Be ready for anything with the DuroMax XP10000EH generator. Equipped to run on either gasoline or liquid propane, this dual fuel unit can perform anywhere that portable power is needed. Easy to transport over any terrain, from the neck of the woods to the downtown jobsite, the XP10000EH generator will keep you going.

Zoom on the DuroMax XP10000EH

In a nutshell, the DuroMax XP10000EH is a portable generator mostly geared towards:

  • Food van owners who know that just a short power outage could lose them hundreds of dollars
  • Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
  • Professionals in need of safely powering high-intensity work or lighting equipment

The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the extra features it benefits from.

Power & Run Time

The DuroMax XP10000EH in use

The DuroMax XP10000EH

Featuring dual-fuel technology, the DuroMax XP10000EH provides 120/240V, as well as versatility and power. Running on gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 8,000W and a peak wattage of 10,000W. Alternatively, when fueled by propane, it offers 6,800 running watts and 8,500 peak watts.

Operating with a noise rating of 72 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a dishwasher), this generator offers two starting options: a standard recoil pull-rope starting mechanism and a user-friendly and efficient electric starter (battery included).

The running time of the XP10000EH, with its 8.3 gallons fuel capacity, can reach up to 22 hours on a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.38 GPH). With propane, it can reach up to 8.5 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.55 GPH).

Due to the relatively high THD (<12%) of the XP10000EH, it is advised against using it for powering sensitive electronic devices.

Outlets

The control panel is equipped with the following 5 AC outlets:

Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle
120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle

Furthermore, it showcases 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A output making battery charging a breeze.

This DuroMax generator features an L5-30R receptacle, enabling an easy RV connection via an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. However, it is still not quite RV ready. Besides, with its twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the XP10000EH is designed to be transfer switch ready, allowing easy connection to your breaker box for powering your home during a blackout.

Portability

At L29 x W30 x H26 in, the standard open frame design of the DuroMax XP10000EH delivers stability alongside easy maintenance access to components and good air cooling. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.

Despite its weight of 220 lbs, the generator is still considered 'portable,' meaning it is movable, although its heftiness may restrict portability in certain environments or require additional considerations for transportation and setup. However, the lack of maneuverability can be offset with its wheel kit (⌀10") and its folding handle, which allows for convenient shifting once the generator is placed on the ground.

Features

The XP10000EH's control panel

To facilitate status and activity monitoring, a handy voltmeter that allows you to easily monitor power output anytime are embedded in the control panel of the XP10000EH.

In addition to this info, a light indicator allows you to instantly see if the oil level is too low.

The generator allows for a quick, easy and convenient assessment of its gas level, as it is equipped with a built-in fuel gauge.

Security-wise, this product benefits from an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), which gives you a complete peace of mind when using it.

In addition to the traditional documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to help you get started promptly, the DuroMax XP10000EH also includes several accessories: funnel, tool kit and propane hose. An official storage cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The DuroMax XP10000EH versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the DuroMax XP10000EH compare to dual fuel generators of similar power (between 7500 and 8500 W).

  • At 220 lbs, the DuroMax XP10000EH stands out as one of the heavier dual fuel generators rated from 7500 to 8500 watts. If you are mindful of weight, the Pulsar PGL9000BCO is among the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 149 pounds.
  • Given its rated noise level of 72 dBA, this generator aligns with the average expected noise rating for devices of similar type and power. If you'd like a less noisy alternative, the DuroMax XP9500iH is a strong contender. It boasts a noise rating of 61 dBA, placing it among the quietest generators in its power category.
  • The XP10000EH provides one of the highest run time among similarly powerful dual fuel devices, reaching up to 22 hours at 25% load.
  • While run time matters, it's heavily influenced by the fuel tank's capacity. Hence, it's important to consider fuel efficiency alongside. This generator can be considered as fuel-efficient, due to its low estimated fuel consumption of only 0.38 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load, within the aforementioned wattage range. If fuel consumption is your top priority, we suggest to check out the DuroMax XP9500iH, which has a fuel consumption of only 0.34 GPH and thus, is one of the most efficient devices in our database.
