Description
Zoom on the Firman H03654
In summary, the Firman H03654 is a portable generator especially useful for:
- RV travellers who wish to upgrade their experience to another level
- People occasionally participating in outdoor fairs, festivals or events
- Homeowners who want to be able to use the most necessary devices in their household, even during a blackout
The subsequent sections will explore in detail its power characteristics, the diverse outlets it provides, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it offers.
Power & Run Time
Featuring dual-fuel technology, the Firman H03654 provides 120V, as well as versatility and power. Running on gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 3,650W and a peak wattage of 4,550W. Alternatively, when fueled by propane, it offers 3,300 running watts and 4,100 peak watts.
Featuring a noise rating of 67 dBA (less noisy than an office), the generator is equipped with both a manual recoil starter system and a user-friendly and efficient electric starter (battery included) for starting.
In terms of running time, the H03654, equipped with a 5 gallons fuel tank, is capable of running continuously for around 14 hours at 50% load on a full gasoline tank (with fuel consumption estimated at around 0.36 gallons per hour). When utilizing propane, it provides around 11 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.43 GPH) of operation.
As the H03654 exhibits a THD of less than 25%, which is high, it is best avoided for powering sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel includes the following 4 AC outlets:
Thanks to its TT-30R receptacle (TT meaning 'Travel Trailer'), this Firman generator is RV Ready, ready to power your recreational vehicle with ease.
Portability
With dimensions of L24.7 x W21.8 x H21.6 in, the standard open frame design of the Firman H03654 provides stability and easy maintenance access to components, as well as good air circulation. The design is ideal for rough environments and demanding outdoor use.
Though weighing 119.5 lbs, the generator remains classified as 'portable,' indicating its capability to be moved, though its weight could pose transport challenges. However, the constrained maneuverability is addressed with the assistance of its wheel kit (⌀8") and its folding handle, allowing for easy shifting once the generator is placed on the ground.
Features
To help you monitor the H03654's status and activity, its control panel is equipped with a convenient meter, which displays voltage, frequency and lifetime hours.
The fuel level of the generator can be determined quickly, easily, and conveniently with the help of its built-in fuel gauge.
As far as security is concerned, the generator comes with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during use.
The H03654 also benefits from Firman’s CO Alert carbon monoxide shutdown, which automatically shuts down the engine when harmful levels of carbon monoxide accumulate around the generator or a CO Alert fault occurs.
Besides the classic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to get you promptly started, the Firman H03654 also comes with some accessories: tool kit, propane hose, oil and funnel are included.
The Firman H03654 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Firman H03654 compare to dual fuel generators of similar power (between 3500 and 4500 W).
- Weighing in at 119.5 lbs, the Firman H03654 is one of the heavier dual fuel generators available in the 3500-4500 rated wattage segment. if you wish to prioritize weight, the WEN DF402iX is one of the top contenders in its power category, weighing only 66.1 pounds.
- At 67 dBA, this generator's noise rating is in line with the expected average for devices within its type and power category. If noise emissions are important to you, one of the least noisy generators of this power range is the Westinghouse iGen5000DF with only 52 dBA.
- At 50% load, the H03654 achieves one of the longer run times compared to dual fuel devices of similar power, sustaining operations for around 14 hours. If prolonged run time is essential to your needs, you could consider the Westinghouse iGen5000DF, which offers one of the highest autonomy among devices with similar power output, lasting around 15 hours.
- Run time is crucial, but it heavily relies on the fuel tank's capacity. Thus, considering fuel efficiency alongside is essential. The generator burns fuel at a rate of around 0.36 GPH when running at a 50% load, which is consistent with the average fuel usage of models of comparable power output. If not satisfied with the afore-mentioned fuel consumption, you may wish to check out the Westinghouse iGen5000DF. With a fuel consumption of as little as 0.23 GPH, it is one of the most efficient generators currently on the market.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3500-4500W dual fuel generators, the Firman H03654 is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
The bottom line
- In the expected price range
- Dual fuel

How much oil does it take? (Asked December 14, 2019)
The oil capacity is 20.3 oz.
When connecting this generator to propane with the supplied hose,.....do I just connect the propane tank with the hose to the generator? Is the propane regulator built into the generator? Or do I need to buy a separate regulator? Thank you. (Asked December 10, 2020)
The regulator is included with the LPG hose.
