Description
Zoom on the Champion 201122
The Champion 201122 replaced the 100899. It's a quiet, compact and lightweight portable inverter generator mostly geared towards:
- Camping and tailgating hobbyists looking for a portable power source
- DIYers who wish to improve their efficiency with tools
The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the extra features it benefits from.
Power & Run Time
With its dual-fuel technology, the Champion 201122 delivers 120V, and offers power and flexibility. Running on gasoline, it boasts a running wattage of 1,850W and a peak wattage of 2,500W. When powered by propane, it delivers 1,665 running watts and 2,500 peak watts. Additionally, the parallel capability (ParaLink (opens in a new tab) not included) facilitates doubling of power output when linked to another similar or compatible unit, offering enhanced energy capacity and reliability for diverse requirements.
The inverter generator is rated for a noise of 53 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a conversation at home). Its starting mechanism is based on a simple traditional pull-start mechanism. Champion’s EZ Start Dial lets you intuitively start the engine with easy access to all the controls you need.
Concerning its running time, the 201122, featuring a 1.1 gallon fuel tank, can continuously run for up to 11.5 hours with a full gasoline tank (consuming fuel at approximately 0.1 gallons per hour). Alternatively, when utilizing propane, it offers up to 34 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.14 GPH) of runtime.
Thanks to its low <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), the 201122 produces a clean sine wave output, making it safe for your sensitive electronics when utilizing the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features 2 AC outlets as follows:
Moreover, it comes equipped with 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) allowing you to conveniently charge electronics such as mobile phones and tablets.
Portability
As an inverter generator, the Champion 201122 showcases a closed design (L17.3 x W11.5 x H17.7 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring quieter operation compared to conventional, open frame models. This type of design is the most modern and convenient way to recreationally generate power.
Since the 201122 weighs only 39 lbs, it can be labeled as a portable lightweight generator. It's easy for one person to move around, ensuring power availability on the move. In addition, a handle (molded in the case) lets you carry it easily and further increases its convenience.
Features
A light indicator on the device will signal if its oil levels are insufficient.
In terms of security, the generator features an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), ensuring peace of mind during its use.
The unit also benefits from the CO Shield™ technology, which monitors accumulation of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas produced by the engine's exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield™ detects elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine and illuminates a red LED.
Apart from the typical documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), which lets you start it right away, the Champion 201122 also is packed along with the following accessories: propane hose, oil and funnel. The official storage cover and running cover are also available, as separate purchases.

The Champion 201122 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 201122 compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).
- In terms of its dry weight, the Champion 201122 stands at only 39 lbs, meaning that is one of the lighter inverters of the 1500-2500 rated wattage category If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Genmax GM2000i with only 34.2 pounds.
- Rated at a lowest possible noise level of 53 dBA, this inverter generator positions itself amongst the more quiet of the products of similar type and power. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may be interested in the Honda EU2200i, one of the least noisy generators similarly powerful as this one, rated for 48 dBA.
- Among its inverters with similar power, the 201122 offers one of the higher run times, running for up to 11.5 hours at 25% load. Furthermore, considering the run times, one of the generators which have a roughly same power output, with the highest autonomy, is the DuroMax XP2300iH, as it provides up to 13 hours.
- Though run time is a significant parameter, it's closely tied to the generator's fuel tank size. To get a comprehensive understanding, fuel efficiency must also be taken into account. This inverter generator can be considered as fuel-efficient, due to its low estimated fuel consumption of only 0.1 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load, within the aforementioned wattage range. If you wish to get a unit of similar power, but with one of the best fuel efficiency, you could consider the Westinghouse iGen2800c, which has an impressively low fuel consumption of 0.08 GPH.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 1500-2500W dual fuel inverter generators, the Champion 201122 is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.

I have an Eco Flow Mini Delta to run my Cpap machine at camp. Looking for a generator to charge the Eco Flow during the 2 hour generator run time window the camp allows. Will a 1500 watt generator get the job done or should I look bigger? (Asked December 31, 2024)
According to our research, the Mini Delta has a maximum input power of 900W when using the X-Stream Fast Charging port. This Champion unit can easily deliver this power through its AC outlets.
