Power & Run Time

The Champion 201057 in use

The Champion 201057

With its dual-fuel technology, the powerful and versatile Champion 201057 provides an output of 120V. While gasoline-powered, it gives a running wattage of 3500W along with a peak wattage of 4250W. While propane-powered, it provides 3150 rated watts and 4250 starting watts. Additionally, as the generator is parallel capable (ParaLink (opens in a new tab) not included), it can be linked to a second unit for more power.

With a noise rating of 64 dBA (just slightly more noisy than an office), the inverter generator features a conventional pull-start mechanism, but also a convenient and easy-to-use electric starter (battery included).

With a fuel capacity of 4 gallons, the 201057 can operate for up to 22 hours using gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.18 GPH), or for up to 21 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.22 GPH) using propane.

The 201057 generates a clean sine wave: providing <3% Total Harmonic Disruption (THD), delicate electronics can be plugged in its AC outlets safely.

Outlets

The control panel includes the following 3 AC outlets:

Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R)
120V 30A (TT-30R) receptacle

Additionally, it features 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle allowing you to easily charge your batteries.

With its TT-30R receptacle (TT as in 'Travel Trailer'), this Champion generator is RV Ready.

Portability

The Champion 201057 has a conventional, open frame design, of the following dimensions: L28.6 x W23.4 x H21.6 in, which offers support and allows it to be raised above ground level. The generator is designed for ideal use outdoors and in rough environments.

The 201057 can be taken anywhere with you, thanks to its weight of 92 lbs. Furthermore, once placed on the floor, effortless displacement is possible thanks to its wheel kit (⌀8") and its folding handle.

The 201057's control panel

Monitoring of the 201057's status and activity is made possible by a digital Intelligauge data center, which provides information on the power output, voltage, lifetime run hours and frequency and is one of the features of its control panel.

In addition to this info, when the oil level is too low, you will be informed by the featured light indicator.

The inverter generator includes a built-in fuel gauge, a quick, easy and convenient method of checking the device’s gas level.

From a security point of view, the generator is equipped with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), giving you a peace of mind during use.

Apart from the typical documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), which lets you start it right away, the Champion 201057 also is packed along with the following accessories: propane hose, funnel, oil and dual port USB adapter.

Emissions

The Champion 201057 is EPA-approved and CARB-compliant. It can therefore be sold and purchased in all 50 states, including California.

Moreover, it features a spark arrestor, which makes it suitable for use in forested areas.

The Champion 201057 versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 201057 compare to generators of similar power (between 3000 and 4000 W).

  • As for its weight, the Champion 201057 weighs only 92 pounds, making it one of the lighter generators in the 3000-4000 rated wattage category. If you are concerned by weight, one of the champions in the above-mentioned power range is the WEN GN400i, with a dry weight of just 66.1 pounds.
  • As this inverter generator can emit noise as low as 64 dBA, it finds itself in the average expected noise for this kind of power. If noise emissions are important to you, one of the least noisy generators of this power range is the Cat INV4000E with only 51 dBA.
  • The 201057 provides one of the highest run time among similarly powerful devices, reaching up to 22 hours at 25% load.
  • Even though run times are undoubtedly important, they are dependent on the fuel capacity to a large extent. For a more wholesome picture, we must take into consideration the fuel consumption of the generator. This inverter generator can be considered as fuel efficient, due to its low estimated fuel consumption of only 0.18 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load, within the aforementioned wattage range. If you wish to further improve in the area of fuel efficiency, the Energizer eZV3500P, which boasts with a gas consumption of only 0.13 GPH, may be the right generator for you.

Price comparison

As you can see from this interactive chart, when compared to other 3000-4000W generators, the Champion 201057 is on the average side of the price range.

Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
