Power & Run Time
Thanks to its dual-fuel technology, the Generac iQ5200DF provides a 120V output and offers both versatility and power. When utilizing gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 3,900W and a starting wattage of 5,200W. Alternatively, when operating on propane, it provides 3,500 running watts and 4,700 starting watts. In addition, as it is parallel capable (parallel kit (opens in a new tab) not included), this power can be increased when linked to another similar or compatible unit.
Equipped with a standard recoil pull-rope starting mechanism and an intuitive and practical electric starter (battery included), this inverter generator provides versatile starting capabilities.
The running time of the iQ5200DF, with its 3.2 gallons fuel capacity, can reach up to 15 hours on a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.21 GPH). With propane, it can reach up to 20 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.24 GPH).
The iQ5200DF ensures a clean sine wave output, boasting <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) to protect your sensitive electronics when connected to its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the following 5 AC outlets:
Moreover, it boasts 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (1 x USB-A and 1 x USB-C) allowing you to conveniently charge electronics such as mobile phones and tablets.
While not classified as 'RV Ready,' this Generac generator can still provides the advantage of RV connection via its L5-30R receptacle, ensuring power supply to your RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor.
Portability
As the Generac iQ5200DF is an inverter generator, its encased design (L24.6 x W20.3 x H22.5 in) offers more aesthetics than a conventional, open frame product. This type of design is the most modern and convenient way to recreationally generate power.
As the iQ5200DF's weight is only 107 lbs, it can follow you and your power needs anywhere. Additionally, it can be easily moved with the help of its set of 2 wheels and its folding handle, once it is on the ground.
Features
Enhancing monitoring capabilities, the iQ5200DF features a digital data center within its control panel, furnishing essential details on the power output and lifetime run hours for tracking activity and status.
Regarding security, the generator comes with an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, providing peace of mind during operation.
The iQ5200DF also benefits from Generac’s COsense® carbon monoxide monitoring. This technology senses and manages CO output and shuts down the unit when necessary, to protect you from CO poisoning.
With the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), letting you start the generator quickly, the Generac iQ5200DF also comes with several accessories, including: funnel, oil, propane hose and tool kit.
The Generac iQ5200DF versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Generac iQ5200DF compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 3500 and 4500 W).
- At 107 lbs in dry weight, the Generac iQ5200DF fits well within the typical weight bracket for inverter generators producing 3500 to 4500 rated watts. If you are mindful of weight, the WEN 56432iX is among the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 52.9 pounds.
- The iQ5200DF provides up to 15 hours of runtime at a 25% load on a full tank, placing it within the average autonomy range among similar inverter generators. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the Champion 200977, reaching up to 22 hours.
- Even though run times are undoubtedly important, they are dependent on the fuel capacity to a large extent. For a more wholesome picture, we must take into consideration the fuel consumption of the generator. This inverter generator has an estimated fuel consumption of roughly 0.21 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 25% load, rendering it somewhat average compared to devices of a similar output. If you wish to get a unit of similar power, but with one of the best fuel efficiency, you could consider the Champion 201319, which has an impressively low fuel consumption of 0.16 GPH.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3500-4500W dual fuel inverter generators, the Generac iQ5200DF is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
