Zoom on the Champion 201267
In a few words, the Champion 201267 is a portable generator perfectly suited for:
- RV travellers wishing to enhance their freedom and nomad lifestyle
- People occasionally participating in outdoor fairs, festivals or events
- Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the extra features it benefits from.
Power & Run Time
The Champion 201267's design includes a gasoline-fueled 224 cc OHV 4-stroke engine. With a 120V output, it gives a running wattage of 3,550W and also a peak wattage of 4,450W.
Rated for 68 dBA (less noisy than a normal conversation), the generator's starting mechanism relies on a conventional pull-start mechanism.
With its 4.7 gallons fuel tank, the 201267 can operate for around 14 hours at 50% load when fully fueled (with fuel usage averaging around 0.34 GPH).
As the 201267 has a high THD (<20%), it is not recommended to use it to power sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel features the following 4 AC outlets:
Thanks to its TT-30R receptacle (TT stands for 'Travel Trailer'), this Champion generator is RV Ready.
Portability
With dimensions of L24.4 x W23.9 x H22.5 in, the standard open frame design of the Champion 201267 provides stability and easy maintenance access to components, as well as good air circulation. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.
At 104.5 lbs, the 201267 is easily managed, ensuring it can be brought along wherever you need power. Moreover, its wheel kit (⌀8") and its folding handle facilitate movement of the generator once it's on the ground.
Features
The 201267 and its control panel include an Intelligauge meter, showing voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours metrics. This feature comes handy when monitoring its status and activity.
Thanks to its built-in fuel gauge, the generator allows you to quickly, conveniently, and easily check the gas level at a glance.
In terms of security, the generator features an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, ensuring peace of mind during its use. Champion's built-in surge protector (Volt Guard™) safeguards your equipment and appliances against voltage spikes.
The unit also benefits from the CO Shield™ technology, which monitors accumulation of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas produced by the engine's exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield™ detects elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine and illuminates a red LED.
Apart from the typical documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), which lets you start it right away, the Champion 201267 also is packed along with the following accessories: oil, cover and funnel. An official running cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The Champion 201267 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 201267 compare to generators of similar power (between 3500 and 4500 W).
- With a dry weight of 104.5 lbs, the Champion 201267 sits comfortably within the expected weight range for devices generating 3500 to 4500 rated watts. If you are mindful of weight, the WEN 56432iX is among the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 52.9 pounds.
- At 68 dBA, this generator's noise rating is in line with the expected average for devices within its power category. If you are concerned with noise, check out the Westinghouse iGen5000DF, which is one of the least noisy generators in its power range, with a noise rating of just 52 dBA.
- As the 201267 features an autonomy of around 14 hours at 50% load, it has a higher run time than an average generator of its power range. If you consider autonomy on a single full tank as one of the deciding factors, one of the generators in the same power range that offers the highest run time is the NorthStar c5500, with around 15.1 hours.
- While run time matters, it's heavily influenced by the fuel tank's capacity. Hence, it's important to consider fuel efficiency alongside. As this generator uses an estimated 0.34 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 50% load, it finds itself in the average gasoline consumption range of similar products. If fuel consumption is your top priority, we suggest to check out the Westinghouse iGen5000DF, which has a fuel consumption of only 0.23 GPH and thus, is one of the most efficient devices in our database.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3500-4500W generators, the Champion 201267 is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.
The bottom line
- Inexpensive
- CO Shield™ technology
- RV Ready
- High run time
- Decent weight (104.5 lbs)
- Acceptable noise (68 dBA)
- Decent fuel efficiency
- No electric start

User Reviews
Very poor power output. I can not even run a 1500 watt heater.
Purchased a 3550. Very quiet and starts easy. Now the problem. It only runs with the choke half closed. Otherwise it runs rough with the choke open. I bought from Cabela’s. They asked if I put gas and oil in it. I said yes. They said it can’t be returned since I put gas and oil in it and started and ran it. I replied how would I know if there was a problem if I didn’t put gas and oil in it and start it. Reply was DUH…. I called Champion. The said they would be happy to repair it. All I have to do is send it back to them. The are in California….I live in Maine !! So I have no resolve. Not very happy with either Cabela’s and Champion at this point.
Love it very happy
Just bought it a few weeks ago and so far it works great. Haven’t had a chance to put it thru a power outage and hopefully won’t have to.
