Zoom on the Firman H05753

In summary, the Firman H05753 is a portable generator especially useful for:

  • RV travellers wishing to enhance their freedom and nomad lifestyle
  • People occasionally participating in sporting competitions, open-air performances and outdoor festivals
  • Food van owners who know that just a short power outage could lose them hundreds of dollars
  • Homeowners who want to be sure of their ability to power their fridges, cooking tools, heating and lighting equipment during power failures

In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability, and any additional features of the device, along with its emission compliance information.

Power & Run Time

The Firman H05753 in use

The Firman H05753

With its dual-fuel technology, the powerful and versatile Firman H05753 provides an output of 120/240V. While gasoline-powered, it gives a running wattage of 5,700W along with a peak wattage of 7,125W. While propane-powered, it provides 5,700 rated watts and 7,125 starting watts.

With a noise rating of 74 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a dishwasher), the generator features a conventional pull-start mechanism, but also a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included).

With a fuel capacity of 8 gallons, the H05753 can operate for around 12 hours at 50% load using gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.67 GPH), or for around 5 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.94 GPH) using propane.

The H05753 is unsuitable for the powering of sensitive electronic devices due to its high THD (<25%).

Outlets

The control panel features the upcoming 6 AC outlets:

Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R)
120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle

Even though this Firman generator isn't quite RV Ready, its L5-30R receptacle allows an easy RV connection via an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, as the H05753 holds a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: you'll easily be able to connect it to your breaker box to power your home during a power outage.

Portability

The Firman H05753 has a conventional, open frame design, of the following dimensions: L30.2 x W27.5 x H26.3 in, which offers support and allows it to be raised above ground level. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.

Since the generator weighs 194.5 lbs, it will be incredibly difficult to manually lift it and transport it, even though it is technically considered to 'be portable' (in the sense that it is movable). Still, once it is on the ground, its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle can easily solve the issue of low mobility and allow for easy relocation of the device.

Features

The H05753's control panel

The H05753 and its control panel include a convenient meter showing you voltage, frequency and lifetime hours. This feature comes handy when monitoring its status and activity.

In addition to this info, a light indicator allows you to instantly see if the oil level is too low.

The generator allows for a quick, easy and convenient assessment of its gas level, as it is equipped with a built-in fuel gauge.

From a security point of view, the generator is equipped with an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, giving you a peace of mind during use.

Besides the classic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to get you promptly started, the Firman H05753 also comes with some accessories: oil, tool kit, propane hose and funnel are included.

Emissions

The Firman H05753 is EPA approved, but NOT CARB-compliant. Thus, it cannot be purchased or sold in California.

However, it features a spark arrestor and therefore, can be used in forested areas.

The Firman H05753 versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Firman H05753 compare to dual fuel generators of similar power (between 5500 and 6500 W).

  • A weight of 194.5 lbs makes the Firman H05753 one of the heavier dual fuel devices in the 5500-6500 rated wattage range. Regarding dry weight, one of the champions in the same power range is the Pulsar PGDA70BiSCO, with a dry weight of only 118 lbs.
  • The generator can be considered average in its noise for its type and power category, as it is rated at 74 dBA. If you are concerned with noise, check out the Pulsar PGDA70BiSCO, which is one of the least noisy generators in its power range, with a noise rating of just 62 dBA.
  • Thanks to an impressive running time of around 12 hours at 50% load, the H05753 benefits from one of the highest run times among dual fuel generators of a similar output.
  • The run time is important, but also hugely depends on the capacity of the fuel tank and doesn't mean much if we don't talk about fuel consumption as well. Compared to its peers, this generator is not exactly fuel efficient, compared to similarly powerful devices, with an estimated fuel consumption of 0.67 GPH at a 50% load. If not satisfied with the afore-mentioned fuel consumption, you may wish to check out the Pulsar PGDA70BiSCO. With a fuel consumption of as little as 0.42 GPH, it is one of the most efficient generators currently on the market.

Price comparison

As you can see from this interactive chart, when compared to other 5500-6500W dual fuel generators, the Firman H05753 is on the cheap side of the price range.

It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.

Unlike many websites, we did our best to research each of the specs above. That being said, we are not immune to making the occasional mistake or omission. Should you notice any missing or incorrect values, don't hesitate to suggest improvements so we can address the issue.
* Propane runtime is our own estimation, based on a 20 lbs tank and NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs of propane = 1 gal of gasoline.
