Description
Zoom on the Champion 201122
The Champion 201122 replaced the 100899. It's a quiet, compact and lightweight portable inverter generator especially useful for:
- Tailgating and campground aficionados with the desire of enjoying power anywhere they go
- DIYers who wish to improve their efficiency with tools
The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the extra features it benefits from.
Power & Run Time
Thanks to its dual-fuel technology, the Champion 201122 delivers 120V and offers power and versatility. When gasoline-powered, it benefits from a running wattage of 1,850W and a peak wattage of 2,500W. When propane-powered, it has 1,665 rated watts and 2,500 peak watts. In addition, the device is parallel capable (ParaLink (opens in a new tab) not included) and thus, can be linked to a similar or compatible unit for added power.
Featuring a noise rating of 53 dBA (just slightly more noisy than rainfall), the inverter generator utilizes a conventional pull-start mechanism for ignition. Champion’s EZ Start Dial lets you intuitively start the engine with easy access to all the controls you need.
Regarding its running time, the 201122, with a 1.1 gallon fuel capacity, can operate for up to 11.5 hours with a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.1 GPH). When using propane, it can run for up to 34 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.14 GPH).
The 201122 generates a clean sine wave with <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), ensuring minimal electrical noise and fluctuations. This feature makes it ideal for powering sensitive electronics, providing stable and reliable AC power through the outlets.
Outlets
The control panel features the upcoming 2 AC outlets:
Additionally, it features 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports (USB-A) ensuring convenient charging of devices like mobile phones and tablets, for connectivity on the go.
Portability
The Champion 201122 is an inverter generator and features an encased design with the following dimensions: L17.3 x W11.5 x H17.7 in. This design enhances aesthetics and helps minimize noise levels, distinguishing it from conventional, open frame products. The generator has a contemporary design, convenient for recreationally generating power.
Since the 201122 weighs only 39 lbs, it can be labeled as a portable lightweight generator. It's easy for one person to move around, ensuring power availability on the move. With its handle (molded in the case), carrying it becomes a breeze, adding to its convenience.
Features
A light indicator on the device will notify you if its oil levels are insufficient.
As far as security is concerned, the generator comes with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during use.
The unit also benefits from the CO Shield™ technology, which monitors accumulation of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas produced by the engine's exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield™ detects elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine and illuminates a red LED.
With the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), letting you start the generator quickly, the Champion 201122 also comes with several accessories, including: oil, propane hose and funnel. The official storage cover and running cover are also available, as separate purchases.

The Champion 201122 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 201122 compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).
- In terms of its weight, the Champion 201122 weighs merely 39 pounds, earning it a spot among the lighter inverter generators within the 1500 to 2500 rated wattage category. If weight is a key factor for your needs, the Genmax GM2000i is noteworthy for being one of the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 34.2 pounds.
- As its lowest possible noise is rated at 53 dBA, this inverter generator qualifies as one of the more quiet of the products of similar type and power. If you’d prefer a less noisy device, one of the most quiet devices, which share the same power range with this one, is the Honda EU2200i, whose lowest noise levels reach just 48 dBA.
- At 25% load, the 201122 boasts a higher run time than most similarly powerful inverters, reaching up to 11.5 hours. For those prioritizing autonomy, the DuroMax XP2300iH could be considered, as it offers one of the longest run times among generators with similar power output, reaching up to 13 hours.
- Though run time is a significant parameter, it's closely tied to the generator's fuel tank size. To get a comprehensive understanding, fuel efficiency must also be taken into account. This inverter generator provides better fuel efficiency than most others in its wattage range, consuming approximately 0.1 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load. If you wish to further improve in the area of fuel efficiency, the DuroMax XP2300iH, which boasts with a gas consumption of only 0.08 GPH, may be the right generator for you.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 1500-2500W dual fuel inverter generators, the Champion 201122 is on the expensive side of the price range.
While certainly not the cheapest of its kind, purchasing it would most likely also mean enjoying the reliability of a high-end product.

I have an Eco Flow Mini Delta to run my Cpap machine at camp. Looking for a generator to charge the Eco Flow during the 2 hour generator run time window the camp allows. Will a 1500 watt generator get the job done or should I look bigger? (Asked December 31, 2024)
According to our research, the Mini Delta has a maximum input power of 900W when using the X-Stream Fast Charging port. This Champion unit can easily deliver this power through its AC outlets.
