Description

Plenty of power is just one advantage of this heavy-duty generator engineered for high performance using the Generac OHVI engine. Most compact, User Friendly Power Generator. Easy to move, and one of the most powerful portable units on the market.

Zoom on the Generac XG10000E

In a nutshell, the Generac XG10000E is a powerful portable generator mostly geared towards professionals in need of safely powering high-intensity work or lighting equipment.

In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability, and any additional features of the device, along with its emission compliance information.

Power & Run Time

The Generac XG10000E in use

The Generac XG10000E

The Generac XG10000E houses a 530 cc (18 hp) Generac OHVI 4-stroke engine, which provides 120/240V, consumes gasoline and delivers a running wattage of 10,000W along with a peak wattage of 12,500W.

This generator gets running thanks to a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included).

With a fuel capacity of 10 gallons, the XG10000E may run for around 10 hours at 50% load with a full tank (fuel consumption around 1 GPH).

The XG10000E generates a clean sine wave: providing <5% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), delicate electronics can be plugged in its AC outlets safely.

Outlets

The control panel features the upcoming 7 AC outlets:

Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle
120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle

This Generac generator isn't quite RV Ready, but it features an L5-30R receptacle, allowing a simple RV connection through an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, as it features a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the XG10000E is transfer switch ready: in case of a power outage, you will be easily able to connect it to a breaker box and power your household.

Portability

The dimensions of the Generac XG10000E, which are L31.2 x W29.5 x H31.3 in, and its typical, open frame design provides stability and enables the generator to be raised above ground level. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.

While the generator is considered to be technically 'portable' (in the sense that you can move it), manually lifting and transporting it may be challenging, due to its high weight of 300 lbs. However, its challenging mobility is solved by its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle, which will ease its displacement, once it is on the floor.

Features

Panel of the Generac XG10000E

The XG10000E's control panel

One of the many XG10000E's features is the data center, included in its control panel, which conveniently provides information on the lifetime run hours and power output (via the PowerBar™) and thus, helps you monitor its activity and status. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.

A built-in fuel gauge allows for a quick, easy and convenient check of the fuel level of the generator.

Security-wise, this product benefits from an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), which gives you a complete peace of mind when using it.

With the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), letting you start the generator quickly, the Generac XG10000E also comes with several accessories, including: tool kit and oil.

Emissions

The Generac XG10000E is EPA approved, but NOT CARB-compliant. Thus, it cannot be purchased or sold in California.

However, it features a spark arrestor, so it is adequate for use in forested areas.

The Generac XG10000E versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Generac XG10000E compare to generators of similar power (between 9500 and 10500 W).

  • A weight of 300 lbs makes the Generac XG10000E one of the heavier devices in the 9500-10500 rated wattage range. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Rainier R12000DF with only 196 pounds.
  • The XG10000E, falls within the average autonomy range compared to generators of a roughly same power, with a run time of around 10 hours at a 50% load and a full tank. If concerned with autonomy, one of the products of a comparable power output, which offers the highest run time, is the Powerhorse 13000ES, boasting with around 15 hours.
  • Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. Compared to its peers, this generator is not exactly fuel efficient, compared to similarly powerful devices, with an estimated fuel consumption of 1 GPH at a 50% load. If you wish to acquire one of the most gasoline efficient products of this power range, the Westinghouse WGen9500DF, with a fuel consumption of 0.55 GPH could be in your good books.
According to our stats, the following comparison is pretty popular: Generac XG10000E vs DuroMax XP10000E.
