In the sections ahead, the power characteristics, availability of various outlets, the portability, and any additional features of the device shall be discussed.
Power & Run Time
Featuring dual-fuel technology, the Champion 200991 provides 120V, as well as versatility and power. Running on gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 3,500W and a peak wattage of 4,500W. Alternatively, when fueled by propane, it offers 3,150 running watts and 4,500 peak watts. Moreover, since it is parallel capable (ParaLink (opens in a new tab) not included), its power may be increased if linked to a second compatible unit.
At a noise rating of 61 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a normal conversation), this inverter generator provides the choice between a classic hand-operated recoil starting mechanism or a user-friendly and efficient electric starter (battery included) for starting. Champion’s EZ Start Dial lets you intuitively start the engine with easy access to all the controls you need.
With a fuel capacity of 2.3 gallons, the 200991 can operate for up to 14 hours using gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.16 GPH), or for up to 21 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.22 GPH) using propane.
The 200991 produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel includes the following 3 AC outlets:
It also sports 2 DC outlets: there's two 5V USB ports providing convenient charging capabilities for mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices.
Thanks to its TT-30R receptacle (TT stands for 'Travel Trailer'), this Champion generator is RV Ready, making it ideal for powering recreational vehicles.
Portability
The Champion 200991 is an inverter generator and features an encased design with the following dimensions: L23.2 x W17.7 x H20.1 in. This design enhances aesthetics and helps minimize noise levels, distinguishing it from conventional, open frame products. The design follows the contemporary trends and is perfect for recreationally generating power.
Despite its 103 lbs, the generator falls under the category of 'portable,' signifying its movability, although its weight may hinder easy portability. Nonetheless, the limited maneuverability is compensated for by utilizing its set of 2 wheels (⌀5") and its folding handle, which facilitates shifting once the generator is set on the ground.
Features
The 200991's control panel is equipped with a digital Intelligauge data center, furnishing detailed information on the lifetime run hours, voltage and power output for you to easily track its activity and status.
In addition to this info, several light indicators serve to show you when the generator is ready, the generator is on overload and its oil levels are insufficient.
Equipped with a built-in fuel gauge, the inverter generator facilitates swift gas level checks.
As far as security is concerned, the generator comes with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during use.
In addition to the traditional documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to help you get started promptly, the Champion 200991 also includes several accessories: tool kit, propane hose, oil and funnel. An official running cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The Champion 200991 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 200991 compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 3000 and 4000 W).
- Having a dry weight of 103 lbs, the Champion 200991 belongs in the expected weight range for inverter generators which produce 3000 to 4000 rated watts. If weight is an important consideration for you, the Pulsar PGD40iSCO stands out as one of the top contenders in this power category, with a dry weight of 46 pounds.
- The inverter generator can be considered average in its noise for its type and power category, as it is rated at 61 dBA. If you’d prefer a less noisy device, one of the most quiet devices, which share the same power range with this one, is the Westinghouse iGen4500DF, whose lowest noise levels reach just 52 dBA.
- With up to 14 hours of runtime at a 25% load on a full tank, the 200991 is in line with the average autonomy range for inverter generators of comparable power. If extended autonomy is what matters most to you, the Firman W03661OF could be an excellent choice, offering one of the longest run times among units in its power category, reaching up to 25 hours.
- Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. Among devices of similar power, this inverter generator has one of the better fuel efficiency, with consumption rates of around 0.16 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load. If you wish to get a unit of similar power, but with one of the best fuel efficiency, you could consider the Energizer eZV3500P, which has an impressively low fuel consumption of 0.13 GPH.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 3000-4000W dual fuel inverter generators, the Champion 200991 is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

User Reviews
I bought this for back-up power during outages and to use while camping in our RV. I love the fact that it is RV ready and will power out 13.5kw A/C and other appliances simultaneously. I have only run it on propane, and really don’t plan on using gasoline unless necessary. It starts easily and runs very quietly. I run it on our RV’s onboard propane and it will run all weekend on our RV tanks with gas to spare. I would highly recommend this generator to any of my friends.
