Zoom on the DuroMax XP13000E
In a few words, the DuroMax XP13000E is a powerful portable generator perfectly suited for professionals who want to be able to deliver results, even during a power failure..
In the upcoming sections, you'll discover its power characteristics, the array of outlets it presents, its overall portability, and the additional features it possesses.
Power & Run Time
The DuroMax XP13000E houses a 500 cc (20 hp) DuroMax OHV 4-stroke engine with cast iron sleeve, which provides 120/240V, consumes gasoline and delivers a running wattage of 10,500W along with a peak wattage of 13,000W.
Operating with a noise rating of 74 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a shower), this generator offers two starting options: a traditional recoil pull-start mechanism and an intuitive and practical electric starter (battery included).
With a fuel capacity of 8.3 gallons, the XP13000E may run for around 8 hours at 50% load with a full tank (fuel consumption around 1.04 GPH).
As the XP13000E has a relatively high THD (<12%), it is not recommended to use it to power sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel is equipped with the following 5 AC outlets:
Moreover, it comes equipped with 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle allowing you to easily charge your batteries.
Though it may not be labeled as 'RV Ready,' this DuroMax generator offers the benefit of hassle-free RV connectivity through its L5-30R receptacle, allowing you to easily power your RV with the assistance of an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, because the XP13000E is equipped with a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: it can power your home during a power outage, as it can be easily connected to your breaker box to power your household.
Portability
At L29 x W30 x H26 in, the traditional open frame structure of the DuroMax XP13000E ensures stability while facilitating convenient maintenance access to components and promoting air cooling. The design is ideal for rough environments and demanding outdoor use.
With a weight of 236 lbs, the generator is still labeled as 'portable,' denoting its ability to be moved, although its heaviness might restrict easy portability. Nevertheless, the restricted maneuverability is counteracted by its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle, enabling easy shifting once the generator is set in place.
Features
The XP13000E's control center features a convenient meter, showing voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours metrics to aid you with the monitoring of its status and activity.
In addition to this info, a light indicator on the device will notify you if the oil level is too low.
With its built-in fuel gauge, the generator provides quick and convenient gas level checks.
As far as security is concerned, the generator can be used with a peace of mind, as it features an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off.
Besides the classic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to get you promptly started, the DuroMax XP13000E also comes with some accessories: tool kit, funnel and battery charging cables are included. An official storage cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The DuroMax XP13000E versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the DuroMax XP13000E compare to generators of similar power (between 10000 and 11000 W).
- Since the generator weighs in at a dry weight of 236 lbs, the DuroMax XP13000E belongs in the expected weight range for devices which can produce between 10000 and 11000 rated watts. If weight is an important consideration for you, the Genmax GM12000XiT stands out as one of the top contenders in this power category, with a dry weight of 194 pounds.
- Because this generator emits noise as low as 74 dBA, it can be considered to have a pretty average expected noise rating for a device of its power. If noise level is one your key decisive factors, you may find the Genmax GM12500iET appealing. It's rated at 62 dBA, making it one of the quietest generators in its power range.
- In terms of autonomy, the XP13000E offers around 8 hours at a 50% load, placing it at the lower range within its power range. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the DuroStar DS14000iX, reaching around 12.5 hours.
- While the run time is an important parameter, it is dependent on the fuel tank's capacity and thus, doesn't say much on its own unless we consider fuel consumption as well. This generator is somewhat less fuel-efficient than devices of comparable output: its estimated fuel consumption reaches 1.04 GPH at a 50% load. If minimizing fuel usage is one of your key priorities, the DuroStar DS14000iX is one of the most efficient devices with similar power output, with a gasoline consumption of only 0.85 gallons per hour.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 10000-11000W generators, the DuroMax XP13000E is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
