Description
Zoom on the Genmax GM15000ET
In summary, the Genmax GM15000ET is a powerful portable generator especially useful for:
- Professionals who want to be able to deliver results, even during a power failure
- Homeowners who want to be sure of their ability to power their fridges, cooking tools, heating and lighting equipment during power failures
In the upcoming sections, you'll discover its power characteristics, the array of outlets it presents, its overall portability, and the additional features it possesses.
Power & Run Time
The Genmax GM15000ET delivers 120/240V and benefits from a tri-fuel technology that allows it to run on gasoline, propane, or natural gas. When gasoline-powered, it enjoys a running wattage of 11,000W and a peak wattage of 15,000W. When propane-powered, it benefits from 10,000 rated watts and 13,000 peak watts. Its natural gas operation offers 8,800W of rated wattage and 12,000W of starting wattage.
At a noise rating of 76 dBA (less noisy than a shower), this generator provides the choice between a conventional pull-start mechanism or an easy-to-use and reliable electric starter (battery included) for starting. For additional convenience, the GM15000ET may also be remotely started (key fob included).
The generator also supports 2-wire start, enabling integration with compatible automatic transfer switches (ATS), solar battery systems, or hybrid inverter setups via a low-voltage contact-closure control circuit.
In terms of run time, the GM15000ET, boasting a 10.5 gallons fuel tank, can run for around 11 hours at 50% load on a full tank of gasoline (with fuel consumption averaging 0.95 gallons per hour). Additionally, it provides around 3.7 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 1.27 GPH) of operation with propane.
The quite high THD (<23%) of the GM15000ET makes it unsuitable for powering sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel features 8 AC outlets as follows:
Moreover, it presents 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle making battery charging a breeze.
Since the GM15000ET bears a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: it is easily connectible to a breaker box and can power your home in case of a power outage.
Portability
At L28 x W31.6 x H28.7 in, the traditional open frame structure of the Genmax GM15000ET ensures stability while facilitating convenient maintenance access to components and promoting air cooling. The generator is designed for outdoor use and demanding environments.
As the generator's weight is 242 pounds, manually moving it or transporting it may be challenging, despite the fact that it is technically considered 'portable' (movable). However, its challenging mobility is solved by its wheel kit and its folding handle, which will ease its displacement, once it is on the floor.
Features
Enhancing monitoring capabilities, the GM15000ET features a digital data center within its control panel, furnishing essential details on the lifetime run hours, voltage, frequency and power output for tracking activity and status. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.
In addition to this info, the device's light indicator will illuminate to indicate if the oil level is too low.
Featuring a built-in fuel gauge, the generator offers quick, convenient, and easy gas level checks at a glance.
As for its security measures, the device features an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, letting you use it with a peace of mind.
It also benefits from Genmax's CO DETECT technology, which is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
In addition to the traditional documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to help you get started promptly, the Genmax GM15000ET also includes several accessories: tool kit, funnel, oil, battery charger, neutral bonding plug, cover, key fob, natural gas hose with NPT adapter and propane hose.

The Genmax GM15000ET versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Genmax GM15000ET compare to multi-fuel generators of similar power (between 10000 and 14000 W).
- Regarding weight, the Genmax GM15000ET comes in at only 242 pounds, positioning itself as one of the lighter options among multi-fuel generators spanning from 10000 to 14000 in rated wattage. If you are mindful of weight, the Genmax GM12000XiT is among the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 194 pounds.
- This generator has a somewhat average expected noise for its type and power range, rated at 76 dBA. If you are concerned with noise, check out the Genmax GM13500iETC, which is one of the least noisy generators in its power range, with a noise rating of just 62 dBA.
- At 50% load, the GM15000ET boasts a higher run time than most similarly powerful multi-fuel products, reaching around 11 hours. For those prioritizing autonomy, the DuroStar DS14000iX could be considered, as it offers one of the longest run times among generators with similar power output, reaching around 12.5 hours.
- Even though run times are undoubtedly important, they are dependent on the fuel capacity to a large extent. For a more wholesome picture, we must take into consideration the fuel consumption of the generator. As this generator uses an estimated 0.95 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 50% load, it finds itself in the average gasoline consumption range of similar products. If you wish to get a unit of similar power, but with one of the best fuel efficiency, you could consider the WEN TF1450X, which has an impressively low fuel consumption of 0.68 GPH.
