Zoom on the DuroMax XP13000E
In summary, the DuroMax XP13000E is a powerful portable generator especially useful for professionals who want to be able to deliver results, even during a power failure.
In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
Running on gasoline, the DuroMax XP13000E utilizes a 500 cc (20 hp) DuroMax OHV 4-stroke engine with cast iron sleeve to deliver 120/240V, offering a running wattage of 10,500W and a starting wattage of 13,000W.
Operating with a noise rating of 74 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a vacuum cleaner), this generator offers two starting options: a conventional pull-start mechanism and a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included).
With a full tank, the XP13000E can operate for around 8 hours at 50% load (fuel consumption around 1.04 GPH), thanks to its fuel capacity of 8.3 gallons.
The quite high THD (<12%) of the XP13000E makes it unsuitable for powering sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel provides the upcoming 5 AC outlets:
Moreover, it boasts 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle enabling simple battery charging for added ease.
Even though this DuroMax generator isn't quite RV Ready, its L5-30R receptacle allows an easy RV connection via an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, since it features a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the XP13000E is tailored to be transfer switch ready, making it easy to connect it to your breaker box for home power support during outages.
Portability
With dimensions of L29 x W30 x H26 in, the standard open frame design of the DuroMax XP13000E provides stability and easy maintenance access to components, as well as good air circulation. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.
Despite its weight of 236 lbs, the generator is considered 'portable,' signifying its capability to be moved, albeit its heaviness may hinder easy transport. Nevertheless, thanks to its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle (a decent solution to its lack of maneuverability), the generator can be easily moved, once placed the ground.
Features
The control panel of the XP13000E includes a convenient meter, offering voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours readings, helpful for the monitoring of its status and activity.
In addition to this info, a light indicator shows you if its oil levels are insufficient.
Thanks to its built-in fuel gauge, the generator allows you to quickly, conveniently, and easily check the gas level at a glance.
From a security point of view, the generator is equipped with an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, giving you a peace of mind during use.
Besides the classic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to get you promptly started, the DuroMax XP13000E also comes with some accessories: battery charging cables, funnel and tool kit are included. An official storage cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The DuroMax XP13000E versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the DuroMax XP13000E compare to generators of similar power (between 10000 and 11000 W).
- Weighing in at 236 lbs, the DuroMax XP13000E fits within the expected weight range for devices producing 10000 to 11000 rated watts. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the DuroStar DS13000MX with only 209 pounds.
- At 74 dBA, this generator's noise rating is in line with the expected average for devices within its power category. If noise level is one your key decisive factors, you may find the Genmax GM12500iET appealing. It's rated at 62 dBA, making it one of the quietest generators in its power range.
- As for its runtime, the XP13000E runs for around 8 hours at a 50% load, placing it towards the low end among comparable products. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the Genmax GM15000ET, reaching around 11 hours.
- Run times are important, yet thanks to their dependence on the fuel capacity, they should be judged along with the fuel consumption of the device. This generator is rather wasteful, compared to other devices within the aforementioned output range, when it comes to gasoline consumption, as it reaches roughly 1.04 GPH at a 50% load. If you are concerned with gasoline efficiency, having a fuel consumption of just 0.93 GPH, the WEN TF1300iX is a device you could look out for.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 10000-11000W generators, the DuroMax XP13000E is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
