Zoom on the Champion 201267
In short, the Champion 201267 is a portable generator adequately designed for:
- RV travellers wishing to enhance their freedom and nomad lifestyle
- People occasionally participating in outdoor fairs, festivals or events
- Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
Champion 201267 runs on gasoline, powered by a 224 cc OHV 4-stroke engine, delivering 120V, boasting a running wattage of 3,550W alongside a starting wattage of 4,450W.
Operating at a noise rating of 68 dBA (less noisy than background music), this generator starts up with a manual recoil starter system.
The 201267's fuel tank, with a capacity of 4.7 gallons, supports uninterrupted operation for around 14 hours at 50% load when fully fueled (fuel consumption at an estimated 0.34 gallons per hour).
Considering its high Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 20%, it is not recommended to rely on the 201267 for powering sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 4 AC outlets:
This Champion generator is RV Ready, thanks to its TT-30R receptacle (TT stands for 'Travel Trailer').
Portability
Measuring L24.4 x W23.9 x H22.5 in, the Champion 201267 showcases a classic open frame layout, offering stability and simple maintenance access to components, while facilitating air circulation. This type of design is ideal for tough environments and heavy outdoor use.
The 104.5 lbs of the 201267's dry weight enables you to use it anywhere you will ever need. Additionally, it can be easily moved with the help of its wheel kit (⌀8") and its folding handle, once it is on the ground.
Features
Included in the control panel of the 201267 are an Intelligauge meter, providing voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours data, essential for monitoring its status and activity.
Equipped with a built-in fuel gauge, the generator facilitates swift gas level checks.
Regarding security, the generator comes with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during operation. Champion's built-in surge protector (Volt Guard™) safeguards your equipment and appliances against voltage spikes.
The unit also benefits from the CO Shield™ technology, which monitors accumulation of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas produced by the engine's exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield™ detects elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine and illuminates a red LED.
Besides the classic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to get you promptly started, the Champion 201267 also comes with some accessories: funnel, cover and oil are included. An official running cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The Champion 201267 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 201267 compare to generators of similar power (between 3500 and 4500 W).
- At 104.5 lbs dry, the Champion 201267 is consistent with the standard weight profile for devices ranging from 3500 to 4500 rated watts. Regarding dry weight, one of the champions in the same power range is the WEN 56432iX, with a dry weight of only 52.9 lbs.
- With noise emissions rated as low as 68 dBA, this generator falls within the typical noise range expected for devices of similar power. If you'd like a less noisy alternative, the Westinghouse iGen5000DF is a strong contender. It boasts a noise rating of 52 dBA, placing it among the quietest generators in its power category.
- Among its devices with similar power, the 201267 offers one of the higher run times, running for around 14 hours at 50% load. If runtime is a priority for you, the Firman W03663OF stands out as one of the generators with the longest run time in its power range, providing around 18 hours of continuous use.
- Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. The generator burns fuel at a rate of around 0.34 GPH when running at a 50% load, which is consistent with the average fuel usage of models of comparable power output. If you are concerned with gasoline efficiency, having a fuel consumption of just 0.23 GPH, the Westinghouse iGen5000DF is a device you could look out for.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3500-4500W generators, the Champion 201267 is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.
The bottom line
- Inexpensive
- CO Shield™ technology
- RV Ready
- High run time
- Decent weight (104.5 lbs)
- Acceptable noise (68 dBA)
- Decent fuel efficiency
- No electric start

User Reviews
Very poor power output. I can not even run a 1500 watt heater.
Purchased a 3550. Very quiet and starts easy. Now the problem. It only runs with the choke half closed. Otherwise it runs rough with the choke open. I bought from Cabela’s. They asked if I put gas and oil in it. I said yes. They said it can’t be returned since I put gas and oil in it and started and ran it. I replied how would I know if there was a problem if I didn’t put gas and oil in it and start it. Reply was DUH…. I called Champion. The said they would be happy to repair it. All I have to do is send it back to them. The are in California….I live in Maine !! So I have no resolve. Not very happy with either Cabela’s and Champion at this point.
Love it very happy
Just bought it a few weeks ago and so far it works great. Haven’t had a chance to put it thru a power outage and hopefully won’t have to.
