- Camping and tailgating buffs looking to enhance their experience
In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability, and any additional features of the device.
Power & Run Time
With a 212 cc OHV 4-stroke engine, the ECHO EGi-3600LN operates on gasoline, providing 120V, with a running wattage of 3,000W and a starting wattage of 3,600W. Furthermore, the parallel capability (parallel kit not included) offers the advantage of doubling power output when connected to another similar or compatible unit, delivering expanded energy capacity and flexibility for various applications.
The inverter generator is rated for a noise of 63 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a normal conversation). Its starting mechanisms include a conventional pull-start mechanism and a user-friendly and efficient electric starter (battery included).
With a fuel capacity of 2.2 gallons, the EGi-3600LN can run for around 8.5 hours at 50% load when the tank is full (fuel consumption is approximately 0.26 gallons per hour).
Featuring a <5% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), the EGi-3600LN delivers a clean sine wave, guaranteeing the safety of your sensitive electronics plugged into its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel includes the following 3 AC outlets:
Moreover, it boasts 3 DC outlets: there's a 12V 8A receptacle with which you may charge your batteries with ease and two 5V USB ports perfect for conveniently charging mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices.
This ECHO generator isn't quite RV Ready, but it features an L5-30R receptacle, allowing a simple RV connection through an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor.
Portability
With its enclosed inverter generator design (L25.3 x W18.9 x H19.6 in), the ECHO EGi-3600LN offers superior aesthetics and operates with minimized noise levels, distinguishing itself from standard, open frame generators. This modern design aims to provide an ideal power solution to recreational users.
Though weighing 107 lbs, the generator remains classified as 'portable,' indicating its capability to be moved, though its weight could pose transport challenges. Still, once it is on the ground, its set of 2 wheels and its folding handle can easily solve the issue of low mobility and allow for easy relocation of the device.
Features
On the top of the unit, a handy compartment allows for an easy and convenient onboard storage of maintenance-related tools.
To help you monitor the EGi-3600LN's status and activity, its control panel is equipped with a digital data center, giving you information on the power output, fuel level and lifetime run hours.
In addition to this info, several light indicators serve to show you when its oil levels are insufficient, the generator is on overload and the generator is ready.
As for its security measures, the device features an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), letting you use it with a peace of mind.
In addition to the standard documentation and owner's manual (opens in a new tab) for prompt setup, ECHO has also included a tool kit in the packaging of the EGi-3600LN.
The ECHO EGi-3600LN versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the ECHO EGi-3600LN compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- At 107 lbs, the ECHO EGi-3600LN stands out as one of the heavier inverter generators rated from 2500 to 3500 watts. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Pulsar PGD40iSCO with only 46 pounds.
- Because this inverter generator emits noise as low as 63 dBA, it can be considered to have a pretty average expected noise rating for a device of its power. If you'd like a less noisy alternative, the Honda EU3000iS is a strong contender. It boasts a noise rating of 50 dBA, placing it among the quietest generators in its power category.
- The EGi-3600LN, falls within the average autonomy range compared to inverter generators of a roughly same power, with a run time of around 8.5 hours at a 50% load and a full tank. If prolonged run time is essential to your needs, you could consider the Ryobi RYi4022X, which offers one of the highest autonomy among devices with similar power output, lasting around 12 hours.
- Run time is crucial, but it heavily relies on the fuel tank's capacity. Thus, considering fuel efficiency alongside is essential. Among devices of similar power, this inverter generator has one of the better fuel efficiency, with consumption rates of around 0.26 GPH (gallon per hour) at 50% load. If you are concerned with gasoline efficiency, having a fuel consumption of just 0.22 GPH, the Pulsar PGD40iSCO is a device you could look out for.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 2500-3500W inverter generators, the ECHO EGi-3600LN is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
The bottom line
- In the expected price range
- Onboard storage for maintenance tools
- Electric start
- Parallel capable
- Inverter
- Fuel efficient
- Acceptable noise (63 dBA)
- Decent run time
- No remote start
- On the heavy side (107 lbs)

User Reviews
Had just enough power to run a space heater, refrigerator, lamp, computers, phone chargers, TV and DVD player, during a power outage due to a once in a lifetime ice storm in Texas around mid February 2021.
It literally saved our lives. We had to unplug the refrigerator to be able to cook on electric griddle but it sure kept us warm.
