Description
Zoom on the Firman T08072
In summary, the Firman T08072 is a portable generator especially useful for:
- Food truck owners who do not wish to see their business interrupted under any circumstances
- Homeowners who want to be sure of their ability to power their fridges, cooking tools, heating and lighting equipment during power failures
- Professionals who want to ensure that a power failure will not prevent them from working
- RV travellers looking for even more independence
In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability, and any additional features of the device.
Power & Run Time
The Firman T08072 delivers 120/240V and is equipped with a tri-fuel technology, enabling it to operate on gasoline, propane, or natural gas. When powered by gasoline, it achieves a running wattage of 8,000W and a peak wattage of 10,000W. Switching to propane provides 7,250 rated watts and 9,050 peak watts, while natural gas operation delivers 5,500W of rated wattage and 6,900W of starting wattage.
At a noise rating of 74 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a dishwasher), this generator provides the choice between a standard recoil pull-rope starting mechanism or a user-friendly and hassle-free electric starter (battery included) for starting.
Regarding its running time, the T08072, with a 8 gallons fuel tank, can operate for around 12 hours at 50% load with a full gasoline tank (with fuel consumption estimated at around 0.67 gallons per hour). It also offers around 5 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.94 GPH) of operation when using propane.
Since the T08072 has a somewhat high THD (<14%), it is advisable to not use it for the powering of sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel is equipped with the following 5 AC outlets:
If you own an RV with a 50-amp service, you can consider this Firman unit as RV-ready, as it features a 14-50R outlet. Its L5-30R receptacle can also be used for a simple RV connection with an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. In addition, as the T08072 holds a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: you'll easily be able to connect it to your breaker box to power your home during a power outage.
Portability
With its L29.8 x W27.5 x H26.1 in dimensions, the open frame structure of the Firman T08072 guarantees stability, simplified maintenance access to components, and better air cooling than enclosed units. The design is ideal for rough environments and demanding outdoor use.
While weighing 213 lbs, the generator is classified as 'portable,' indicating its mobility, albeit its heftiness may limit portability in specific situations. Nonetheless, the limited maneuverability is compensated for by utilizing its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle, which facilitates shifting once the generator is set on the ground.
Features
The control panel of the T08072 includes a convenient meter, providing voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours data, helpful for the monitoring of its status and activity.
In addition to this info, a light indicator serves to show you when the generator is ready.
Featuring a built-in fuel gauge, the generator offers quick, convenient, and easy gas level checks at a glance.
As far as security is concerned, the generator comes with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during use.
The T08072 also benefits from Firman’s CO Alert carbon monoxide shutdown, which automatically shuts down the engine when harmful levels of carbon monoxide accumulate around the generator or a CO Alert fault occurs.
Beyond the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to assist with setup, the Firman T08072 ships with supplementary accessories: tool kit, oil, propane hose, natural gas hose with NPT adapter and funnel.

The Firman T08072 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Firman T08072 compare to multi-fuel generators of similar power (between 7500 and 8500 W).
- At 213 lbs dry, the Firman T08072 is consistent with the standard weight profile for multi-fuel devices ranging from 7500 to 8500 rated watts. If weight is an important consideration for you, the Pulsar PGL9000BCO stands out as one of the top contenders in this power category, with a dry weight of 149 pounds.
- When compared to other units producing a similar running wattage, this generator and its lowest emitted noise of 74 dBA stand out for being on the louder side. If noise level is one your key decisive factors, you may find the DuroMax XP9500iH appealing. It's rated at 61 dBA, making it one of the quietest generators in its power range.
- At 50% load, the T08072 achieves one of the longer run times compared to multi-fuel devices of similar power, sustaining operations for around 12 hours. If run time is one of your main concerns, the Champion 100416 could be worth looking at. It boasts one of the highest run times among units of comparable power, lasting around 12.5 hours.
- Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. This generator is one of the more fuel-efficient models of the aforementioned output range, as its estimated fuel consumption reaches just 0.67 GPH (gallon per hour) at 50% load. If fuel consumption is your top priority, we suggest to check out the Cummins Onan P9500df, which has a fuel consumption of only 0.6 GPH and thus, is one of the most efficient devices in our database.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 7500-8500W multi-fuel generators, the Firman T08072 is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
