Power & Run Time

The Champion 201511 in use

The Champion 201511

Thanks to its dual-fuel technology, the Champion 201511 provides a 120V output and offers both versatility and power. When utilizing gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 3,300W and a starting wattage of 4,000W. Alternatively, when operating on propane, it provides 2,970 running watts and 4,000 starting watts. Furthermore, its parallel capability (ParaLink (opens in a new tab) not included) allows for increasing of power output when connected to another similar or compatible unit, ensuring expanded energy capacity and reliability for various applications.

At a noise rating of 64 dBA (just slightly more noisy than an office), this inverter generator can be started via a standard recoil pull-rope starting mechanism, or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). Champion’s EZ Start Dial lets you intuitively start the engine with easy access to all the controls you need.

The running time of the 201511, with its 1.54 gallon fuel capacity, can reach up to 10 hours on a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.15 GPH). With propane, it can reach up to 25 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.19 GPH).

As the 201511 produces a clean sine wave, with a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), sensitive electronics may be plugged in the AC outlets safely.

Outlets

The control panel features the following 3 AC outlets:

Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R)
120V 30A (TT-30R) receptacle

Furthermore, it showcases 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle with which you may charge your batteries with ease.

With its TT-30R receptacle (TT as in 'Travel Trailer'), this Champion generator is RV Ready.

Portability

With an inverter generator design, the Champion 201511 features a closed construction (L17.9 x W11.7 x H19.7 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring reduced noise levels, offering a distinct advantage over standard, open frame generators. The generator has a contemporary design, convenient for recreationally generating power.

With a dry weight of 54.2 lbs, the 201511 is manageable, ensuring it can accompany you wherever you need power. Moreover, the 201511's convenient handle (molded in the case) makes shifting it an easy task, greatly improving grip.

Features

The 201511's control panel

The device's light indicator will illuminate to indicate if its oil levels are insufficient.

With its built-in fuel gauge, the inverter generator provides quick and convenient gas level checks.

Considering security aspects, the generator boasts an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), offering peace of mind throughout operation.

The unit also benefits from the CO Shield™ technology, which monitors accumulation of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas produced by the engine's exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield™ detects elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine and illuminates a red LED.

Besides the classic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to get you promptly started, the Champion 201511 also comes with some accessories: funnel, oil and propane hose are included.

The Champion 201511 versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 201511 compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).

  • Considering its weight, the Champion 201511 registers at a modest 54.2 pounds, placing it among the lighter inverter generators in the 2500 to 3500 rated wattage selection. Regarding dry weight, one of the champions in the same power range is the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, with a dry weight of only 46 lbs.
  • Among the generators of a comparable running wattage, this inverter generator with a lowest noise of 64 dBA can be judged as noisy. If you'd like a less noisy alternative, the Honda EU3000iS is a strong contender. It boasts a noise rating of 50 dBA, placing it among the quietest generators in its power category.
  • Concerning its runtime, the 201511 provides up to 10 hours at a 25% load, indicating that it falls on the lower side compared to other generators of its type and power range. Concerning the run times, one of the several devices with a comparable output, offering the highest autonomy, is the Champion 200977, which is able to run for up to 22 hours.
  • Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. This inverter generator, with an estimated fuel consumption of just 0.15 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load, is one of the more fuel-efficient generators, for the previously mentioned wattage range. To prioritize fuel savings, we advise considering the Energizer eZV3500P, which stands out for its gasoline efficiency, consuming just 0.13 gallons per hour.
