Description

Plenty of power is just one advantage of this heavy-duty generator engineered for high performance using the Generac OHVI engine. Most compact, User Friendly Power Generator. Easy to move, and one of the most powerful portable units on the market.

Zoom on the Generac XG10000E

In a nutshell, the Generac XG10000E is a powerful portable generator mostly geared towards professionals who want to ensure that a power failure will not prevent them from working.

The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, the extra features it benefits from, and any relevant emission compliance details.

Power & Run Time

The Generac XG10000E in use

The Generac XG10000E

The Generac XG10000E is powered by a 530 cc Generac OHVI 4-stroke engine. It delivers 120/240V, runs on gasoline and offers a running wattage of 10000W as well as a peak wattage of 12500W.

This generator features a convenient and easy-to-use electric starter (battery included).

With a fuel capacity of 10 gallons, the XG10000E may run for around 10 hours at 50% load with a full tank (fuel consumption around 1 GPH).

The XG10000E produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <5% Total Harmonic Disruption (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.

Outlets

The control panel features the upcoming 7 AC outlets:

Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle
120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle

Even though this Generac generator isn't quite RV Ready, its L5-30R receptacle allows an easy RV connection via an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, as the XG10000E holds a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: you'll easily be able to connect it to your breaker box to power your home during a power outage.

Portability

The Generac XG10000E has the following dimensions: L31.2 x W29.5 x H31.3 in. In combination with its conventional, open frame design, they provide support and allow the generator to be raised above ground level. The design is ideal for rough environments and demanding outdoor use.

Even though this device may be technically portable (as in movable), manipulation and transportation without special equipment can be a challenge, as it weighs 300 pounds. However, its challenging mobility is solved by its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle, which will ease its displacement, once it is on the floor.

Features

The XG10000E's control panel

To help you monitor the XG10000E's status and activity, its control panel is equipped with a digital data center, giving you information on the lifetime run hours and power output (via the PowerBar™). To offer you even more control and easy operation during night time, the panel is LED-lit.

Thanks to a built-in fuel gauge, the generator allows you to quickly, conveniently and easily check the gas level at a glance.

From a security point of view, the generator is equipped with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), giving you a peace of mind during use.

While the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), helpful for starting the device promptly, come with the Generac XG10000E, the following accessories are also included: oil and tool kit.

Emissions

The Generac XG10000E is EPA approved, but NOT CARB-compliant. Thus, it cannot be purchased or sold in California.

However, it features a spark arrestor, making it usable in forested areas.

The Generac XG10000E versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Generac XG10000E compare to generators of similar power (between 9500 and 10500 W).

  • A weight of 300 lbs makes the Generac XG10000E one of the heavier devices in the 9500-10500 rated wattage range. In terms of weight, one of the champions in their power range is the Rainier R12000DF, standing at just 196 lbs.
  • Offering around 10 hours of running time on a full tank at 50% load, the XG10000E is within the average autonomy range of similarly powerful generators. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the Powerhorse 13000ES, reaching around 15 hours.
  • The run time is important, but also hugely depends on the capacity of the fuel tank and doesn't mean much if we don't talk about fuel consumption as well. This generator is not fuel efficient compared to devices of similar output: its estimated fuel consumption stands at 1 GPH at a 50% load. If fuel consumption is your top priority, we suggest to check out the Westinghouse WGen9500DF, which has a fuel consumption of only 0.55 GPH and thus, is one of the most efficient devices in our database.
According to our stats, the following comparison is pretty popular: Generac XG10000E vs DuroMax XP10000E.

Price comparison

As you can see from this interactive chart, when compared to other 9500-10500W generators, the Generac XG10000E is on the expensive side of the price range.

While certainly not the cheapest of its kind, purchasing it would most likely also mean enjoying the reliability of a high-end product.
