The Champion 100814 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 100814 compare to generators of similar power (between 7000 and 8000 W).
- At 202.8 lbs in dry weight, the Champion 100814 fits well within the typical weight bracket for generators producing 7000 to 8000 rated watts. If you are concerned by weight, one of the champions in the above-mentioned power range is the Genmax GM10500XiT, with a dry weight of just 123.5 pounds.
- The generator can be considered average in its noise for its power category, as it is rated at 74 dBA. If noise level is one your key decisive factors, you may find the DuroMax XP9500iH appealing. It's rated at 61 dBA, making it one of the quietest generators in its power range.
- In terms of autonomy, the 100814 offers around 8 hours at a 50% load, placing it at the lower range within its power range. If run time is one of your main concerns, the Champion 100416 could be worth looking at. It boasts one of the highest run times among units of comparable power, lasting around 12.5 hours.
- Even though run times are undoubtedly important, they are dependent on the fuel capacity to a large extent. For a more wholesome picture, we must take into consideration the fuel consumption of the generator. As this generator uses an estimated 0.71 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 50% load, it finds itself in the average gasoline consumption range of similar products. If you wish to acquire one of the most gasoline efficient products of this power range, the Cummins Onan P9500df, with a fuel consumption of 0.6 GPH could be in your good books.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 7000-8000W generators, the Champion 100814 is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.

User Reviews
I’ve had my generator for about 4 years now and it has performed well. I purchased it on sale at Northern Tool for about $850 + tax. After a storm in July 2024, we were without power for 14 days and it ran my whole house, minus the central air. It runs about 10 hours on 6 gallons of gas, that’s running 2 window A/C units, 2 refrigerators, ceiling fans and TV. It was money well spent. I’ve finally had my first problem with the electric start after 4 years, but the pull start still works great. When I say works great, even with the electric start out, it kicked off on the first pull of the cord. I use StaBil in the fuel and run it 20 minutes every month.
I bought a new Champion Model 100814 generator and really like it.
