The subsequent sections will explore in detail its power characteristics, the diverse outlets it provides, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it offers.

Power & Run Time

The DuroMax XP2300iH in use

The DuroMax XP2300iH

With its dual-fuel technology, the powerful and versatile DuroMax XP2300iH provides an output of 120V. While gasoline-powered, it gives a running wattage of 1,800W along with a peak wattage of 2,300W. While propane-powered, it provides 1,700 rated watts and 2,150 starting watts. Furthermore, the parallel capability (parallel kit included) offers the advantage of doubling power output when connected to another similar or compatible unit, delivering expanded energy capacity and flexibility for various applications.

DuroMax’s Switch On Demand technology allows you to switch from propane to gasoline or from gasoline to propane while the generator is running.

With a noise rating of 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a conversation at home), the inverter generator features a standard recoil pull-rope starting mechanism.

In terms of running time, the XP2300iH, equipped with a 1.1 gallon fuel tank, is capable of running continuously for up to 13 hours on a full gasoline tank (with fuel consumption estimated at around 0.08 gallons per hour). When utilizing propane, it provides up to 38 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.12 GPH) of operation.

As the XP2300iH produces a clean sine wave, with a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), sensitive electronics may be plugged in the AC outlets safely.

Outlets

The control panel provides the upcoming 3 AC outlets:

Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R)
120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle

Additionally, it features 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (1 x USB-A and 1 x USB-C) with which charging of electronics like mobile phones and tablets is made convenient.

Despite not meeting the 'RV Ready' criteria, this DuroMax generator grants the advantage of simple RV compatibility via its L5-30R receptacle, enabling you to conveniently power your RV by using an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor.

Portability

As an inverter generator, the DuroMax XP2300iH showcases a closed design (L22 x W14 x H20 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring quieter operation compared to conventional, open frame models. The generator has a contemporary design, convenient for recreationally generating power.

Weighing 50.6 lbs, the XP2300iH is practical, ensuring it can follow you wherever power is required. Moreover, its set of 2 wheels (⌀4.5") and its telescopic handle make it easy to shift the generator once it's on the ground.

Features

The XP2300iH's control panel

For easy status and activity monitoring of the XP2300iH, its control panel integrates a digital data center, offering insights into the voltage, lifetime run hours, power output, fuel level and frequency.

In addition to this info, several light indicators serve to show you when the generator is on overload, the oil level is too low and the generator is ready.

As for its security measures, the device features an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, letting you use it with a peace of mind.

The XP2300iH also benefits from DuroMax’s CO Alert carbon monoxide shutdown. If CO levels become unsafe or rapidly increase, the generator will automatically shut down, an indicator will light red, and the engine will not restart for 5 minutes.

With the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), letting you start the generator quickly, the DuroMax XP2300iH also comes with several accessories, including: tool kit, funnel and propane hose.

The DuroMax XP2300iH versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the DuroMax XP2300iH compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).

  • With a dry weight of 50.6 pounds, the DuroMax XP2300iH finds itself in the expected weight range for inverter generators able to produce between 1500 and 2500 rated watts. If weight is an important consideration for you, the Genmax GM2000i stands out as one of the top contenders in this power category, with a dry weight of 34.2 pounds.
  • With a noise rating as low as 52 dBA, this inverter generator is among the quieter options available in its type and power range. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may be interested in the Honda EU2200i, one of the least noisy generators similarly powerful as this one, rated for 48 dBA.
  • Among its inverters with similar power, the XP2300iH offers one of the highest run times, running for up to 13 hours at 25% load.
  • The run time is important, but also hugely depends on the capacity of the fuel tank and doesn't mean much if we don't talk about fuel consumption as well. This inverter generator is one of the most fuel-efficient models of the aforementioned output range, as its estimated fuel consumption reaches just 0.08 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load.

Price comparison

As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 1500-2500W dual fuel inverter generators, the DuroMax XP2300iH is on the average side of the price range.

Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

Where is it manufactured? (Asked March 11, 2023)

The XP2300iH is manufactured in China.

I have a xp2300ih and I see it has a bonded neutral. Can it be field modified to have a floating neutral? I have it connected to a transfer switch and see that there is some current on the ground wire when operating under load. (Asked January 18, 2026)

We recommend reading our article on neutral conversion or contacting DuroMax to obtain unbonding instructions.
