Zoom on the Generac XG10000E

To sum up, the Generac XG10000E is a powerful portable generator tailored for professionals who want to ensure that a power failure will not prevent them from working..

Over the following sections, you'll uncover its power characteristics, the selection of outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it includes.

Power & Run Time

The Generac XG10000E in use

The Generac XG10000E

Running on gasoline, the Generac XG10000E operates with a 530 cc (18 hp) Generac OHVI 4-stroke engine, delivering 120/240V, with a running wattage of 10,000W and a peak wattage of 12,500W.

This generator is equipped with a convenient and easy-to-use electric starter (battery included).

The XG10000E's fuel tank, boasting 10 gallons, allows it to operate for around 10 hours at 50% load with a full tank (with an estimated fuel consumption of 1 GPH).

Sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets, as the XG10000E produces a clean sine wave, with a <5% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD).

Outlets

The control panel is equipped with the following 7 AC outlets:

Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle
120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle

While not classified as 'RV Ready,' this Generac generator can still provides the advantage of RV connection via its L5-30R receptacle, ensuring power supply to your RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, because the XG10000E is equipped with a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: it can power your home during a power outage, as it can be easily connected to your breaker box to power your household.

Portability

Measuring L31.2 x W29.5 x H31.3 in, the classic open frame construction of the Generac XG10000E provides stability while enabling convenient maintenance access to components and adequate air cooling. The generator is designed for outdoor use and demanding environments.

As the generator's weight is 300 pounds, manually moving it or transporting it may be challenging, despite the fact that it is technically considered 'portable' (movable). Nevertheless, the restricted maneuverability is counteracted by its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle, enabling easy shifting once the generator is set in place.

Features

The XG10000E's control panel

For easy status and activity monitoring of the XG10000E, its control panel integrates a digital data center, offering insights into the power output (via the PowerBar™) and lifetime run hours. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.

Benefiting from its built-in fuel gauge, the generator allows for easy and immediate gas level inspections.

Regarding security, the generator comes with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during operation.

Alongside the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) for quick setup, the Generac XG10000E is bundled with additional accessories: oil and tool kit.

The Generac XG10000E versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Generac XG10000E compare to generators of similar power (between 9500 and 10500 W).

  • A weight of 300 lbs makes the Generac XG10000E one of the heavier devices in the 9500-10500 rated wattage range. Regarding dry weight, one of the champions in the same power range is the Genmax GM12000XiT, with a dry weight of only 194 lbs.
  • Offering around 10 hours of running time on a full tank at 50% load, the XG10000E is within the average autonomy range of similarly powerful generators. If you wish to prioritize autonomy, the Powerhorse 13000ES shines as one of the top contenders, offering one of the highest run times among generators with similar power output, totaling around 15 hours.
  • The run time is important, but also hugely depends on the capacity of the fuel tank and doesn't mean much if we don't talk about fuel consumption as well. In fact, this generator is not one of the most fuel-efficient options in the aforementioned wattage range: its estimated gasoline consumption at 50% load is around 1 GPH. If minimizing fuel usage is one of your key priorities, the Westinghouse WGen9500DFc EFI is one of the most efficient devices with similar power output, with a gasoline consumption of only 0.66 gallons per hour.
According to our stats, the following comparison is pretty popular: Generac XG10000E vs DuroMax XP10000E.
