Zoom on the DuroMax XP2300iH
In summary, the DuroMax XP2300iH is a quiet, compact and lightweight portable inverter generator especially useful for:
- Tailgating and campground aficionados with the desire of enjoying power anywhere they go
- Amateur DIY lovers
- RV travellers wishing to enhance their freedom and nomad lifestyle
In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability, and any additional features of the device, along with its emission compliance information.
Power & Run Time
Thanks to its dual-fuel technology, the DuroMax XP2300iH delivers 120V and offers power and versatility. When gasoline-powered, it benefits from a running wattage of 1,800W and a peak wattage of 2,300W. When propane-powered, it has 1,700 rated watts and 2,150 peak watts. In addition, as it is parallel capable (parallel kit included), this power can be doubled when linked to another similar or compatible unit.
DuroMax’s Switch On Demand technology allows you to switch from propane to gasoline or from gasoline to propane while the generator is running.
At a noise rating of 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a quiet suburb), the inverter generator is started via a conventional pull-start mechanism.
The running time of the XP2300iH, with its 1.1 gallon fuel capacity, can reach up to 13 hours on a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.08 GPH). With propane, it can reach up to 38 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.12 GPH).
As the XP2300iH produces a clean sine wave, with a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), sensitive electronics may be plugged in the AC outlets safely.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 3 AC outlets:
In addition, it provides 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (1 x USB-A and 1 x USB-C) with which charging of electronics like mobile phones and tablets is made convenient.
While this DuroMax generator is not RV Ready, its L5-30R receptacle can be used for a simple RV connection with an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor.
Portability
Thanks to its closed inverter generator design (L22 x W14 x H20 in), the DuroMax XP2300iH, is more esthetical than a typical, open frame generator. This type of design is the most modern and convenient way to recreationally generate power.
As the XP2300iH's weight is only 50.6 lbs, it can follow you and your power needs anywhere. In addition, with its set of 2 wheels (⌀4.5") and its telecospic handle, it may be shifted with ease, once placed on the floor.
Features
To help you monitor the XP2300iH's status and activity, its control panel is equipped with a digital data center, giving you information on the voltage, power output, fuel level, frequency and lifetime run hours.
In addition to this info, the device’s light indicators will display if the oil level is too low, the generator is ready and the generator is overloaded.
As far as security is concerned, the generator can be used with a peace of mind, as it features an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker).
The XP2300iH also benefits from DuroMax’s CO Alert carbon monoxide shutdown. If CO levels become unsafe or rapidly increase, the generator will automatically shut down, an indicator will light red, and the engine will not restart for 5 minutes.
While the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), helpful for starting the device promptly, come with the DuroMax XP2300iH, the following accessories are also included: propane hose, tool kit and funnel.
Emissions
The DuroMax XP2300iH is EPA-approved and CARB-compliant. It can therefore be sold and purchased in all 50 states, including California.
Moreover, it features a spark arrestor, so it is adequate for use in forested areas.

The DuroMax XP2300iH versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the DuroMax XP2300iH compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).
- Having a dry weight of 50.6 lbs, the DuroMax XP2300iH belongs in the expected weight range for inverter generators which produce 1500 to 2500 rated watts. In terms of weight, one of the champions in their power range is the Genmax GM2000i, standing at just 34.2 lbs.
- As its lowest possible noise is rated at 52 dBA, this inverter generator qualifies as one of the more quiet of the products of similar type and power. If noise emissions are important to you, one of the least noisy generators of this power range is the Honda EU2200i with only 48 dBA.
- As the XP2300iH features an autonomy of up to 13 hours at 25% load, it has one of the highest run times in comparison to the other inverter generators of its power range.
- Even though run times are undoubtedly important, they are dependent on the fuel capacity to a large extent. For a more wholesome picture, we must take into consideration the fuel consumption of the generator. At an estimated fuel consumption of 0.08 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load, this inverter generator is one of the most fuel efficient units within its wattage category.
Price comparison
As you can see from this interactive chart, when compared to other 1500-2500W dual fuel inverter generators, the DuroMax XP2300iH is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
