Zoom on the Energizer eZV7500
In summary, the Energizer eZV7500 is a powerful portable inverter generator especially useful for:
- Food van owners who know that just a short power outage could lose them hundreds of dollars
- Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
- Camping and tailgating buffs looking to enhance their experience
- RV travellers who wish to upgrade their experience to another level
The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, the extra features it benefits from, and any relevant emission compliance details.
Power & Run Time
The Energizer eZV7500's engine, 420 cc Energizer OHV 4-stroke, fueled by gasoline, can deliver 120/240V. It provides a running wattage of 6,500W and reaches a peak wattage of 7,500W.
The inverter generator features a conventional pull-start mechanism and also a convenient and easy-to-use electric starter (battery included). It is rated for a noise of 76 dBA (less noisy than a vacuum cleaner).
The Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system enhances the engine's reliability, lowers fuel consumption, improves startup, reduces servicing, boosts stale fuel resistance, and offers better altitude adaptability.
The eZV7500 can operate for up to 15.5 hours with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.35 GPH), due to its fuel capacity of 5.5 gallons.
Sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets, as the eZV7500 produces a clean sine wave, with a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). This low THD is achieved thanks to Energizer’s Dual Wave Technology, which controls both voltage and current for a pure sine wave output, under any load.
Outlets
The control panel provides the upcoming 5 AC outlets:
If you own an RV with a 50-amp service, you can consider this Energizer unit as RV-ready, as it features a 14-50R outlet. Its L5-30R receptacle can also be used for a simple RV connection with an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. In addition, due to the featured twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the eZV7500 is transfer switch ready: you may connect it to a breaker box to power your household during a power outage.
Portability
With its dimensions of L28 x W28.1 x H30 in, the conventional, open frame design of the Energizer eZV7500 offers stability and allows the generator to be raised above ground level. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.
Although this generator is technically considered 'portable' (in the sense that it can be moved), its 190 lbs make it incredibly difficult to manually lift and transport. However, this lack of maneuverability is compensated by its set of wheels and its folding handle, with which you can conveniently shift it, once it's on the ground.
Features
To help you monitor the eZV7500's status and activity, its control panel is equipped with a convenient meter showing you voltage, frequency and lifetime hours.
In addition to this info, when the generator is ready, its oil levels are insufficient and the generator is on overload, you will be informed by the featured light indicators.
The inverter generator includes a built-in fuel gauge, a quick, easy and convenient method of checking the device’s gas level.
Security-wise, this product benefits from an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), which gives you a complete peace of mind when using it.
Besides the classic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to get you promptly started, the Energizer eZV7500 also comes with some accessories: funnel and tool kit are included.
Emissions
The Energizer eZV7500 is EPA-approved and CARB-compliant. Thus, selling and purchasing this generator is allowed in each of the 50 states, including California.
Moreover, it features a spark arrestor, which makes it suitable for use in forested areas.
The Energizer eZV7500 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Energizer eZV7500 compare to generators of similar power (between 6000 and 7000 W).
- Since the generator weighs in at a dry weight of 190 lbs, the Energizer eZV7500 belongs in the expected weight range for devices which can produce between 6000 and 7000 rated watts. If you are concerned by weight, one of the champions in the above-mentioned power range is the A-iPower SUA7600iED, with a dry weight of just 130 pounds.
- Among the generators of a comparable running wattage, this inverter generator with a lowest noise of 76 dBA can be judged as noisy. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may be interested in the Powerhorse 7500i, one of the least noisy generators similarly powerful as this one, rated for 55 dBA.
- The eZV7500, falls within the average autonomy range compared to generators of a roughly same power, with a run time of up to 15.5 hours at a 25% load and a full tank. If you consider autonomy on a single full tank as one of the deciding factors, one of the generators in the same power range that offers the highest run time is the DuroMax XP8500EH, with up to 25 hours.
- Even though run times are undoubtedly important, they are dependent on the fuel capacity to a large extent. For a more wholesome picture, we must take into consideration the fuel consumption of the generator. This inverter generator, with an estimated fuel consumption of just 0.35 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load, is one of the more fuel efficient generators, for the previously mentioned wattage range. If you wish to further improve in the area of fuel efficiency, the DuroMax XP7500DX, which boasts with a gas consumption of only 0.29 GPH, may be the right generator for you.
Price comparison
As you can see from this interactive chart, when compared to other 6000-7000W inverter generators, the Energizer eZV7500 is on the expensive side of the price range.
While certainly not the cheapest of its kind, purchasing it would most likely also mean enjoying the reliability of a high-end product.

User Reviews
We bought one of these as a backup unit in case of extended power outage. Initially it started and ran, although I never gave it a large load test, just checked that it would run power tools. 1 year later, I thought I would give it a check, as it had never been used since the initial 10 minute test. I wouldn’t start! I found a 4 amp fuse had blown, where the the electrical schematic showed should have been a 10 amp fuse. When I got the engine running, it showed a power generation fault. The 1 year labour warranty had expired, but was still covered for parts. The distributor suggested a local repair business to take it to. It has been one thing after another (major parts unavailability etc), and the small engine repair shop is now recommending a complete replacement of the generator. The distributor has not agreed to this yet. It has been at the repair shop for 4 months now. If there is an upside, it would be that we have not had any significant power outages in the meantime. I don’t think I would recommend this unit.
