Zoom on the DuroMax XP2300iH
To sum up, the DuroMax XP2300iH is a quiet, compact and lightweight portable inverter generator tailored for:
- Camping and tailgating hobbyists looking for a portable power source
- Amateur DIY lovers
- RV travellers looking for even more independence
The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the extra features it benefits from.
Power & Run Time
The dual-fuel technology of the DuroMax XP2300iH allows for an output of 120V and provides superb power and versatility. If gasoline-powered, the device provides a running wattage of 1,800W and a starting wattage of 2,300W. If propane-powered, it gives 1,700 rated watts and 2,150 starting watts. Additionally, the parallel capability (parallel kit included) facilitates doubling of power output when linked to another similar or compatible unit, offering enhanced energy capacity and reliability for diverse requirements.
DuroMax’s Switch On Demand technology allows you to switch from propane to gasoline or from gasoline to propane while the generator is running.
Operating with a noise level of 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a conversation at home), the inverter generator starts up via a manual recoil starter system.
The XP2300iH, with a fuel capacity of 1.1 gallon, reaches a run time of up to 13 hours utilizing gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.08 GPH). Alternatively, it can reach a run time of up to 38 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.12 GPH) with propane.
Featuring a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), the XP2300iH delivers a clean sine wave, guaranteeing the safety of your sensitive electronics plugged into its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel is equipped with the following 3 AC outlets:
Moreover, it boasts 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (1 x USB-A and 1 x USB-C) with which charging of electronics like mobile phones and tablets is made convenient.
Even though this DuroMax generator isn't quite RV Ready, its L5-30R receptacle allows an easy RV connection via an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor.
Portability
With an inverter generator design, the DuroMax XP2300iH features a closed construction (L22 x W14 x H20 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring reduced noise levels, offering a distinct advantage over standard, open frame generators. The design follows the contemporary trends and is perfect for recreationally generating power.
The 50.6 lbs of the XP2300iH's dry weight enables you to use it anywhere you will ever need. Moreover, its set of 2 wheels (⌀4.5") and its telescopic handle facilitate movement of the generator once it's on the ground.
Features
One of the many XP2300iH's features is the digital data center, included in its control panel, which conveniently provides information on the power output, voltage, lifetime run hours, fuel level and frequency and thus, helps you monitor its activity and status.
In addition to this info, light indicators on the device will notify you if the generator is ready, the generator is overloaded and the oil level is too low.
Considering security aspects, the generator boasts an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), offering peace of mind throughout operation.
The XP2300iH also benefits from DuroMax’s CO Alert carbon monoxide shutdown. If CO levels become unsafe or rapidly increase, the generator will automatically shut down, an indicator will light red, and the engine will not restart for 5 minutes.
While the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), helpful for starting the device promptly, come with the DuroMax XP2300iH, the following accessories are also included: propane hose, tool kit and funnel.

The DuroMax XP2300iH versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the DuroMax XP2300iH compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).
- At 50.6 lbs dry, the DuroMax XP2300iH is consistent with the standard weight profile for inverters ranging from 1500 to 2500 rated watts. Weight-conscious users may find the Genmax GM2000i appealing, as it is one of the top contenders in this power range, weighing just 34.2 pounds.
- With a lowest noise rating of 52 dBA, the inverter generator is one of the more quiet of the generators of similar type and power. If you value reduced noise levels, the Honda EU2200i could be worth considering. It's one of the quietest generators in its power range, rated at 48 dBA.
- Thanks to an impressive running time of up to 13 hours at 25% load, the XP2300iH benefits from one of the highest run times among inverter generators of a similar output.
- Run time is crucial, but it heavily relies on the fuel tank's capacity. Thus, considering fuel efficiency alongside is essential. This inverter generator, with an estimated fuel consumption of just 0.08 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load, is one of the most fuel-efficient generators, for the previously mentioned wattage range.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 1500-2500W dual fuel inverter generators, the DuroMax XP2300iH is on the expensive side of the price range.
While certainly not the cheapest of its kind, purchasing it would most likely also mean enjoying the reliability of a high-end product.

Where is it manufactured? (Asked March 11, 2023)
The XP2300iH is manufactured in China.
I have a xp2300ih and I see it has a bonded neutral. Can it be field modified to have a floating neutral? I have it connected to a transfer switch and see that there is some current on the ground wire when operating under load. (Asked January 18, 2026)
We recommend reading our article on neutral conversion or contacting DuroMax to obtain unbonding instructions.
