Description
Zoom on the Champion 201122
The Champion 201122 replaced the 100899. It's a quiet, compact and lightweight portable inverter generator especially useful for:
- Camping and tailgating buffs looking to enhance their experience
- DIYers who wish to improve their efficiency with tools
In the sections ahead, the power characteristics, availability of various outlets, the portability, and any additional features of the device shall be discussed.
Power & Run Time
Delivering 120V, the Champion 201122 is enhanced by dual-fuel technology, providing power and versatility. Running on gasoline, it boasts a running wattage of 1,850W and a starting wattage of 2,500W. Alternatively, when propane-powered, it delivers 1,665 running watts and 2,500 starting watts. Furthermore, the parallel capability (ParaLink (opens in a new tab) not included) offers the advantage of doubling power output when connected to another similar or compatible unit, delivering expanded energy capacity and flexibility for various applications.
At a noise rating of 53 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a conversation at home), the inverter generator is started via a simple traditional pull-start mechanism. Champion’s EZ Start Dial lets you intuitively start the engine with easy access to all the controls you need.
Regarding its running time, the 201122, with a 1.1 gallon fuel capacity, can operate for up to 11.5 hours with a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.1 GPH). When using propane, it can run for up to 34 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.14 GPH).
The 201122 produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel provides the upcoming 2 AC outlets:
Moreover, it presents 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) designed for hassle-free charging of various electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets, ensuring uninterrupted usage.
Portability
The Champion 201122 is an inverter generator and features an encased design with the following dimensions: L17.3 x W11.5 x H17.7 in. This design enhances aesthetics and helps minimize noise levels, distinguishing it from conventional, open frame products. The featured design follows the latest trends and is ideal for easy and recreational use.
The 201122's weight, at just 39 lbs, makes it an ideal choice for those seeking a lightweight and portable generator. As it can be moved by a single person without much effort, the generator and its power can be enjoyed on-the-go. Adding to its convenience, the handle (molded in the case) enables easy carrying.
Features
A light indicator shows you if its oil levels are insufficient.
As far as security is concerned, the generator comes with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during use.
The unit also benefits from the CO Shield™ technology, which monitors accumulation of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas produced by the engine's exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield™ detects elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine and illuminates a red LED.
Apart from the typical documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), which lets you start it right away, the Champion 201122 also is packed along with the following accessories: funnel, propane hose and oil. The official storage cover and running cover are also available, as separate purchases.

The Champion 201122 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 201122 compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).
- Regarding weight, the Champion 201122 comes in at only 39 pounds, positioning itself as one of the lighter options among inverter generators spanning from 1500 to 2500 in rated wattage. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Genmax GM2000i with only 34.2 pounds.
- As its lowest possible noise is rated at 53 dBA, this inverter generator qualifies as one of the more quiet of the products of similar type and power. If you wish to prioritize minimal noise, the Honda EU2200i stands out as one of the quietest options among generators of similar power, with a rating of 48 dBA.
- Compared to inverters of similar power, the 201122 stands out with one of the higher run times, lasting up to 11.5 hours at 25% load. If prolonged run time is essential to your needs, you could consider the DuroMax XP2300iH, which offers one of the highest autonomy among devices with similar power output, lasting up to 13 hours.
- Run time is a key metric, but it's dependent on the generator's fuel tank capacity. Therefore, discussing fuel efficiency is necessary for a complete understanding. With a fuel consumption rate around 0.1 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load, this inverter generator is one of the more fuel-efficient models within the aforementioned wattage range. If you wish to further improve in the area of fuel efficiency, the Westinghouse iGen2800c, which boasts with a gas consumption of only 0.08 GPH, may be the right generator for you.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 1500-2500W dual fuel inverter generators, the Champion 201122 is on the expensive side of the price range.
While certainly not the cheapest of its kind, purchasing it would most likely also mean enjoying the reliability of a high-end product.

I have an Eco Flow Mini Delta to run my Cpap machine at camp. Looking for a generator to charge the Eco Flow during the 2 hour generator run time window the camp allows. Will a 1500 watt generator get the job done or should I look bigger? (Asked December 31, 2024)
According to our research, the Mini Delta has a maximum input power of 900W when using the X-Stream Fast Charging port. This Champion unit can easily deliver this power through its AC outlets.
