Description

The FIRMAN P08007 lives within our largest class of performance generators. With a whopping 10000 watts and 50A of power, the P08007 will do anything you need. Our Max Pro Series 439cc engine runs cool and efficient thanks to the Phoenix Fat Head Block. Running at 74 dB, this generator is remote/electric start and Canada emissions certified. With an 8gal fuel tank, this beast will run for 12hrs and has a remote starting distance of up to 168ft. (source: Firman (opens in a new tab))

Zoom on the Firman P08007

In a nutshell, the Firman P08007 is a portable generator mostly geared towards food truck owners who do not wish to see their business interrupted under any circumstances.

The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, the extra features it benefits from, and any relevant emission compliance details.

Power & Run Time

The Firman P08007 in use

The Firman P08007

The Firman P08007 houses a 439 cc Firman Max-Pro Series OHV 4-stroke engine, which provides 120/240V, consumes gasoline and delivers a running wattage of 8000W along with a peak wattage of 10000W.

At a noise rating of 74 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a vacuum cleaner), this generator can be started via a conventional pull-start mechanism, or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). To add further convenience, the P08007 can be remotely started (key fob included).

With a full tank, the P08007 can operate for around 12 hours at 50% load (fuel consumption around 0.67 GPH), thanks to its fuel capacity of 8 gallons.

Outlets

The control panel features the upcoming 5 AC outlets:

Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R)
120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle
120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle

This Firman generator features an L5-30R receptacle, enabling an easy RV connection via an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. However, it is still not quite RV ready. Besides, as the P08007 holds a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: you'll easily be able to connect it to your breaker box to power your home during a power outage.

Portability

The Firman P08007 has the following dimensions: L28.4 x W27.9 x H26.8 in. In combination with its conventional, open frame design, they provide support and allow the generator to be raised above ground level. The device has been designed for tough environments and demanding outdoor use.

While the generator is considered to be technically 'portable' (in the sense that you can move it), manually lifting and transporting it may be challenging, due to its high weight of 210.3 lbs. Still, once it is on the ground, its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle can easily solve the issue of low mobility and allow for easy relocation of the device.

Features

The P08007's control panel

One of the many P08007's features is the data center, included in its control panel, which conveniently provides information on the lifetime run hours and voltage and thus, helps you monitor its activity and status.

In addition to this info, a light indicator serves to show you when its oil levels are insufficient.

The generator allows for a quick, easy and convenient assessment of its gas level, as it is equipped with a built-in fuel gauge.

As far as security is concerned, the generator can be used with a peace of mind, as it features an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker).

While the standard documentation and an owner's manual, helpful for starting the device promptly, come with the Firman P08007, the following accessories are also included: tool kit, funnel, oil, key fob and cover.

Emissions

The Firman P08007 is EPA approved, but NOT CARB-compliant. Thus, it cannot be purchased or sold in California.

However, it features a spark arrestor, making it usable in forested areas.

The Firman P08007 versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Firman P08007 compare to generators of similar power (between 7500 and 8500 W).

  • Having a dry weight of 210.3 lbs, the Firman P08007 belongs in the expected weight range for generators which produce 7500 to 8500 rated watts. Regarding dry weight, one of the champions in the same power range is the Lifan LF8750iEPL, with a dry weight of only 185 lbs.
  • Since the generator's noise is rated at 74 dBA, it has the roughly average expected noise for a device of similar power. If noise emissions are important to you, one of the least noisy generators of this power range is the Powermate DF7500E with only 68 dBA.
  • As the P08007 features an autonomy of around 12 hours at 50% load, it has one of the highest run times in comparison to the other generators of its power range.
  • Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. This generator can be considered as fuel efficient, due to its low estimated fuel consumption of only 0.67 GPH (gallon per hour) at 50% load, within the aforementioned wattage range. If you wish to further improve in the area of fuel efficiency, the Pulsar PG10000B16, which boasts with a gas consumption of only 0.55 GPH, may be the right generator for you.

The bottom line

STRENGTHS:
  • Several accessories included
  • Remote start
  • High run time
  • Fuel efficient
AVERAGE SPECS:
  • Decent weight (210.3 lbs)
  • Acceptable noise (74 dBA)
