Description
Zoom on the Energizer eZV7500
In summary, the Energizer eZV7500 is a powerful portable inverter generator especially useful for:
- Food truck owners who want to ensure that their business is fully self-contained and does not rely on potentially unreliable external power
- Homeowners who want to be able to use the most necessary devices in their household, even during a blackout
- Camping and tailgating hobbyists looking for a portable power source
- RV travellers who wish to upgrade their experience to another level
The subsequent sections will explore in detail its power characteristics, the diverse outlets it provides, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it offers.
Power & Run Time
The Energizer eZV7500's design includes a gasoline-fueled 420 cc Energizer OHV 4-stroke engine. With a 120/240V output, it gives a running wattage of 6,500W and also a peak wattage of 7,500W.
The inverter generator features a manual recoil starter system and also a no-fuss and convenient electric starter (battery included). It is rated for a noise of 76 dBA (less noisy than a shower).
The Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system enhances the engine's reliability, lowers fuel consumption, improves startup, reduces servicing, boosts stale fuel resistance, and offers better altitude adaptability.
The eZV7500's fuel tank, boasting 5.5 gallons, allows it to operate for up to 15.5 hours with a full tank (with an estimated fuel consumption of 0.35 GPH).
The eZV7500 generates a clean sine wave: providing <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), delicate electronics can be plugged in its AC outlets safely. This low THD is achieved thanks to Energizer’s Dual Wave Technology, which controls both voltage and current for a pure sine wave output, under any load.
Outlets
The control panel provides the upcoming 5 AC outlets:
For RV owners with a 50-amp service, this Energizer unit is RV-ready, boasting a 14-50R outlet. In addition, as it features a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the eZV7500 is transfer switch ready: in case of a power outage, you will be easily able to connect it to a breaker box and power your household.
Portability
At L28 x W28.1 x H30 in, the standard open frame design of the Energizer eZV7500 delivers stability alongside easy maintenance access to components and good air cooling. The device has been designed for tough environments and demanding outdoor use.
With a weight of 190 lbs, the generator is still labeled as 'portable,' denoting its ability to be moved, although its heaviness might restrict easy portability. However, its challenging mobility is solved by its set of wheels and its folding handle, which will ease its displacement, once it is on the floor.
Features
The control panel of the eZV7500 is equipped with a convenient meter, displaying voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours information, aiding in monitoring its status and activity.
In addition to this info, the device’s light indicators will display if its oil levels are insufficient, the generator is overloaded and the generator is ready.
Benefiting from its built-in fuel gauge, the inverter generator allows for easy and immediate gas level inspections.
Regarding security, the generator comes with an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, providing peace of mind during operation.
In addition to the traditional documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to help you get started promptly, the Energizer eZV7500 also includes several accessories: tool kit and funnel.
The Energizer eZV7500 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Energizer eZV7500 compare to generators of similar power (between 6000 and 7000 W).
- Having a dry weight of 190 lbs, the Energizer eZV7500 belongs in the expected weight range for generators which produce 6000 to 7000 rated watts. If you are concerned by weight, one of the champions in the above-mentioned power range is the Pulsar PGDA70BiSCO, with a dry weight of just 118 pounds.
- When compared to devices able to produce a similar running wattage, this inverter generator and its lowest emitted noise of 76 dBA is on the noisier side. If noise emissions are important to you, one of the least noisy generators of this power range is the Powerhorse 7500i with only 55 dBA.
- At a 25% load, the eZV7500 offers up to 15.5 hours of runtime on a full tank, placing it within the average autonomy range among generators of similar power level. If run time is one of your main concerns, the DuroMax XP8500EH could be worth looking at. It boasts one of the highest run times among units of comparable power, lasting up to 25 hours.
- Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. This inverter generator is one of the more fuel-efficient options in its power range, consuming approximately 0.35 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load. If you're placing a high priority on fuel consumption, the DuroMax XP7500DX, with a low fuel consumption rate of 0.29 GPH, could be an option to consider.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 6000-7000W inverter generators, the Energizer eZV7500 is on the expensive side of the price range.
While certainly not the cheapest of its kind, purchasing it would most likely also mean enjoying the reliability of a high-end product.
The bottom line
- Several accessories included
- 4 different AC outlet types
- Electric start
- Inverter
- Electronic Fuel Injection
- Fuel efficient
- Decent weight (190 lbs)
- Decent run time
- On the expensive side
- No remote start
- No parallel ports
- On the noisy side (76 dBA)

User Reviews
We bought one of these as a backup unit in case of extended power outage. Initially it started and ran, although I never gave it a large load test, just checked that it would run power tools. 1 year later, I thought I would give it a check, as it had never been used since the initial 10 minute test. I wouldn’t start! I found a 4 amp fuse had blown, where the the electrical schematic showed should have been a 10 amp fuse. When I got the engine running, it showed a power generation fault. The 1 year labour warranty had expired, but was still covered for parts. The distributor suggested a local repair business to take it to. It has been one thing after another (major parts unavailability etc), and the small engine repair shop is now recommending a complete replacement of the generator. The distributor has not agreed to this yet. It has been at the repair shop for 4 months now. If there is an upside, it would be that we have not had any significant power outages in the meantime. I don’t think I would recommend this unit.
