Power & Run Time

The DuroMax XP7000iH in use

The DuroMax XP7000iH

Featuring dual-fuel technology, the DuroMax XP7000iH provides 120/240V, as well as versatility and power. Running on gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 5,500W and a peak wattage of 7,000W. Alternatively, when fueled by propane, it offers 5,225 running watts and 6,650 peak watts. In addition, the parallel capability (parallel kit not included) empowers increasing of power output when linked to another similar or compatible unit, ensuring expanded energy capacity and reliability for various applications.

DuroMax’s Auto Fuel Selection technology automatically selects the fuel source (LPG or gasoline) depending on availability and prioritizes LPG. Thus, if a propane tank with enough LPG is connected, the generator will automatically use LPG. If no propane tank is connected, or if there is not enough LPG remaining in the tank, the generator will use gasoline.

The inverter generator, rated for a noise of 62 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a normal conversation), provides flexibility in starting, offering both a traditional recoil pull-start mechanism and a user-friendly and efficient electric starter (battery included). Additionally, the XP7000iH features remote starting, offering users increased convenience (key fob included).

The running time of the XP7000iH, with its 3 gallons fuel capacity, can reach up to 16 hours on a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.19 GPH). With propane, it can reach up to 13 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.36 GPH).

The XP7000iH produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.

The control panel features 3 AC outlets as follows:

Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle

The XP7000iH's twist-lock L14-30R receptacle makes it transfer switch ready, enabling hassle-free connection to your breaker box for powering your home during outages.

As an inverter generator, the DuroMax XP7000iH showcases a closed design (L25.1 x W19.4 x H21.4 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring quieter operation compared to conventional, open frame models. The featured design follows the latest trends and is ideal for easy and recreational use.

Although this generator is technically considered 'portable' (in the sense that it can be moved), its 128 lbs make it incredibly difficult to manually lift and transport. Despite the restricted maneuverability, its set of 2 wheels (⌀7") and its telecospic handle provides a solution, allowing for convenient shifting once the generator is positioned on the ground.

The XP7000iH's control panel

For easy status and activity monitoring of the XP7000iH, its control panel integrates a digital data center, offering insights into the lifetime run hours, voltage, frequency, fuel level and power output.

In addition to this info, the device’s light indicators will display if its oil levels are insufficient, the generator is overloaded and the generator is ready.

As for its security measures, the device features an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, letting you use it with a peace of mind.

The XP7000iH also benefits from DuroMax’s CO Alert carbon monoxide shutdown. If CO levels become unsafe or rapidly increase, the generator will automatically shut down, an indicator will light red, and the engine will not restart for 5 minutes.

Alongside the standard documentation and an owner's manual for quick setup, the DuroMax XP7000iH is bundled with additional accessories: tool kit, funnel, battery charger and key fob.

The DuroMax XP7000iH versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the DuroMax XP7000iH compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 5000 and 6000 W).

  • Considering its weight, the DuroMax XP7000iH registers at a modest 128 pounds, placing it among the lighter inverter generators in the 5000 to 6000 rated wattage selection. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Champion 201238 with only 101.4 pounds.
  • Given its rated noise level of 62 dBA, this inverter generator aligns with the average expected noise rating for devices of similar type and power. If noise level is one your key decisive factors, you may find the Honda EU7000iS appealing. It's rated at 52 dBA, making it one of the quietest generators in its power range.
  • Among its inverters with similar power, the XP7000iH offers one of the highest run times, running for up to 16 hours at 25% load.
  • Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. This inverter generator is one of the most fuel-efficient models of the aforementioned output range, as its estimated fuel consumption reaches just 0.19 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load.
