Description
Zoom on the Firman H08051
In summary, the Firman H08051 is a portable generator especially useful for:
- Food van owners who know that just a short power outage could lose them hundreds of dollars
- Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
- Professionals who want to be able to deliver results, even during a power failure
- RV travellers wishing to enhance their freedom and nomad lifestyle
In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
Featuring dual-fuel technology, the Firman H08051 provides 120/240V, and offers both power and versatility. Running on gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 8,000W and a starting wattage of 10,000W. When propane-powered, it offers 7,250 running watts and 9,050 starting watts.
With a noise rating of 74 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a dishwasher), the generator features a manual recoil starter system, but also a hassle-free and practical electric starter (battery included).
Concerning its running time, the H08051, featuring a 8 gallons fuel tank, can continuously run for around 12 hours at 50% load with a full gasoline tank (consuming fuel at approximately 0.67 gallons per hour). Alternatively, when utilizing propane, it offers around 5 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.94 GPH) of runtime.
The powering of sensitive electronic devices with the H08051 is not recommended due to its high THD (<25%).
Outlets
The control panel includes the following 5 AC outlets:
If you own an RV with a 50-amp service, you can consider this Firman unit as RV-ready, as it features a 14-50R outlet. Its L5-30R receptacle can also be used for a simple RV connection with an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. In addition, since the H08051 bears a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: it is easily connectible to a breaker box and can power your home in case of a power outage.
Portability
With a size of L30.2 x W27.5 x H26.3 in, the Firman H08051 features an open frame design, providing stability and simplified maintenance access to components, enhancing air circulation. The design is ideal for rough environments and demanding outdoor use.
Despite its weight of 212 lbs, the generator is still considered 'portable,' meaning it is movable, although its heftiness may restrict portability in certain environments or require additional considerations for transportation and setup. Still, once it is on the ground, its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle can easily solve the issue of low mobility and allow for easy relocation of the device.
Features
For convenient monitoring of its status and activity, the control panel of the H08051 includes a convenient meter, which displays voltage, frequency and lifetime hours.
The inclusion of a built-in fuel gauge in the generator streamlines gas level checks for quick and convenient assessments.
Considering security aspects, the generator boasts an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), offering peace of mind throughout operation.
With the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), letting you start the generator quickly, the Firman H08051 also comes with several accessories, including: propane hose, tool kit, oil and funnel.

The Firman H08051 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Firman H08051 compare to dual fuel generators of similar power (between 7500 and 8500 W).
- With a dry weight of 212 lbs, the Firman H08051 sits comfortably within the expected weight range for dual fuel devices generating 7500 to 8500 rated watts. Weight-conscious users may find the Cummins Onan P9500df appealing, as it is one of the top contenders in this power range, weighing just 194 pounds.
- When compared to other units producing a similar running wattage, this generator and its lowest emitted noise of 74 dBA stand out for being on the louder side. If noise is a concern for you, you could consider the DuroMax XP9500iH, which is one of the least noisy generators in its power range, rated at 61 dBA.
- Since the H08051 boasts with a run time of around 12 hours at 50% load, it can be safely judged as one of the dual fuel devices with the highest run time among those of a comparable output.
- While run time is vital, it hinges on the fuel capacity. To grasp the full picture, we must also factor in fuel efficiency. Among generators of similar power, this generator stands out with a better fuel efficiency than most, with consumption rates around 0.67 GPH (gallon per hour) at 50% load. If you wish to further improve in the area of fuel efficiency, the Cummins Onan P9500df, which boasts with a gas consumption of only 0.6 GPH, may be the right generator for you.

User Reviews
Overall a nice generator. Did the job for me for 10 straight hours when I lost power. I was happy to find a generator with a 50 amp outlet on it. That feature is hard to find anymore.
My Firman dual fuel failed when the valve stem broke and lodged in the cylinder . It was a right off . I had it for less than a year . Customer service would not honor the warranty because they said I had not done ongoing servicing by adjusting valve settings and not doing clearance checks on the rocker arms and I could not prove I had done proper oil changes . Kiss goodbye to $1600
Not impressed, only got to run it 3 hrs, flip the breaker nothing happens, installed new breaker still dont work !
