In a few words, the Champion 201319 is a compact portable inverter generator perfectly suited for:

  • RV travellers looking for even more independence
  • People occasionally participating in sporting competitions, open-air performances and outdoor festivals
  • Amateur DIY lovers
  • Homeowners who want to be able to use the most necessary devices in their household, even during a blackout

The subsequent sections will explore in detail its power characteristics, the diverse outlets it provides, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it offers.

Power & Run Time

The Champion 201319 in use

The Champion 201319

Featuring dual-fuel technology, the Champion 201319 provides 120V, as well as versatility and power. Running on gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 3,500W and a peak wattage of 4,500W. Alternatively, when fueled by propane, it offers 3,150 running watts and 4,500 peak watts. In addition, the device is parallel capable (ParaLink (opens in a new tab) not included) and thus, can be linked to a similar or compatible unit for added power.

Enjoying a noise rating of 61 dBA (just slightly more noisy than an office), this inverter generator can be started thanks to a manual recoil starter system, but also to a user-friendly and hassle-free electric starter (battery included). Champion’s EZ Start Dial lets you intuitively start the engine with easy access to all the controls you need.

Regarding its running time, the 201319, with a 2.3 gallons fuel tank, can operate for up to 14 hours with a full gasoline tank (with fuel consumption estimated at around 0.16 gallons per hour). It also offers up to 21 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.22 GPH) of operation when using propane.

Featuring a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), the 201319 delivers a clean sine wave, guaranteeing the safety of your sensitive electronics plugged into its AC outlets.

Outlets

The control panel provides the upcoming 3 AC outlets:

Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R)
120V 30A (TT-30R) receptacle

It also sports 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle providing easy battery charging capabilities.

With its TT-30R receptacle (TT as in 'Travel Trailer'), this Champion generator is RV Ready.

Portability

Thanks to its closed inverter generator design (L23.2 x W17.7 x H20.1 in), the Champion 201319 not only offers superior aesthetics but also operates with reduced noise levels compared to a typical, open frame generator. This type of design is the most modern and convenient way to recreationally generate power.

Though weighing 103.6 lbs, the generator remains classified as 'portable,' indicating its capability to be moved, though its weight could pose transport challenges. However, the lack of maneuverability can be offset with its set of 2 wheels (⌀5") and its folding handle, which allows for convenient shifting once the generator is placed on the ground.

Features

Panel of the Champion 201319

The 201319's control panel

Included in the control panel of the 201319, a digital Intelligauge data center assists in tracking its status and activity by providing details on the voltage, lifetime run hours, power output and frequency.

In addition to this info, a light indicator on the device will notify you if its oil levels are insufficient.

The inverter generator allows for a quick, easy and convenient assessment of its gas level, as it is equipped with a built-in fuel gauge.

As far as security is concerned, the generator comes with an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, providing peace of mind during use.

The unit also benefits from the CO Shield™ technology, which monitors accumulation of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas produced by the engine's exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield™ detects elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine and illuminates a red LED.

Beyond the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to assist with setup, the Champion 201319 ships with supplementary accessories: tool kit, propane hose, funnel and oil. The official storage cover and running cover are also available, as separate purchases.

The Champion 201319 versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 201319 compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 3000 and 4000 W).

  • At 103.6 lbs dry, the Champion 201319 is consistent with the standard weight profile for inverters ranging from 3000 to 4000 rated watts. Weight-conscious users may find the Pulsar PGD40iSCO appealing, as it is one of the top contenders in this power range, weighing just 46 pounds.
  • With noise emissions reaching as low as 61 dBA, this inverter generator has a noise level typical for devices of its type and power category. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may be interested in the Westinghouse iGen4000DFc, one of the least noisy generators similarly powerful as this one, rated for 52 dBA.
  • With up to 14 hours of runtime at a 25% load on a full tank, the 201319 is in line with the average autonomy range for inverter generators of comparable power. If run time is one of your main concerns, the Firman WH03662OF could be worth looking at. It boasts one of the highest run times among units of comparable power, lasting up to 25 hours.
  • Run time is crucial, but it heavily relies on the fuel tank's capacity. Thus, considering fuel efficiency alongside is essential. With an estimated gasoline consumption of 0.16 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load, this inverter generator is among the more fuel-efficient of the products in the above-mentioned wattage range. If you wish to get a unit of similar power, but with one of the best fuel efficiency, you could consider the Energizer eZV3500P, which has an impressively low fuel consumption of 0.13 GPH.

Price comparison

As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3000-4000W dual fuel inverter generators, the Champion 201319 is on the average side of the price range.

Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

I bought this for back-up power during outages and to use while camping in our RV. I love the fact that it is RV ready and will power out 13.5kw A/C and other appliances simultaneously. I have only run it on propane, and really don’t plan on using gasoline unless necessary. It starts easily and runs very quietly. I run it on our RV’s onboard propane and it will run all weekend on our RV tanks with gas to spare. I would highly recommend this generator to any of my friends.

    + PROS:
    • Powerful
    • Quiet
    • Fuel efficient
    - CONS:
    • It may be a bit heavy for a smaller person to move around, although, the folding handle works very well.
