Description
Introducing the XP130000HXT Tri Fuel generator that America has been waiting for. With 13,000 watts of peak power, this unit will run on Gasoline, Propane, or NATURAL GAS and stands alone as the largest Tri Fuel portable generator on the market!
Zoom on the DuroMax XP13000HXT
In summary, the DuroMax XP13000HXT is a powerful portable generator especially useful for:
- Professionals in need of safely powering high-intensity work or lighting equipment
- Homeowners who want to be sure of their ability to power their fridges, cooking tools, heating and lighting equipment during power failures
The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the extra features it benefits from.
Power & Run Time
The DuroMax XP13000HXT delivers 120/240V and is equipped with a tri-fuel technology, enabling it to operate on gasoline, propane, or natural gas. When powered by gasoline, it achieves a running wattage of 10,500W and a peak wattage of 13,000W. Switching to propane provides 9,500 rated watts and 12,000 peak watts, while natural gas operation delivers 8,500W of rated wattage and 10,000W of starting wattage.
The generator features a manual recoil starter system and also a user-friendly and efficient electric starter (battery included). It is rated for a noise of 74 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a vacuum cleaner). Moreover, to offer you even more convenience, the XP13000HXT can also be remotely started (key fob included).
As for its running time, the XP13000HXT, along with its 8.3 gallons fuel capacity, can run for around 8.5 hours at 50% load with a full tank filled with gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.98 GPH). If propane is used, it can operate for around 3.2 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 1.47 GPH).
As the XP13000HXT exhibits a THD of less than 12%, which is relatively high, it is best avoided for powering sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel is equipped with the following 7 AC outlets:
Though it may not be labeled as 'RV Ready,' this DuroMax generator offers the benefit of hassle-free RV connectivity through its L5-30R receptacle, allowing you to easily power your RV with the assistance of an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, since it boasts a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the XP13000HXT is engineered to be transfer switch ready, ensuring easy integration with your breaker box to provide backup power to your home during outages.
Portability
With dimensions of L30 x W29 x H26 in, the traditional open frame design of the DuroMax XP13000HXT ensures stability while allowing easy maintenance access to components and promoting effective air cooling. The design is ideal for rough environments and demanding outdoor use.
While weighing 240 lbs, the generator is classified as 'portable,' indicating its mobility, albeit its heftiness may limit portability in specific situations. Nevertheless, thanks to its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle (a decent solution to its lack of maneuverability), the generator can be easily moved, once placed the ground.
Features
The XP13000HXT's control panel is equipped with a digital data center, furnishing detailed information on the voltage, fuel level, frequency, power output and lifetime run hours for you to easily track its activity and status.
In addition to this info, a light indicator shows you if the oil level is too low.
From a security point of view, the generator is equipped with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), giving you a peace of mind during use.
The XP13000HXT also benefits from DuroMax’s CO Alert carbon monoxide shutdown. If CO levels become unsafe or rapidly increase, the generator will automatically shut down, an indicator will light red, and the engine will not restart for 5 minutes.
Apart from the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to facilitate setup, the DuroMax XP13000HXT features extra accessories: key fob, tool kit, natural gas hose with NPT adapter, propane hose and funnel. An official storage cover and a suitable running cover are also available, as separate purchases.

The DuroMax XP13000HXT versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the DuroMax XP13000HXT compare to multi-fuel generators of similar power (between 10000 and 11000 W).
- Tipping the scales at 240 lbs, the DuroMax XP13000HXT qualifies as one of the heavier options among multi-fuel generators rated between 10000 and 11000 watts. If you are concerned by weight, one of the champions in the above-mentioned power range is the DuroStar DS13000MX, with a dry weight of just 209 pounds.
- This generator has a somewhat average expected noise for its type and power range, rated at 74 dBA. If you’d prefer a less noisy device, one of the most quiet devices, which share the same power range with this one, is the Genmax GM12500iET, whose lowest noise levels reach just 62 dBA.
- The XP13000HXT's autonomy is somewhat low end compared to devices of its type and power range, as it reaches only around 8.5 hours at 50% load on a full tank. If prolonged run time is essential to your needs, you could consider the Genmax GM15000ET, which offers one of the highest autonomy among devices with similar power output, lasting around 11 hours.
- The run time is important, but also hugely depends on the capacity of the fuel tank and doesn't mean much if we don't talk about fuel consumption as well. When operating at 50% load, the generator's fuel consumption is estimated at 0.98 GPH, placing it within the average range of gasoline usage among similarly powerful devices. If not satisfied with the afore-mentioned fuel consumption, you may wish to check out the WEN TF1300iX. With a fuel consumption of as little as 0.93 GPH, it is one of the most efficient generators currently on the market.
