the least noisy generators of this power range is the Honda EU3000iS with only 50 dBA.
- The GM3500Xi, falls within the average autonomy range compared to inverter generators of a roughly same power, with a run time of around 8.5 hours at a 50% load and a full tank. For those prioritizing autonomy, the Generac iQ3600DF could be considered, as it offers one of the longest run times among generators with similar power output, reaching around 13 hours.
- Run times are important, yet thanks to their dependence on the fuel capacity, they should be judged along with the fuel consumption of the device. At an estimated fuel consumption of 0.26 GPH (gallon per hour) at 50% load, this inverter generator is a rather fuel-efficient one within its wattage category. If you wish to get a unit of similar power, but with one of the best fuel efficiency, you could consider the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, which has an impressively low fuel consumption of 0.22 GPH.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 2500-3500W inverter generators, the Genmax GM3500Xi is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.
The bottom line

User Reviews
This unit would be nice if they used better quality parts, had parts and service available in the USA. It had wiring routing problems, and inverter cover that was pinched where it splits, not easy to get to the spark plug, and carburetor vent hoses that were cut off at the carburetor upon opening. I just can’t recommend this generator.
