Description
Zoom on the Champion 201351
In a few words, the Champion 201351 is a compact portable inverter generator perfectly suited for:
- RV travellers who wish to upgrade their experience to another level
- People occasionally participating in outdoor fairs, festivals or events
- Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
- Camping and tailgating hobbyists looking for a portable power source
In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
The Champion 201351's design includes a gasoline-fueled 224 cc OHV 4-stroke engine. With a 120V output, it gives a running wattage of 4,000W and also a peak wattage of 5,500W. In addition, the parallel capability (ParaLink (opens in a new tab) not included) empowers increasing of power output when linked to another similar or compatible unit, ensuring expanded energy capacity and reliability for various applications.
The inverter generator is rated for a noise of 61 dBA (just slightly more noisy than background music). Its starting mechanism is based on a conventional pull-start mechanism. Champion’s EZ Start Dial lets you intuitively start the engine with easy access to all the controls you need.
The 201351's fuel tank, boasting 3.7 gallons, allows it to operate for up to 20 hours with a full tank (with an estimated fuel consumption of 0.19 GPH). Thanks to the Fuel Fill Assist LED, an ingenious LED located near the fuel cap, filling up the unit’s tank is highly facilitated in poor lighting conditions. The LED can illuminate the gasoline filling area simply by pushing a button.
The 201351 produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 5 AC outlets:
Furthermore, it showcases 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle providing easy battery charging capabilities.
Thanks to its TT-30R receptacle (TT meaning 'Travel Trailer'), this Champion generator is RV Ready, ready to power your recreational vehicle with ease.
Portability
The Champion 201351 is an inverter generator and features an encased design with the following dimensions: L24.6 x W19 x H20.9 in. This design enhances aesthetics and helps minimize noise levels, distinguishing it from conventional, open frame products. This type of design is the most modern and convenient way to recreationally generate power.
Although this generator is technically considered 'portable' (in the sense that it can be moved), its 109.1 lbs make it incredibly difficult to manually lift and transport. Despite the restricted maneuverability, its set of 2 wheels (⌀5.5") and its folding handle provides a solution, allowing for convenient shifting once the generator is positioned on the ground.
Features
Enhancing monitoring capabilities, the 201351 features a digital Intelligauge data center within its control panel, furnishing essential details on the frequency, voltage, lifetime run hours and power output for tracking activity and status. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.
In addition to this info, a light indicator allows you to instantly see if its oil levels are insufficient.
Considering security aspects, the generator boasts an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, offering peace of mind throughout operation.
The unit also benefits from the CO Shield™ technology, which monitors accumulation of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas produced by the engine's exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield™ detects elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine and illuminates a red LED.
Apart from the typical documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), which lets you start it right away, the Champion 201351 also is packed along with the following accessories: oil and funnel. The official storage cover and running cover are also available, as separate purchases.

The Champion 201351 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 201351 compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 3500 and 4500 W).
- With a dry weight of 109.1 lbs, the Champion 201351 sits comfortably within the expected weight range for inverters generating 3500 to 4500 rated watts. Regarding dry weight, one of the champions in the same power range is the Genmax GM4600iAEFIC, with a dry weight of only 58.4 lbs.
- This inverter generator has a somewhat average expected noise for its type and power range, rated at 61 dBA. If you wish to prioritize minimal noise, the Westinghouse iGen5000DF stands out as one of the quietest options among generators of similar power, with a rating of 52 dBA.
- As the 201351 features an autonomy of up to 20 hours at 25% load, it has a higher run time than an average generator of its type and power range. If run time is one of your main concerns, the Firman W03661OF could be worth looking at. It boasts one of the highest run times among units of comparable power, lasting up to 25 hours.
- Run time is a key metric, but it's dependent on the generator's fuel tank capacity. Therefore, discussing fuel efficiency is necessary for a complete understanding. This inverter generator provides better fuel efficiency than most others in its wattage range, consuming approximately 0.19 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load. If you're placing a high priority on fuel consumption, the Champion 201319, with a low fuel consumption rate of 0.16 GPH, could be an option to consider.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3500-4500W inverter generators, the Champion 201351 is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

User Reviews
This generator powers my travel trailer with 2 ACs very well. I also use it as a home backup for everything but the home AC and the electric oven. I have almost 200 hours on it so far with no issues.
I’m very impressed with this generator. I’ve owned several different generators, and I would rate this one as the best! Quite, powerful, with great features.
