Description
Zoom on the Firman P03613
In a nutshell, the Firman P03613 is a portable generator mostly geared towards:
- RV travellers who wish to upgrade their experience to another level
- People occasionally participating in outdoor fairs, festivals or events
- Homeowners who want to be sure of their ability to power their fridges, cooking tools, heating and lighting equipment during power failures
In the sections ahead, the power characteristics, availability of various outlets, the portability, and any additional features of the device shall be discussed.
Power & Run Time
Featuring a 208 cc Firman Max-Pro Series OHV 4-stroke engine with cast iron sleeve, the Firman P03613 operates using gasoline, providing 120V, with a running wattage of 3,650W and a starting wattage of 4,550W.
At a noise rating of 67 dBA (less noisy than background music), the generator is started via a manual recoil starter system.
With its 5 gallons fuel tank, the P03613 can operate for around 14 hours at 50% load when fully fueled (with fuel usage averaging around 0.36 GPH).
The quite high THD (<25%) of the P03613 makes it unsuitable for powering sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel features 4 AC outlets as follows:
With its TT-30R receptacle (TT standing for 'Travel Trailer'), this Firman generator is RV Ready, perfectly suited for powering recreational vehicles.
Portability
At L24.8 x W21.7 x H21.7 in, the Firman P03613 boasts a traditional open frame structure, ensuring stability and allowing for convenient maintenance access to components, promoting air circulation. The device has been designed for tough environments and demanding outdoor use.
With a dry weight of 108.5 lbs, the P03613 can easily follow you wherever your power needs are. Furthermore, thanks to its wheel kit (⌀8") and its folding handle, shifting the generator once it's placed is a breeze.
Features
To help you monitor the P03613's status and activity, its control panel is equipped with a convenient meter showing you voltage, frequency and lifetime hours.
In addition to this info, a light indicator allows you to instantly see if its oil levels are insufficient.
With its built-in fuel gauge, the generator provides quick and convenient gas level checks.
Regarding security, the generator comes with an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, providing peace of mind during operation.
The P03613 also benefits from Firman’s CO Alert carbon monoxide shutdown, which automatically shuts down the engine when harmful levels of carbon monoxide accumulate around the generator or a CO Alert fault occurs.
Beyond the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to assist with setup, the Firman P03613 ships with supplementary accessories: oil, funnel and tool kit.

The Firman P03613 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Firman P03613 compare to generators of similar power (between 3500 and 4500 W).
- As its weight is 108.5 pounds, the Firman P03613 falls in the expected weight range of the devices in the 3500-4500 rated wattage category. If weight is a key factor for your needs, the WEN 56432iX is noteworthy for being one of the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 52.9 pounds.
- With noise emissions rated as low as 67 dBA, this generator falls within the typical noise range expected for devices of similar power. If you wish to prioritize minimal noise, the Westinghouse iGen5000DF stands out as one of the quietest options among generators of similar power, with a rating of 52 dBA.
- Compared to devices of similar power, the P03613 stands out with one of the higher run times, lasting around 14 hours at 50% load. If runtime is a priority for you, the Firman W03663OF stands out as one of the generators with the longest run time in its power range, providing around 18 hours of continuous use.
- While the run time is an important parameter, it is dependent on the fuel tank's capacity and thus, doesn't say much on its own unless we consider fuel consumption as well. This generator has an estimated fuel consumption of roughly 0.36 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 50% load, rendering it somewhat average compared to devices of a similar output. If gasoline efficiency is at the top of your list, you may want to have a look at the Westinghouse iGen5000DF, which has great fuel efficiency, with a gas consumption of only 0.23 gallons per hour.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3500-4500W generators, the Firman P03613 is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.
The bottom line
- Inexpensive
- CO Alert technology
- RV Ready
- High run time
- Decent weight (108.5 lbs)
- Acceptable noise (67 dBA)
- Decent fuel efficiency
- No electric start

What should the spark plug gap be set to (Asked May 01, 2021)
Electrode gap should be 0.028” to 0.031”.
Can this generator plug a washing machine ? (Asked May 16, 2021)
There should be no problem powering a standard residential washing machine with this unit.
I recently had a backup Power Transfer Meter installed at my home. It states in the manual: "must have access to a 30A, 120V/240V with a standard National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) L14-30P plug portable generator with overcurrent protection." Not sure if my Firman 3650 meets these standards, as the plug that attaches to the meter is a 4-prong and the generator only has a 3-prong outlet for an RV? do i need a new geneator or just an adapter for the power cord to attach to the outlet on this generator? (Asked September 26, 2025)
The generator does not provide 240V.
