Description
Zoom on the Champion 201154
The Champion 201154 replaced the 200992. It's a compact portable inverter generator mostly geared towards:
- RV travellers who wish to upgrade their experience to another level
- People occasionally participating in outdoor fairs, festivals or events
- Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
- Camping and tailgating buffs looking to enhance their experience
Over the following sections, you'll uncover its power characteristics, the selection of outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it includes.
Power & Run Time
The Champion 201154's engine, 212 cc OHV 4-stroke, fueled by gasoline, can deliver 120V. It provides a running wattage of 3,650W and reaches a peak wattage of 4,650W. In addition, the parallel capability (ParaLink (opens in a new tab) not included) empowers increasing of power output when linked to another similar or compatible unit, ensuring expanded energy capacity and reliability for various applications.
Operating with a noise level of 61 dBA (just slightly more noisy than an office), the inverter generator starts up via a conventional pull-start mechanism. Champion’s EZ Start Dial lets you intuitively start the engine with easy access to all the controls you need.
With a fuel capacity of 2.3 gallons, the 201154 can run for up to 14 hours when the tank is full (fuel consumption is approximately 0.16 gallons per hour).
The 201154 produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features 3 AC outlets as follows:
Moreover, it comes equipped with 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle making battery charging a breeze. Since a dual port USB adapter is also included with the unit, you will be able to use the DC receptacle to conveniently charge electronics such as mobile phones and tablets.
Featuring a TT-30R receptacle (TT for 'Travel Trailer'), this Champion generator is RV Ready, designed specifically for use with recreational vehicles.
Portability
With its enclosed inverter generator design (L23.2 x W17.7 x H20.1 in), the Champion 201154 offers superior aesthetics and operates with minimized noise levels, distinguishing itself from standard, open frame generators. The generator has a contemporary design, convenient for recreationally generating power.
With a dry weight of 95 lbs, the 201154 can easily follow you wherever your power needs are. Furthermore, with its set of 2 wheels (⌀5") and its folding handle, you can easily relocate the generator once it's set up.
Features
To help you monitor the 201154's status and activity, its control panel is equipped with a digital Intelligauge data center, giving you information on the frequency, power output, lifetime run hours and voltage.
The inverter generator includes a built-in fuel gauge, a quick, easy and convenient method of checking the device’s gas level.
From a security standpoint, the product offers an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, allowing you to use it with a peace of mind.
The unit also benefits from the CO Shield™ technology, which monitors accumulation of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas produced by the engine's exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield™ detects elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine and illuminates a red LED.
Apart from the typical documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), which lets you start it right away, the Champion 201154 also is packed along with the following accessories: tool kit, funnel, oil and dual port USB adapter.

The Champion 201154 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 201154 compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 3500 and 4500 W).
- With a dry weight of 95 lbs, the Champion 201154 sits comfortably within the expected weight range for inverters generating 3500 to 4500 rated watts. Weight-conscious users may find the Genmax GM4600iAEFIC appealing, as it is one of the top contenders in this power range, weighing just 58.4 pounds.
- As this inverter generator can emit noise as low as 61 dBA, it finds itself in the average expected noise for this kind of power. If noise level is one your key decisive factors, you may find the Westinghouse iGen4500DF appealing. It's rated at 52 dBA, making it one of the quietest generators in its power range.
- Autonomy-wise, with up to 14 hours on a full tank at a 25% load, the 201154 is on the low end when compared to other inverter generators of a similar power output. If prolonged run time is essential to your needs, you could consider the Firman W03661OF, which offers one of the highest autonomy among devices with similar power output, lasting up to 25 hours.
- The run time is important, but also hugely depends on the capacity of the fuel tank and doesn't mean much if we don't talk about fuel consumption as well. With an estimated gasoline consumption of 0.16 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load, this inverter generator is among the most fuel-efficient of the products in the above-mentioned wattage range.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3500-4500W inverter generators, the Champion 201154 is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
