Zoom on the DuroMax XP13000E
In a few words, the DuroMax XP13000E is a powerful portable generator perfectly suited for professionals in need of safely powering high-intensity work or lighting equipment..
The subsequent sections will explore in detail its power characteristics, the diverse outlets it provides, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it offers.
Power & Run Time
Running on gasoline, the DuroMax XP13000E utilizes a 500 cc (20 hp) DuroMax OHV 4-stroke engine with cast iron sleeve to deliver 120/240V, offering a running wattage of 10,500W and a starting wattage of 13,000W.
The generator, rated for a noise of 74 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a vacuum cleaner), provides flexibility in starting, offering both a conventional pull-start mechanism and a convenient and easy-to-use electric starter (battery included).
The fuel capacity of 8.3 gallons allows the XP13000E to operate for around 8 hours at 50% load with a full tank (fuel consumption around 1.04 GPH).
Considering its relatively high Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 12%, it is not recommended to rely on the XP13000E for powering sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel provides the upcoming 5 AC outlets:
Furthermore, it has 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle making battery charging a breeze.
This DuroMax generator isn't quite RV Ready, but it features an L5-30R receptacle, allowing a simple RV connection through an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, as the XP13000E holds a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: you'll easily be able to connect it to your breaker box to power your home during a power outage.
Portability
At L29 x W30 x H26 in, the DuroMax XP13000E boasts a traditional open frame structure, ensuring stability and allowing for convenient maintenance access to components, promoting air circulation. The device has been designed for tough environments and demanding outdoor use.
Even though this device may be technically portable (as in movable), manipulation and transportation without special equipment can be a challenge, as it weighs 236 pounds. Still, once it is on the ground, its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle can easily solve the issue of low mobility and allow for easy relocation of the device.
Features
Included in the control panel of the XP13000E are a convenient meter, offering voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours readings, essential for monitoring its status and activity.
In addition to this info, the device's light indicator will illuminate to indicate if the oil level is too low.
Thanks to its built-in fuel gauge, the generator allows you to quickly, conveniently, and easily check the gas level at a glance.
From a security standpoint, the product offers an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), allowing you to use it with a peace of mind.
Alongside the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) for quick setup, the DuroMax XP13000E is bundled with additional accessories: battery charging cables, tool kit and funnel. An official storage cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The DuroMax XP13000E versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the DuroMax XP13000E compare to generators of similar power (between 10000 and 11000 W).
- At 236 lbs in dry weight, the DuroMax XP13000E fits well within the typical weight bracket for generators producing 10000 to 11000 rated watts. if you wish to prioritize weight, the DuroStar DS13000MX is one of the top contenders in its power category, weighing only 209 pounds.
- With noise emissions reaching as low as 74 dBA, this generator has a noise level typical for devices of its power category. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may want to take a look at the WEN TF1300iX. It's one of the quietest options among generators of similar power, rated at 64 dBA.
- As for its autonomy, the XP13000E, with an autonomy of around 8 hours at a 50% load, is placed on the low end among the generators of its kind. If extended autonomy is what matters most to you, the Genmax GM15000ET could be an excellent choice, offering one of the longest run times among units in its power category, reaching around 11 hours.
- Even though run times are undoubtedly important, they are dependent on the fuel capacity to a large extent. For a more wholesome picture, we must take into consideration the fuel consumption of the generator. This generator is rather wasteful, compared to other devices within the aforementioned output range, when it comes to gasoline consumption, as it reaches roughly 1.04 GPH at a 50% load. If you wish to get a unit of similar power, but with one of the best fuel efficiency, you could consider the WEN TF1300iX, which has an impressively low fuel consumption of 0.93 GPH.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 10000-11000W generators, the DuroMax XP13000E is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
The bottom line
