Description
Zoom on the Genmax GM10500iETC
To sum up, the Genmax GM10500iETC is a powerful portable inverter generator tailored for homeowners who want to be able to use the most necessary devices in their household, even during a blackout..
Over the following sections, you'll uncover its power characteristics, the selection of outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it includes.
Power & Run Time
The Genmax GM10500iETC delivers 120/240V and features a tri-fuel technology, granting it the capability to utilize gasoline, propane, or natural gas. When utilizing gasoline, it achieves a running wattage of 8,500W and a peak wattage of 10,500W. Upon switching to propane, it benefits from 8,000 rated watts and 9,500 peak watts. Transitioning to natural gas operation provides 6,800W of rated wattage and 8,400W of starting wattage. In addition, the parallel capability (GM9000PK parallel kit (opens in a new tab) not included) empowers increasing of power output when linked to another similar or compatible unit, ensuring expanded energy capacity and reliability for various applications.
With a noise rating of 64 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a normal conversation), the inverter generator features a simple traditional pull-start mechanism, but also an intuitive and practical electric starter (battery included). Moreover, to offer you even more convenience, the GM10500iETC can also be remotely started (key fob included).
The running time of the GM10500iETC, with its 6.9 gallons fuel capacity, can reach up to 14 hours on a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.49 GPH). With propane, it can reach up to 7 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.67 GPH).
Featuring a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), the GM10500iETC delivers a clean sine wave, guaranteeing the safety of your sensitive electronics plugged into its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel is equipped with the following 6 AC outlets:
Furthermore, it showcases 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle enabling simple battery charging for added ease.
As it features a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the GM10500iETC is transfer switch ready: in case of a power outage, you will be easily able to connect it to a breaker box and power your household. The unit also features an ATS plug, which makes it compatible with automatic transfer switches.
Portability
With an inverter generator design, the Genmax GM10500iETC features a closed construction (L30.9 x W22.6 x H29.3 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring reduced noise levels, offering a distinct advantage over standard, open frame generators. The featured design follows the latest trends and is ideal for easy and recreational use.
Though weighing 244.7 lbs, the generator remains classified as 'portable,' indicating its capability to be moved, though its weight could pose transport challenges. Still, once it is on the ground, its set of 2 wheels and its folding handle can easily solve the issue of low mobility and allow for easy relocation of the device.
Features
With a digital data center integrated into its control panel, the GM10500iETC provides real-time insights into the power output, voltage, frequency and lifetime run hours, enabling easy monitoring of its status and activity. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.
In addition to this info, light indicators on the device will signal if the oil level is too low, the generator is ready and the generator is overloaded.
The fuel level of the inverter generator can be determined quickly, easily, and conveniently with the help of its built-in fuel gauge.
Security-wise, this product benefits from an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), which gives you a complete peace of mind when using it.
It also benefits from Genmax's CO DETECT technology, which is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Along the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), useful for starting the generator right away, the Genmax GM10500iETC's package also includes these accessories: propane hose, key fob, cover, RV adapter, funnel, natural gas hose with NPT adapter, battery charger, tool kit and neutral bonding plug.

The Genmax GM10500iETC versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Genmax GM10500iETC compare to multi-fuel generators of similar power (between 8000 and 9000 W).
- With a weight of 244.7 lbs, the Genmax GM10500iETC is notably on the heavier side among multi-fuel generators in the 8000-9000 rated wattage range. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Pulsar PGL9000BCO with only 149 pounds.
- At just 64 dBA rated noise level, this inverter generator is positioned as one of the quieter choices among devices delivering similar type and power. If you’d prefer a less noisy device, one of the most quiet devices, which share the same power range with this one, is the DuroMax XP11000iHT, whose lowest noise levels reach just 61 dBA.
- In terms of its autonomy, the GM10500iETC can operate for up to 14 hours at a 25% load, placing it within the lower bracket among generators of similar type and power range. Furthermore, considering the run times, one of the generators which have a roughly same power output, with the highest autonomy, is the DuroMax XP10000EH, as it provides up to 22 hours.
- Run time is a key metric, but it's dependent on the generator's fuel tank capacity. Therefore, discussing fuel efficiency is necessary for a complete understanding. Among generators of similar output, this inverter generator ranks somewhat poorly in fuel efficiency, with an estimated consumption of 0.49 GPH at a 25% load. If you wish to acquire one of the most gasoline efficient products of this power range, the DuroMax XP10000EH, with a fuel consumption of 0.38 GPH could be in your good books.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 8000-9000W multi-fuel generators, the Genmax GM10500iETC is on the expensive side of the price range.
While certainly not the cheapest of its kind, purchasing it would most likely also mean enjoying the reliability of a high-end product.

User Reviews
Purchased on January 6th, 2025 and it has already failed (May 21st, 2026). Conveniently just after the 1 year warranty is out. L2 on both the 30A and 50A plugs have failed.
Updated – tried to get tech support so that I could repair it. That was a bust as they insist that it is functioning correctly even thought it’s outputting 0 volts between L1 and L2, 120 volts L2 and N, and 0 volts L1 and N. When I asked for a technician they ghosted me from that point.
Poor quality product with poor tech support.
