Power & Run Time

The DuroMax XP11000iH in use

The DuroMax XP11000iH

Thanks to its dual-fuel technology, the DuroMax XP11000iH provides a 120/240V output and offers both versatility and power. When utilizing gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 9,000W and a starting wattage of 11,000W. Alternatively, when operating on propane, it provides 8,550 running watts and 10,450 starting watts. Additionally, as the generator is parallel capable (parallel kit not included), it can be linked to a second unit for more power.

DuroMax’s Switch On Demand technology allows you to switch from propane to gasoline or from gasoline to propane while the generator is running.

With a noise rating of 61 dBA (just slightly more noisy than an office), the inverter generator features a traditional recoil pull-start mechanism, but also an easy-to-use and reliable electric starter (battery included). Moreover, the XP11000iH boasts remote starting functionality, adding another layer of convenience (key fob included).

In terms of run time, the XP11000iH, boasting a 7.1 gallons fuel tank, can run for up to 18 hours on a full tank of gasoline (with fuel consumption averaging 0.39 gallons per hour). Additionally, it provides up to 8 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.59 GPH) of operation with propane.

The XP11000iH produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.

Outlets

The control panel provides the upcoming 6 AC outlets:

Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle
120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle

Additionally, it offers 1 DC outlet: there's a 48-58V 10A output to charge your home backup Li-ion batteries.

If your RV requires a 50-amp service, consider this DuroMax unit RV-ready, as it includes a 14-50R outlet. In addition, since it features a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the XP11000iH is tailored to be transfer switch ready, making it easy to connect it to your breaker box for home power support during outages.

Portability

With an inverter generator design, the DuroMax XP11000iH features a closed construction (L26.2 x W25 x H29.6 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring reduced noise levels, offering a distinct advantage over standard, open frame generators. The generator has a contemporary design, convenient for recreationally generating power.

Even at 216 lbs, the generator is categorized as 'portable,' suggesting its movability, although its weight may impede its portability. Nevertheless, it can still be moved quite conveniently with the help of its set of wheels (⌀8.5") and its folding handle, once it is placed on the ground.

The XP11000iH's control panel

Enhancing monitoring capabilities, the XP11000iH features a digital data center within its control panel, furnishing essential details on the voltage, lifetime run hours, power output and frequency for tracking activity and status.

In addition to this info, the device’s light indicators will display if the oil level is too low, the generator is ready and the generator is overloaded.

Featuring a built-in fuel gauge, the inverter generator offers quick, convenient, and easy gas level checks at a glance.

As far as security is concerned, the generator comes with an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, providing peace of mind during use.

The XP11000iH also benefits from DuroMax’s CO Alert carbon monoxide shutdown. If CO levels become unsafe or rapidly increase, the generator will automatically shut down, an indicator will light red, and the engine will not restart for 5 minutes.

Along the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), useful for starting the generator right away, the DuroMax XP11000iH's package also includes these accessories: tool kit, battery charger, battery charging cables, funnel, key fob and propane hose. An official running cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The DuroMax XP11000iH versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the DuroMax XP11000iH compare to generators of similar power (between 8500 and 9500 W).

  • As its weight is 216 pounds, the DuroMax XP11000iH falls in the expected weight range of the devices in the 8500-9500 rated wattage category. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc with only 187.4 pounds.
  • With a lowest possible noise of 61 dBA, this inverter generator places itself amongst the most quiet of the products delivering similar power.
  • Among its devices with similar power, the XP11000iH offers one of the higher run times, running for up to 18 hours at 25% load. If you consider autonomy on a single full tank as one of the deciding factors, one of the generators in the same power range that offers the highest run time is the Westinghouse iGen11000TFc, with up to 19 hours.
  • Even though run times are undoubtedly important, they are dependent on the fuel capacity to a large extent. For a more wholesome picture, we must take into consideration the fuel consumption of the generator. This inverter generator has one of the best fuel efficiency when compared to other units in the aforementioned output range, consuming approximately 0.39 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load.
According to our stats, the following comparison is pretty popular: DuroMax XP11000iH vs Westinghouse iGen11000DFc.
