Description
Zoom on the Champion 201267
In summary, the Champion 201267 is a portable generator especially useful for:
- RV travellers wishing to enhance their freedom and nomad lifestyle
- People occasionally participating in outdoor fairs, festivals or events
- Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
Running on gasoline, the Champion 201267 operates with a 224 cc OHV 4-stroke engine, delivering 120V, with a running wattage of 3,550W and a peak wattage of 4,450W.
Enjoying a noise rating of 68 dBA (less noisy than a normal conversation), this generator gets running thanks to a standard recoil pull-rope starting mechanism.
Thanks to a fuel capacity of 4.7 gallons, the 201267 can operate for around 14 hours at 50% load with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.34 GPH).
The powering of sensitive electronic devices with the 201267 is not recommended due to its high THD (<20%).
Outlets
The control panel features 4 AC outlets as follows:
With its TT-30R receptacle (TT as in 'Travel Trailer'), this Champion generator is RV Ready.
Portability
At L24.4 x W23.9 x H22.5 in, the Champion 201267 boasts a traditional open frame structure, ensuring stability and allowing for convenient maintenance access to components, promoting air circulation. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.
Despite its 104.5 lbs, the generator falls under the category of 'portable,' signifying its movability, although its weight may hinder easy portability. Still, once it is on the ground, its wheel kit (⌀8") and its folding handle can easily solve the issue of low mobility and allow for easy relocation of the device.
Features
Integrated into the control center of the 201267 are an Intelligauge meter, offering voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours readings, facilitating the monitoring of its status and activity.
The inclusion of a built-in fuel gauge in the generator streamlines gas level checks for quick and convenient assessments.
From a security standpoint, the product offers an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), allowing you to use it with a peace of mind. Champion's built-in surge protector (Volt Guard™) safeguards your equipment and appliances against voltage spikes.
The unit also benefits from the CO Shield™ technology, which monitors accumulation of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas produced by the engine's exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield™ detects elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine and illuminates a red LED.
In addition to the traditional documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to help you get started promptly, the Champion 201267 also includes several accessories: cover, oil and funnel. An official running cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The Champion 201267 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 201267 compare to generators of similar power (between 3500 and 4500 W).
- With a dry weight of 104.5 pounds, the Champion 201267 finds itself in the expected weight range for generators able to produce between 3500 and 4500 rated watts. if you wish to prioritize weight, the Genmax GM4600iAEFIC is one of the top contenders in its power category, weighing only 58.4 pounds.
- Since the generator's noise is rated at 68 dBA, it has the roughly average expected noise for a device of similar power. If you value reduced noise levels, the Westinghouse iGen5000DF could be worth considering. It's one of the quietest generators in its power range, rated at 52 dBA.
- Since the 201267 boasts with a run time of around 14 hours at 50% load, it can be safely judged as a device of a higher run time than most generators of a comparable output. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the Predator 4375, reaching around 16 hours.
- While run time is vital, it hinges on the fuel capacity. To grasp the full picture, we must also factor in fuel efficiency. This generator has an average fuel consumption among comparably powerful devices, as it reaches 0.34 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 50% load. If you are concerned with gasoline efficiency, having a fuel consumption of just 0.23 GPH, the Westinghouse iGen5000DF is a device you could look out for.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3500-4500W generators, the Champion 201267 is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.

User Reviews
Very poor power output. I can not even run a 1500 watt heater.
Purchased a 3550. Very quiet and starts easy. Now the problem. It only runs with the choke half closed. Otherwise it runs rough with the choke open. I bought from Cabela’s. They asked if I put gas and oil in it. I said yes. They said it can’t be returned since I put gas and oil in it and started and ran it. I replied how would I know if there was a problem if I didn’t put gas and oil in it and start it. Reply was DUH…. I called Champion. The said they would be happy to repair it. All I have to do is send it back to them. The are in California….I live in Maine !! So I have no resolve. Not very happy with either Cabela’s and Champion at this point.
Love it very happy
Just bought it a few weeks ago and so far it works great. Haven’t had a chance to put it thru a power outage and hopefully won’t have to.
