Description

Plenty of power is just one advantage of this heavy-duty generator engineered for high performance using the Generac OHVI engine. Most compact, User Friendly Power Generator. Easy to move, and one of the most powerful portable units on the market.

Zoom on the Generac XG10000E

In a nutshell, the Generac XG10000E is a powerful portable generator mostly geared towards professionals who want to be able to deliver results, even during a power failure.

The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, the extra features it benefits from, and any relevant emission compliance details.

Power & Run Time

The Generac XG10000E in use

The Generac XG10000E

The Generac XG10000E's design includes a gasoline-fueled 530 cc (18 hp) Generac OHVI 4-stroke engine. With a 120/240V output, it gives a running wattage of 10,000W and also a peak wattage of 12,500W.

This generator is started via a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included).

Thanks to a fuel capacity of 10 gallons, the XG10000E can operate for around 10 hours at 50% load with a full tank (fuel consumption around 1 GPH).

As the XG10000E produces a clean sine wave, with a <5% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), sensitive electronics may be plugged in the AC outlets safely.

Outlets

The control panel provides the upcoming 7 AC outlets:

Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle
120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle

Even though this Generac generator isn't quite RV Ready, its L5-30R receptacle allows an easy RV connection via an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, as the XG10000E holds a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: you'll easily be able to connect it to your breaker box to power your home during a power outage.

Portability

The Generac XG10000E has the following dimensions: L31.2 x W29.5 x H31.3 in. In combination with its conventional, open frame design, they provide support and allow the generator to be raised above ground level. The design is ideal for rough environments and demanding outdoor use.

While the generator is considered to be technically 'portable' (in the sense that you can move it), manually lifting and transporting it may be challenging, due to its high weight of 300 lbs. However, this lack of maneuverability is compensated by its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle, with which you can conveniently shift it, once it's on the ground.

Features

The XG10000E's control panel

One of the many XG10000E's features is the data center, included in its control panel, which conveniently provides information on the lifetime run hours and power output (via the PowerBar™) and thus, helps you monitor its activity and status. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.

Thanks to a built-in fuel gauge, the generator allows you to quickly, conveniently and easily check the gas level at a glance.

As far as security is concerned, the generator can be used with a peace of mind, as it features an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off.

While the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), helpful for starting the device promptly, come with the Generac XG10000E, the following accessories are also included: oil and tool kit.

Emissions

The Generac XG10000E is EPA approved, but NOT CARB-compliant. Thus, it cannot be purchased or sold in California.

However, it features a spark arrestor, making it usable in forested areas.

The Generac XG10000E versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Generac XG10000E compare to generators of similar power (between 9500 and 10500 W).

  • With its weight of 300 lbs, the Generac XG10000E is one of the heavier generators in the 9500-10500 rated wattage category. If weight is your top priority, one of the champions in this power category is the Rainier R12000DF, weighing just 196 pounds.
  • As the XG10000E offers around 10 hours run time on a full tank at a 50% load, it falls within the average autonomy range among the generators of a similar power. Furthermore, considering the run times, one of the generators which have a roughly same power output, with the highest autonomy, is the Powerhorse 13000ES, as it provides around 15 hours.
  • Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. Compared to its peers, this generator is not exactly fuel efficient, compared to similarly powerful devices, with an estimated fuel consumption of 1 GPH at a 50% load. If you wish to acquire one of the most gasoline efficient products of this power range, the Rainier R12000DF, with a fuel consumption of 0.55 GPH could be in your good books.
According to our stats, the following comparison is pretty popular: Generac XG10000E vs DuroMax XP10000E.
